Firenze – San Bruzio andata e ritorno.
Florence – Round Trip to San Bruzio.
Dopo un viaggio durato tre anni dentro e fuori i paesaggi toscani, Opinion Ciatti
si presenta al Salone del Mobile 2016 con una collezione che nei materiali, nei
dettagli e nei processi produttivi trae ispirazione dalla città di Firenze con il suo
ineguagliabile patrimonio storico, culturale e artistico.
#FollowYourRoots2016 concept Lapo Ciatti, riparte da dove tutto è iniziato,
da Firenze e dalla sua storia, da Firenze museo a cielo aperto dove anche il più
piccolo dettaglio, il particolare più nascosto o il ricordo di un fatto storico può
rivelarsi spunto per una nuova intuizione, un nuovo prodotto, una nuova finitura.
Talvolta è sufficiente fermarsi un istante e cambiare punto di vista.
Improvvisamente ci si potrà trovare immersi nella grandezza della Firenze dei
Medici ed essere pervasi dallo stesso stupore che sperimentavano gli uomini e
le donne di allora, quando i loro occhi assistevano alla costruzione dell’ultima
opera di Michelangelo, le loro orecchie sentivano il suono del metallo lavorato
nelle fucine e l’aria odorava di calce, legno e pellame.
Visioni e ispirazioni di un passato che ancora una volta si fa contemporaneo e
che, in un inaspettato déjà vu, si trasforma in oggetti e complementi adatti al
vivere del terzo millennio. A proprio agio in case raffinate o ambienti contract
d’avanguardia.
E’ in questo quadro che nascono i nuovi prodotti firmati da Lapo Ciatti, Stefan
Krivokapic e Sebastiano Tosi, è in questo scenario che ci si confronta con le
riedizioni di Guelfo, Mammamia, ILtavolo e Ptolomeo.
After a three-year journey in and out of the Tuscan landscape, Opinion Ciatti
presents itself to the 2016 Salone del Mobile with a collection where the details
and production processes used are inspired by the city of Florence, with its
inimitable historical, cultural and artistic heritage.
#FollowYourRoots2016 concept Lapo Ciatti starts where it all began: Florence
and its history. Florence as an open-air museum where even the tiniest detail,
a hidden feature or the memory of a historical event can be the source of new
inspiration, a new product or a new finish.
At times it is enough to stop a while and change viewpoints to suddenly
find oneself surrounded by the grandeur of the Medicean Florence and be
overwhelmed by the astonishment felt by the women and men of those days
when their eyes lifted to observe the placing of the latest work by Michelangelo,
when they sharpened their ears to hear to the sound of metal being worked in
the forges and the air smelling of lime, wood and leather.
Visions and inspirations from a past that is once again contemporary and that, in
an unexpected déjà vu, is turned into objects and accessories that are suitable
to life in the third millennium, perfectly at ease a fine home or in avant-garde
environments in the contract segment.
This is the backdrop that gives rise to the new signature products by Lapo
Ciatti, Stefan Krivokapic and Sebastiano Tosi. It is this scenario that gives rise
to the new editions of Guelfo, Mammamia, ILtavolo and Ptolomeo.

Degabello “La grande sgabellata” - sgabello - Lapo Ciatti
Una fonte storica, il “degabellamento” imperiale del 802, è l’ispirazione per
la prima delle nuove proposte firmate Opinion Ciatti. Leggenda infatti vuole
che l’etimologia del sostantivo sgabello si rifaccia alle sommosse popolari
– note come la “grande sgabellata” - che in quell’anno furono provocate
dall’introduzione di un tassa che repentinamente andava a sostituire le 17
odiatissime gabelle (tasse) che solo poco prima erano state abrogate. E’ da
questa curiosa lettura filologica che Lapo Ciatti è partito per trasformare in
un oggetto elegante e contemporaneo, la più semplice e popolare seduta
medievale.
Batti.Batti - lampada a sospensione - Stefan Krivokapic
Prende il proprio nome da una fase della forgiatura dei metalli la lampada
a sospensione di Stefan Krivokapic. Nelle botteghe artigiane toscane del
medioevo il tondino di ferro pieno veniva infatti prima arroventato e poi battuto
per conferirgli la forma tridimensionale desiderata. Usando oggi la medesima
tecnica nascono pezzi unici, minimali nella forma e raffinati nelle finiture, perfetta
“fusione” tra passato e futuro.
FIRENZE - carpet collection - Sebastiano Tosi & Lapo Ciatti
Ci invita a guardare in alto e a rimanere inebriati da tanta bellezza la collezione
di tappeti nata dalla collaborazione tra Sebastiano Tosi e Lapo Ciatti. L’interno
delle cupole delle Cappelle Medicee, il soffitto della basilica di San Lorenzo e il
cortile del palazzo del Bargello diventano straordinari soggetti di una serie di 6
tappeti, novità assoluta in casa Opinion Ciatti, in velluto tufting. Un cambio di
prospettiva, un invito a muovere passi leggeri su superfici altrimenti inaccessibili.
Riedizioni 2016 - Guelfo, Mammamia, ILtavolo Wood, Ptolomeo.
Sono espressione di nuove riflessioni sui materiali e sulle finiture le nuove
interpretazioni di Guelfo, Mammamia, ILtavolo e Ptolomeo. Cambi d’abito
che rimandano ad atmosfere di epoche passate. Legno, oro e velluto usati oggi
come allora ma anche corten, quale ultima declinazione di un metallo antico
come il ferro.
E’ il caso di Guelfo, la bèrgere di Lapo Ciatti, che in occasione de iSaloni 2016
raddoppia diventando un sofisticatissimo sofà e indossa un intramontabile
rivestimento di velluto nero. O della sedia Mammamia di Marcello Ziliani che
propone inediti accostamenti realizzati grazie ad una struttura dalla preziosa
finitura dorata, cromata o di nickel nero. Potenzialmente infinite varianti per una
seduta che non smette mai di stupire.
Fari puntati poi sul materiale in assoluto più antico, quel legno che nella sua
forma più pura va a costruire la struttura de ILtavolo Wood2 di Lapo Ciatti,
un pregiato frassino olivato va a sostituire l’abete de ILtavolo Wood presentato
nell’edizione del Salone 2015.
Chiude la nuova collezione una nuova finitura per Ptolomeo, il bestseller di
famiglia firmato da Bruno Rainaldi. Sensazioni visive e tattili che rimandano ad
un tempo lontano per un rivestimento corten frutto della tecnologia più avanzata.

Degabello “La grande sgabellata” - stool - Lapo Ciatti
A historical event, the elimination of the Imperial gabelle in 802, inspires the first
of the new proposals by Opinion Ciatti. According to legend, the origins of the
Italian word for stool, sgabello, stems from the popular uprising, known as the
“La grande sgabellata”, caused by the introduction of a gabelle that suddenly
replaced the 17 gabelles that the Empire had only just abolished. This curious
philological interpretation originated Lapo Ciatti’s idea to transform the simple
and popular medieval stool into an elegant and contemporary object.
Batti.Batti - lampada a sospensione - Stefan Krivokapic
The name of this ceiling lamp by Stefan Krivokapic is inspired by a stage of the
process whereby metal is forged. In the Medieval days, the Tuscan blacksmiths
used full iron rods that were first heated and then beaten (in Italian battuto) to
achieve the required three-dimensional shape. The same technique is used
today to make unique pieces characterised by minimal shapes and fine finishes,
a perfect “fusion” between past and future.
FIRENZE - carpet collection - Sebastiano Tosi & Lapo Ciatti
The carpet collection stemming from the collaboration between Sebastiano
Tosi and Lapo Ciatti invites us to look up and allow beauty to inebriate us. The
inside of the Medici Chapels, the ceiling of the Church of San Lorenzo and
the courtyard of The Bargello Palace are the incredible subjects of a series of
six carpets in tufted velvet, an absolute novelty for Opinion Ciatti. A change in
perspective, an invitation to softly step on surfaces that would otherwise be
inaccessible.
2016 new editions - Guelfo, Mammamia, ILtavolo Wood, Ptolomeo.
Reflection on the novel use of materials and finishes provide a reinterpretation
of Guelfo, Mammamia, ILtavolo and Ptolomeo. A change of clothes, so to
speak, that recalls days gone by. Besides wood, gold and velvet, which are used
today as they were in the past, corten is employed as a new declination of a
metal used in the past, namely iron.
Guelfo for example, the wingback by Lapo Ciatti, especially for the 2016 Saloni
doubles in size to become a sophisticated sofa and is lined in timeless black
velvet. Or the Mammamia chair by Marcello Ziliani suggesting unprecedented
matches achieved thanks to a precious gold, chrome or black nickel finish of the
frame. A potentially infinite number of variations for a chair that never ceases to
surprise.
The limelight then goes to the most ancient material ever: wood. In its purest
form it provides the structure for ILtavolo Wood2 by Lapo Ciatti, where
prestigious olive ash replaces the fir used in ILtavolo Wood presented in the
2015 edition of the Salone.
Completing the new collection there is the new finish thought for Ptolomeo,
the family’s bestseller designed by Bruno Rainaldi. Visual and tactile feelings
recall past times, with a corten cladding stemming from the use of advanced
technology.
