2016 TOURS
The Canadian Cowboys Association
is proud to announce two rodeo
tours this year! Each tour will consist
of 15 rodeos and the winners of

3. If the contestant is already
qualified within the top ten
standings of their event, then the
next eligible contestant outside
the top ten in the tour standings
will be awarded the finals

Attention
ALL BARREL RACERS
CCA BARREL RACER AND BARREL REP DUTIES/ MATERIALS
If you are the FIRST 2 or LAST
2 Ladies Barrel Racers on the draw,
YOU HAVE TIMER DUTIES!!
The LAST 2 LBR have to SET UP
electronic eyes for barrel racing but
also MUST GET the TRIPODS /
ELECTRONIC EYES READY
BEFORE the performance /slack
make sure they are WORKING
and place the DISPLAY BOX in
the ANNOUNCER STAND, have
everything ready to go (the barrel
rep should do this 1st perf) but it is
up to the last 2 LBR on draw for the
following perfs/slack.
The FIRST 2 LBR take down
timers and put away (in the case)
all parts including the display box
from announcer stand. Please make
sure all power is turned off on all
components.
LOOK on the DRAW, for each
rodeo entered, to see if you’ve been
assigned BARREL REP duties once
you are assigned Barrel Rep duties,
it is your responsibility to find a
suitable replacement if you turn out
or move/trade
PLEASE TRY TO HAVE
BARREL PATTERN MARKED
AT LEAST ONE HOUR PRIOR
TO PERFORMANCE OR SLACK
Each barrel racer is responsible
for supplying their barrel marking
equipment
-2 measuring tapes, min 150’ each
-5 barrel/timer markers
- tape and/ or flagging to mark
walls and fence
- hammer
-pen
-CCA rule book
The official barrel dimension sheet
will be at the onsite rodeo office.
You will need this to mark down all
the measurements there should be a
blank sheet and the previous year’s
sheet that can be used as a guideline
if needed. Take into consideration
that the previous year pattern could
have been altered due to arena
conditions/ set up
Please “v” each marker to the
wall and write the measurements
on the barrel dimension sheet this
will help the judges’ remark if a
marker goes missing throughout the
performances
Before you start marking, you will
need to know which gate the barrel
racers will enter and exit, also whether
it will be a closed gate or run out
The pattern must be marked that
it is centered to the gate with 1st and
2nd barrel equal distance from the
gate
Please be precise when measuring!
Make sure tapes are always pulled
right and hold them on the exact
measurement required
Once the pattern is set and
measurements are filled out on the
sheet, you must have a judge go
through all the measurements with
you

After a break during the winter months, the 2016
spring SHSRA rodeos will kick off on May 7 and 8 in
Pilot Butte, followed by May 14 and 15 in Weyburn,
and May 21, 22, and 23 in Swift Current. We will finish
the spring season and crown our provincial champions
at the provincial finals, held June 2-5, also in Swift
Current. After two years in Estevan, we look forward
to the new finals location. The top 5 juniors and top
6 high school competitors after our provincial finals
will have the opportunity to represent Saskatchewan
at the Canadian High School Finals Rodeo in Nanton,
Alberta this July. The top 4 competitors in the Junior
High Division (grades 6-8) will also have a chance to
compete at the National Junior High Finals Rodeo,
held in Lebanon, Tennessee in June. The top four
competitors in the High School Division (grades 9-12)
will qualify for the National High School Finals Rodeo,
held in Gillette, Wyoming in July. The newly-crowned
SHSRA Queen will represent Saskatchewan in Gillette
as well, and compete to be the National High School
Rodeo Queen. We have many girls competing for the
honor within our province this year.
If you or someone you know are interested in becoming
a Saskatchewan High School Rodeo member or have
any questions regarding the association, please contact
any representative on the SHSRA board.
We have a very exciting rodeo season ahead of us,
filled with rodeos and many fun dances, dummy
ropings, fundraisers, and more. We hope to see you at
one of our rodeos this season!

What is your favorite memory or experience so far?:
To date, my favorite rodeo experience for sure
is K.C.R.A. Finals 2014, round two to be specific.
When I was coming down the alley for Junior
Girl’s Barrel Racing I heard the announcer, Warren
Allin, say “The black horse she rides, his name
is Ace. Ace is the 2014 Junior Girls Barrel Racing
Horse of the Year.” That was my proudest moment
so far as a competitor. We ended up winning that
round of the finals by nine tenths of a second.
Your Inspiration:
My inspiration is Scott Sigfusson. More than
anyone ever has, he has shown me that sacrifice
and hard work really are the keys to making your
dreams come true. Scott taught me the value of
using all 24 hours in the day to better yourself as
a cowboy and competitor.
What message would you like to share with city kids who
are interested in Rodeo?:
Rodeo is the greatest sport in the world; it
demands great physical and mental strength and

intensity, but it is also the most fun you will ever
have in your life. The competitive spirit will only
better you as an athlete and the endless support
of the “rodeo family” will show you the true
definition of friendship. I encourage anyone and
everyone to experience the rodeo atmosphere!
Where can we see you compete this season?:
This year I will be competing in Saskatchewan
High School Rodeos, Kakeyow Cowboys Rodeo
Association sanctioned events, as well as a few
Canadian Cowboys Association Rodeos. I can’t
wait for the season to begin!
Oops sorry!
Morgan Anderson, our April
Youth of Rodeo, is the son of Dale
and Cheryl Anderson not Brent
and Twila Zunti. However anyone
would be very lucky to have
Morgan as their son.
