2016 OLLIS Giving Rainbow

The goal of the Giving Rainbow is to give guests the opportunity to purchase
items that will directly benefit the students and teachers in the classroom. The
focus of this year's rainbow is technology. Our goal is to increase the number of
devices, like iPads and Chromebooks, in student hands. Help us go for the
gold as we increase our student to device ratio.
Items on the rainbow range from $25 to $7,500. Guests can purchase a share
of a device, individual iPads or Chromebooks or an entire cart filled with 30
devices. If a guest purchases a filled cart($7,500), an engraved plate, thanking
the donor, will be added to the cart. The cost of larger items can be shared
among multiple guests. Talk to your friends and family about sharing the cost
of a big-ticket item before the POG auction night! How to participate:





Visit the Giving Rainbow at the Pot O’ Gold Auction
Choose your piece of gold from the Giving Rainbow or ask a volunteer to help
find an item for you.
Show your piece of gold to a volunteer. The volunteer will write down your bid
number and this will be given to the bank.
Place your gold in the pot to help fill our Pot O’ Gold for our teachers &
students
Pay the bank at the end of the evening.

Auction Guidelines
General Auction Rules




You will receive your bidder number when you register.
Payment can be made by cash, check, Visa or MasterCard.
ALL SALES FINAL - PAYMENT IN FULL IS DUE TONIGHT!
OLLIS has attempted to describe and catalog all items correctly,
but all items are offered and sold “as is”.
 Consortium bids must be settled by the winning bid number.
Following payment, all items must be picked up on auction night: gift
certificates/tickets will be available at the bank, and other articles may
be picked up at their respective auction tables. Pick-up for larger items
is available on Sunday, March 20th, from 10am-12 pm at Fr. Tolton
High School with prior approval.
Silent Auction Rules

The Silent Auction will begin at 6 p.m. Bid by writing your bidder
number on the bid sheet next to the bid amount.
 The Silent Auction will be conducted in six sections. You may bid
on any item in a section until that section closes.
 The last CORRECT bid circled by the auction official constitutes
the winning bid. A copy of each bid sheet will remain on the auction
table throughout the night.
Guaranteed Bid
Aren’t you tired of running back and forth to check on your favorite
silent auction item? When you find that special item, don’t risk losing
it to someone else. A special feature may be used in the silent auction
areas to guarantee you as the winning bidder.
How to use the Guaranteed Bid feature:
 On the bottom of the bid sheet, find the Guaranteed Bid section.
If you’re willing to pay the listed price, enter your bidder number
and name and you are guaranteed the winning bid!
 Enjoy placing a big “X” across the bid sheet to indicate to
everyone that bidding has ceased on that item.
 You will be held accountable for the Guaranteed Bid price at the
end of the auction, just as you would on any other
purchase.

Auction Guidelines
Live Auction Rules

The Live Auction will begin at 8:15 p.m. and will continue
without interruption until all items have been auctioned.
 To bid, raise your bid number high and attract the attention of the
auctioneer or an auction spotter. The auctioneer will acknowledge the
winning bid number at the conclusion of each item.
 Your bidder number is your identification.
IRS Guidelines
The IRS requires that charitable organizations, such as OLLIS, inform
their contributors about the deductibility of payments and donations
made by patrons for fundraising activities. The following are guidelines
provided to assist you in your tax preparation:

Auction tickets – Each auction dinner ticket is tax
deductible to the extent that it exceeds the fair market
value of the meal cost which is $10.

The value set for each item is a “good faith estimate” as
required by the IRS. You may deduct only what is paid
in excess of each gift’s fair market value.

Cash contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent
of the law (i.e. Giving Rainbow).

The Pot O’ Gold Auction receipt should serve as your
official receipt for items purchased.

Raffle tickets and games of chance are NOT deductible.
