A PORTFOLIO OF CARDS
Linda Crofton
Apex, NC
All Levels
Yes, it’s really true. Linda is teaching a cardmaking class.
Over the years her technique classes have led to the
creation of some fabulous cards, so she’s decided to let
you play along. How many cards can you complete in 2
hours? She’ll teach you the techniques, like her Antique
Laminate image transfer, a little distress look created with
masking tape, how to stamp a multi-level layered card,
and how to use up all those tiny scraps we accumulate.
She’ll let you make an assortment of elements, and then
provide you with the cards, background layers, pop dots
and envelopes for quite a collection. She’ll be packing a
few hundred of her favorite rubber stamps for your use
during class. All cards will be blank on the inside so you
can later add appropriate sentiments. Bring: scissors,
black ink pad, glue stick, tape runner and 6 ink pads in a
rainbow of colors.

cold connection techniques including riveting and wire
manipulation and how to fashion creative bales and

participants may create additional jewelry pieces and/or
components. Bring: ruler, extra fine point Sharpie pen
and flat nose pliers. If possible, bring a chasing hammer
and a metal block, wire cutter and round nose pliers.

PIXIE IN A BOTTLE
Joe Rotella
Upper Arlington, OH
Intermediate Level
Capture a pixie in a bottle, surrounded by sparkling
jewels, crystals and chains, along with a miniature book
to tell her story! Have you ever wondered what happens
to the bits of jewelry and sparkly things that go missing in
your house? Why, they’re snatched up and used to
decorate the glass home of an enchanted pixie! In this
workshop, you’ll decorate a clear wine bottle, inside and
out, with dangly bits of jewelry, chains and crystals. Joe
will also show you how to create a miniature book where
you can write the story behind your pixie in a bottle. Note:
Fairy, jewelry bits and chains will vary from the photo and
from piece to piece, as some found objects will be
incorporated in the project. You will be working with
small findings. Bring: E6000 adhesive and Diamond Glaze,
basic jewelry making tools (i.e, small needle nose pliers,
round nose pliers, side cutters -- you’ll need a pair since
you will be opening jump rings). Students are encouraged
to bring found object bits of jewelry, chains and crystals
they may want to incorporate in their art. You can also
bring your own figurine to use inside the bottle instead of the
one provided.

SUMPTUOUS SUEDE JOURNAL - AN ITALIAN
CROSS-STRUCTURE BINDING
Jan Beineke Lill
Mascoutah, IL
Beginning Level
Gorgeous. Elegant. Stunning. These are all words to
describe this beautiful suede journal. It’s small, chunky
and oh so special! It’s 6” X 4”, 5 sections and 80 pages of
unlined text paper all wrapped into a plush suede cover
trimmed with Czech glass beads and two pretty buttons.
At start of this workshop, students will pick out one of the
wide variety of colors of suede they would like to use for
the cover. All materials needed to construct one journal, as
well as written instructions, are included in the fee. Some
say this binding is a contemporary binding, while others
think that it dates to the middle ages. All agree that it is an
Italian binding. Whatever it’s origin, this binding is a
treasure! Jan is a graduate of Hollander’s School of
Bookbinding and Paper Arts in Ann Arbor, Michigan and
is a bookbinding master. Bring: An awl, bone folder, a glue
brush (either a 1” foam or 1” flat brush), pencil, metal ruler,
and an old terrycloth washrag. Please bring a pair of full
size, sturdy scissors that are sharp to cut the suede.

good pair of regular 8-9” scissors.

out flower dies and die cutting machines so you can
punch out flowers of all shapes and sizes. But wait, that’s
not all. After they are punched, you’ll assemble your
blooms into a glass-topped shadowbox. If you’ve been in
one of her shadowbox classes, you know the assembly is
the best part because with each rearrangement, the
finished product takes on an entirely new look. Bring: 6
