CEO’s Message
Dear Colleagues,
Employee Engagement – Key to Success
I have consistently communicated that “Human
Human Capital Management
(HCM)” or “People Management (PM)”” is critical for an organization’s
growth. Good people can create wealth in sick company by turning
around whereas people with personal agendas not in line with
organization’s requirements can make good company sick.
Thus, creating “engaged employees” is the need of the hour for all
business requirements.
What is Employee Engagement and how to enhance this?
Employee engagement is a key tool to enhance the performance level of
the workforce. Employee must realize and assess the connection between
company’s objectives and his contribution, which is possible only if
an employee seeks ways to accomplish a task and remain motivated.
Corporate success lies in recruiting best talent and retaining them. Best
employees make best company.
Commitment, Culture, Cooperation and taking responsibilities are
instrumental in achieving higher engagement and enhancement levels.
Commitment : Employees with high degree of commitment are must to
exercise higher efforts and contribute for the company.
Culture : Include Vision, Leadership, Strategy and healthy HR Policies of
the Company and achieve powered engagement.
Cooperation : To inculcate team spirit and to have positive environment
in the company. It should be the volunteered effort of employees to pull the
organization in a growth oriented direction to achieve ultimate goals i.e.
perfect alignment of thoughts and tasks of all employees.
Taking Responsibility : nitiatives to become part of a solution (and not
widening the gap) is important for engagement. If any employee is loyal to
company, then he should take responsibility, which empowers him to create
belongingness and get engaged in emotional level to give his best. Taking
responsibility is not only to job under you, but even to others in your team.
For example, the way all football players come to rescue of goalkeeper even
though it is goal keepers duty to prevent the goal. Engaged employees will
render higher level of performance to avoid negativity and create team spirit.
They always perform better and
motivated. They create sense of
motivated
loyalty and provide initiatives.
They will change the working
environment. They will create
internal brand and will be brand
ambassadors of the organization.
Recognition, support from
supervisors and value system of
colleagues i.e. whether we “walk
to talk” in terms of company values
are all important to have committed
employees with full engagement.
HR Department at Anjani have
been focusing in these areas to
get the perceptions, suggestions
and empathy with the Company
to correct and improve our
employees’ engagement through
constant learning and continuous
development.
Wish you all good luck in creating
the best team in Anjani and hope
you will help to build strong Anjani
Brand.
Kind regards,
SVS Shetty

Tips to Improve
Communication
Skills at Work Place
Mr. K Satish Chandra
Senior Manager, HR
Communicating effectively is an art
and must be practiced effectively
at workplace for better output and
successful achievement of goals
of the organization. It also helps
in reducing the error rate, better
understanding of work and better
bonding among the employees as
well as conflict management. Every
employee must be very clear what his
colleague want to convey. He must
accordingly be able to decode the
information in the desired form and
respond accordingly. Information
passing through from Top Level
to Bottom level should be Crisp &
Clear.
Let us read through how one
can improve communication
skills at work place
An individual must try his level best
to keep the pitch at an optimum
level which is audible to one and
all.
• The thoughts or the idea must
be carefully put into appropriate
words and carefully spoken in the
correct accent to create the impact
among the listeners. “Language
should not be a barrier for Good
Communication Skill”.
• The meeting or the presentation
must be kept interactive for
everyone to participate and take
interest. One must keep in mind
that even people on the last desk
are also a part of the meeting,
they must be involved.
• One must be clear about the
subject before communicating
with others
• Prepare lots of real life case
studies so that the listeners are
able to relate themselves with the
presentation and some funny one
liners, some light jokes can be
cracked in between to break the
monotony.
• Avoid discussing serious issues
at the employee’s workstations,
front office area, cafeteria or
playgrounds as noise acts as a
barrier to effective communication
and the message will never
reach the recipient in its desired
form. Always organize meetings,
seminars or important discussions
in the conference room, board
room or any other meeting room
where silence can be maintained.
• Before any meeting, the addressee
must prepare the agenda of
the meeting and do a complete
research on the topic he wishes
to speak on. Don’t just speak for
the sake of it; instead do your
homework carefully.
• In an organization, the team
leader or HOD must first try to
understand the thought process
and the cultural background
before assigning any work to his
team members. Employees must
be delegated the responsibilities
keeping in mind their interest and
comfort level. Transparency must
be maintained at all levels in an
organization and the employees
must have an easy access to their
seniors for an easy and effective
communication.
• Effective means of “business
communication”, the pitch and
tone also plays a very important
role in effective communication.
• Any business meeting must not be
kept too long otherwise it tends
to become a little monotonous
and the participants tend to
lose interest. A tea break or a
snack break should be included
in business meetings to make
it more interesting, friendly and
also to break the ice among the
participants & junior colleagues.
• One should always take the aid of
whiteboards, digital boards and
demonstrative charts. Participants
should scribble the important
points in Notepads for better
understanding of the topic and
this helps in interaction.
• Speaker should use words like
“Clear?”, “Am I audible?” Is
everyone with me?” these simple
words will be useful for an effective
participation and this helps
participants to concentrate.
• Don’t leave any topic in between,
instead first finish one topic and
then start a fresh one. Eye contact
must be made between the sender
and the recipient for the bang on
effect.
• Before concluding the meeting,
especially in long sessions the
important points of the meeting
15. Mix Design of Concrete is the process of deciding the proportions of the ingredients of concrete so as to be produced most
economically, that would satisfy the desired properties of fresh and hardened concrete as well.
Remember it is mandatory to
effectively communicate at work
place as it ensures the smooth and
the correct flow of information from
the first party to the second party
or in a structural procedure. One
can be a diligent worker, but if he
does not master the art of effective
communication, he will fail to create
his identity and will be lost in the cruel
competitive corporate world.
• Participants should not hesitate to ask even smallest query, remember
no one will laugh at you, instead will appreciate your attentiveness and
willingness to learn.
• At work place it is important to understand the recipient properly. Know
your listener as much as you can and then prepare your content. If you have
to address the sales force, include some sales jargons, marketing tricks
and so on to capture their interest. Communicate properly as haphazard
sentences, abstract thoughts, confusing words only lead to misinterpretations
and the outcome is a complete mess. Always keep your script simple, crisp
and up to the point. Unnecessarily dragging a conversation also leads to
boredom.
5th Issue
must be discussed once again for everyone to recollect what happened
in the meeting and the listeners must also clear all their doubts with the
speaker before leaving.

Did you know?
The inner meaning
of offering a coconut
to God
We never offer the coconut as it is.
We remove the fibre that covers it
and offer the fruit that is free from
all the external fibre. Only then is
it possible to break the coconut.
The heart is the coconut is covered
by the fibre of desire. By breaking
the coconut, the water in it flows
out. The water that flows out is the
'Samskara' or purification. The fibres
on the surface are the desires. We
must strip the heart of all desires
and offer the core.
It then becomes an offering to God.
If we plant a coconut as it is, in course of time and by watering it, another
plant will grow out of it. At the time of germination, there is water in it. At this
time, the kernel will be clinging to the sides of the fruit. The water in due time
gets dried up and the kernel shrivels up. If we try to get the kernel out, plant
it and water it, nothing will happen. Our body may be compared to the shell
and our life to the kernel. Our Samskaras are the waters inside the coconut.
As long as there are Samskaras within us, the heart will cling to the body
consciousness just as the kernel clings to the fruit..
19
Now the significance of the ritual when you hand over the coconut to the priest
is as follows: We take only the hard shell, with a little tuft of the coir on the top of
the coconut into the temple and not the whole coconut with its outer covering
and coir. This indicates that we have left all worldly desires before entering
the temple. The tuft of coir on top represents the remaining spiritual growth
related desires. The priest now breaks the hard shell representing mind and
revealing of the kernel, depicting revelation of the true Self and then tears
away this remaining bunch of coir (depicting no desires left).
18. There are about 50 companies making efforts to set up their cement plants
July 2012
The human body is composed of
Gross Body, Mind and Spirit. The
smooth outer skin of the coconut
represents man's Gross Body.
Within the Gross body is the subtle
body of mind. This is represented
by the matted coir of the coconut,
indicating
the
desires
and
attachments of man with the outer
world. The hard shell represents the
Causal Body and the white inside
the Kernel represents the Soul.
