Our engineers listened to you and set
out to build a bike that was the most
fun at legal speeds. On an MT-09
you don’t have to be breaking the
limit to enjoy the rush of acceleration,
supremely matched to an agile,
lightweight chassis.
They say you don’t choose your family… but if you could then the
MT range are the folk you’d want to hang out with. Four sharp
shooting, sports mad brothers with a lust for life…
An insane amount of instant torque is the strongest MT family
trait. Even identical twins would struggle to comprehend the close
relationship that your right wrist has with your rear wheel. Such
precision controllability makes for a top stunt machine – whether
you prefer one, two or three cylinders. And a trick tricks bike makes
for an awesome street machine.
Of course you don’t have to ride like the black sheep of the family
to get the most out of an MT. Because, like good parents, the MT
range offers a solid platform from which to express yourself.
MT-09 is everything you need and
nothing you don’t. We could have
specced four cylinders, but to achieve
that all important power-to-weight
advantage and massive, instant
torque, we only needed three. And
the triple engine gives a natural
crossplane crank effect that delivers
the traction and linear torque that you
demand.

But we did spec industry leading
control technologies such as Yamaha
Chip Controlled Throttle and D-Mode
switchable power maps. Because we
want you to be in full control in all
conditions.
Hauling up this lightweight package is
no chore but we still went with radial
mount calipers and two big floating
rotors up front. Because you can
never have enough brakes.

Yamaha D-MODE: select the
soul you want in different riding
situations, MT-09 is equipped with the
Yamaha D-MODE system. The rider
has a choice of three different throttle
valve control mapping settings, STD
Mode, A Mode and B Mode.

CF aluminium die-cast frame.
The space-saving and weight-reducing
features employed on the new engine
have given our designers great
freedom in the design of the frame.

Integrated single-piece 3-into-1
exhaust system and short muffler
featuring three internal expansion
chambers. The stubby muffler emits
a pleasing sound that highlights
the bike’s unique character, and
its concealed under-slung location
contributes towards the centralisation
of mass, which in turn helps to
ensure light and responsive handling
performance.
