f you drop a ball of string from a peak of Mt Parnassos, it’ll
cross forests, rocks, paths, ancient temples, country chapels,
almond yards, olive groves and finally will follow the line that
leads straight to the sea, to the Kressean Gulf. A place that for
centuries witnessed the willingness of the pilgrims to step on the
holy soil of the “Navel of the Earth”, the Delphi Oracle, in order
to hear the divine prophecy that would enlighten their future.
Nowadays, this string is still unfolding. Time has made friends
with earth and they both decided that beauty should never
leave nature alone. But nature doesn’t feel lonely at all. She has
been embraced by history, and together they spend their time
narrating tales of the past to every voyager who crosses their
land.

Is Delphi an archaeological site or a city?
Which is the best season to visit Delphi and how?
Delphi is a city that host’s one of the most significant archaeological sites
worldwide. The 1892 excavations brought the ancient Delphi Oracle
into light. It was buried for centuries under the Kastri village. Kastri was
relocated a few hundred meters further as soon as the excavations
begun and renamed Delphi. Delphi, along with Chrisso, established
(1942) the Municipality of Delphi.
Every season has it’s own beauty in Delphi. Winter is relatively mild
and you will enjoy the mountain, either hiking or skiing. Summer,
free of humidity, is ideal combining sea & mountain as small distances
permit you so. Flourishing Spring and refreshing Autumn are perfect for
outdoor activities of any kind as well.
To be honest, i don’t exactly remember where Delphi is located.
Delphi is in Greece. It is located at Sterea Ellada (Mainland Greece), at
the Fokida prefecture. Fokida is one of the smallest Greek prefectures
and Amfissa is its capital city.
Can someone actually stay at Delphi or prolong a visit?
You surely can for as long as you wish. Delphi has a well-organized

Chrisso is located at the base of mt Parnassos, just 5 km southwest
of Delphi. A traditional village situated over the famous ancient olive
grove of Amfissa. Big architecture interest and a strategic junction of
the ancient pilgrims pathway on the way to Delphi Oracle. You can
also stay in Chrisso and enjoy the traditional hospitality of the greek
countryside.
Car and bus access to Delphi is a piece of cake. Two hours (2h) by
car (via Levadia) and just a bit more (2h:40) by bus. Port of Patras
is also close to Delphi by car or by bus (2h, via Rio bridge & Itea).
Thessaloniki as well in just 4h:30. Trains (via Levadia) can also fit your
travel plans from both Athens and Thessaloniki. With bus connections
from Delphi to Thessaly and Peloponese, visiting other parts of Greece
(ex. Meteora, Olympia) is also a great option.

elphi is a modern residential area and the evolutional

hrisso is the other half consisting the Municipality of Delphi
transformation of ancient Delphi Oracle. Official excavations
and it is located at the base of Mt Parnassos and just a few meters
(1893) led to the abandonment of the old village of Kastri and
above the over-perennial olive grove of Amfissa. Characterized

“Camping Chrissa” is spread amphitheatrically in many levels with a view
to the Corinthian bay and the planted with olives plain of Chrissa and
Amfissa. It has 70 ample spaces for tents and caravans with thick shadow
electricity and water supply.
From 1975 when the camping was established we are engaged to offer first
class services. For that reason every year we are trying to offer even more.
Our aim is to contribute to your having the most comfortable and relaxing
holidays. With respect and devotion to our clients we keep our camping
clean, we try to insure the tranquillity during the repose hours and at last
but not least. We take care of your safety by illuminating our place by having
a fire proofing system and by checking the entrance during the night.
