This booklet is designed to focus on foundational practices for detoxification and self-healing that
will help you create and maintain higher levels of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual
health.
Our bodies are so wonderfully designed to heal themselves. This is why detoxification,
purification and rejuvenation are the foundation for optimum health . Healing is the
willingness to cleanse the body, mind and soul in order for the innate wisdom of the
body to heal us. Dis-ease and aging are not requirements, they are options! They are
hazardous to your health and happiness!
This booklet focuses on essential insights and practices for supporting our innate selfhealing and self-regulatory functioning. The spring cleanse involves intestinal cleansing
and restoration, liver, kidney, gallbladder detoxification, breast and prostate protection
and cancer prevention. Detoxification promotes metabolic efficiency, improved
circulation, and cognitive enhancement. As part of the detoxification process, we need
to improve the very root of our health - our digestion and assimilation and to strengthen
every level of our immune systems. By using a whole systems approach we may also
choose to reflect on the biology of belief and attitude and practice simple tools for
detoxifying our emotions, transforming stress and fear to induce self-healing and
optimum health.

When we reflect on health it is useful to remember that to heal is to reconnect and
become whole again. To be whole is to be connected to the source of our own being and
to take response-ability for our creations. The result of staying connected -to ourselves
and our worlds - is we feel an increase in energy. This is because it depletes our energy
maintain separation. When we are connected, we follow our inner guidance and discover
the true source of healing within our ourselves. This enables us to increase and direct the
inborn healing abilities of our own bodies and naturally focus our consciousness back in
the bodies and heal.

What Is Detoxification?
Detoxification is the process of clearing toxins from the body or neutralizing or
transforming them, and clearing excess mucus and congestion. Many of these toxins
come from our diet, drug use, and environmental exposure, both acute and chronic.

Internally, fats, especially oxidized fats and cholesterol, free radicals, and other irritating
molecules act as toxins. Functionally, poor digestion, colon sluggishness and
dysfunction, reduced liver function, and poor elimination through the kidneys,
respiratory tract, and skin all add to increased toxicity.
Detoxification involves dietary and lifestyle changes that reduce intake of toxins and
improve elimination. Avoidance of chemicals, from food or other sources, refined food,
sugar, caffeine, alcohol, tobacco, and many drugs helps minimize the toxin load.
Drinking extra water (purified) and increasing fiber by including more fruits and
vegetables in the diet are steps in the detoxification process. Moving from a more to a
less congesting diet, as shown in the accompanying table, will help us to move along the
detox road.

Detoxification therapy, such as fasting, is one of the oldest treatments known to
humans and is a completely natural process. In many cases, as we listen to our
inner guidance, as animals do, we may apply this process to many illnesses and
states of health and life.
Many authorities claim the detox process helps clear wastes and old or dead cells
and revitalizes the body’s natural functions and healing capacities. Of the many
of people that I know who have used cleansing programs, the vast majority have
experienced positive and incredible results. As I believe that
fasting/cleansing/detoxification is the missing link in Western nutrition, and if
we used this process more in our daily lives and our medical system, we could
heal and prevent a great deal of disease.

Starting with lots of Springtime wonder and ahhh Love, appreciation and a notion
about the kindness you may be offering yourself with this Self-Care…
First week:
1. Inspiring Intestinal Cleanse (IIC) using “Nature’s Pure Body
Program” – A 7 day alkalization foundation with initiation of gentle intestinal
cleansing. Continue supplements for this for the next 3-6 weeks.
Evaluate for beginning liver support and detoxification:
• Paleo Cleanse, Mediclear or UltraClear Plus 1-2 scoups – 2x daily
as a delightful drink
• Liver Flushes 1-2x weekly
• Evaluate for liver flushes or liver purge

OIL CHANGE time. First week no oils except essential fatty acids
omega 3 and omega 6, and a small amount of olive oil.

Week 1: Liver Cleanse using Paleo Cleanse, Ultra Clear Plus or MediClear
(hypoallergenic rice based excellent protein powder for liver detox, vegetable
soups, vegetable juices, smoothies with “Pure Synergy”, 1 cup masoor dhal (red
lentils) daily.
Week 2: same as above
Week 3: This next stage involves re-introducing 4-6 oz of high quality protein 3x
daily. This could be Alaskan Salmon (or other deep water non-mercury fish),
organic turkey or chicken (high quality protein does not contain the high
arachonic acids which cause inflammation...). Also all the vegetables continue
and can increase but we don't need to blend them. Steamed veggies.... Steamed
veggies rolled in Nori with pickled ginger and dipped in wonderful dips (recipes
were included in original packet). The way I usually make a simple dip is to
cook up the cup of red lentils and then add to it herbs, basil, spices...and then if
one wants it to turn green just add baby spinach, orange - add turmeric and
ginger or pink - blend in beets...ah colors of nutrition.
Also, this step involves the "Oil Change". So included in the dips might be the 2
Tbsp. of pure Flax oil (or fish oil?) or cod liver oil...high omega 3 fatty acids. This
step after clearing the old oils from the liver and the tissues brings these essential
oils in to remake the cell walls... The cell wall is the most important for nutrient
transport across the cell membrane that brings deep cellular nutrition, nutrients
are taken in and by products eliminated. Also when the cell membrane with the
essential fatty acids becomes fluid and less rigid and then the hormones can
work more efficiently deeply and responsively connecting the cells tissues and
organs...and even the cell membrane is said to be where consciousness is
responded to through the microtubules...so included 2 Tbsp. of high quality flax
or fish oils...enough to make about 2000 to 9000 grams of EPA, DHA.

Here are some ideas:
o Breakfast – Explore a zesty tea?… ginger, cardamom (opens the heart chakra),
green tea cinnamon stick, cloves, lemon juice…licorice root…could a ritual of
Self-Care be felt in your tea ceremony? Or fresh organic vegetable juices…or
how about a tempting green smoothie using Organic green powders like
“Pure Synergy” or “Perfect Food” or VitaMineral” by HealthForce available at Staff of
Life…

o Greens, greens, greens…(the heart chakra’s color radiates green… life greens)
…greens, so rich in alkalizing vitamins and minerals which help relax the
sympathetic nervous system and naturally cleanse and alkalinize the body.
This miraculously facilitates its natural Self-regulation (Self-healing!). A bit
later you might consider having “dinner for breakfast”! Delicious high
quality protein like salmon (Alaskan), lightly steamed organic broccoli, kale,
baby bok choy, asparagus, snap or snow peas, green beans, rainbow
chard…how about a for a variation…rolled in nori with pickled ginger…?
Make this wonderful rainbow vegetable celebration and have it with a tasty
dip like cilantro pesto or sauce using blended seeds, nuts, or a cooked dhal
(like red lentils) with fresh veggies, Braggs, flax seed oil or blended flax seeds
(if you have a Vitamix), fresh basil, mint, oregano, lemon juice, ginger juice,
and your favorite spices like coriander, turmeric, cumin, etc. eat it with
plenty of extra enzymes, for example Lipase Concentrate Enzymes to help
you digest your essential fatty acids are useful.
o Need a snack? How about some organic baby carrots, Steamed organic
greens…green smoothie…
o Or a drink of “Daily Energy Infusion” or UltraClear Plus mixed
with organic apple sauce or almond milk…possibly unsweetened
soy milk…see recipes in UltraClear booklet.
o Or glass of “Pure Synergy” and soya milk…
o A glass of fresh organic vegetable juices with fresh ginger or
turmeric root…
o Seaweed soup, Beiler’s broth, potassium broth, brasco broth,

o Lunch – gently baked or boiled organic chicken, turkey, salmon, lamb…
organic spring salad with lots of cilantro, all types of lettuce, alfalfa sprouts,
cucumber, sunflower sprouts, clover sprouts, bean sprouts of all types… and
some cut vegetables steamed or raw and a delectable dip or try:
Cilantro Chelation Pesto
1 clove of garlic
1/2 cup of almonds, cashews, or other nuts
1 cup packed fresh cilantro leaves
2 tablespoons lemon juice
6 tablespoons olive oil or flax seed oil, Essential Oil blend…
"Put the cilantro and olive oil in blender and process until the cilantro is chopped. Add
the rest of the ingredients and process to a lumpy paste. (You may need to add a touch of
hot water and scrape the sides of the blender.) You can change the consistency by altering
the amount of olive oil and lemon juice, but keep the 3:1 ratio of oil to juice. (If freezes
well, so you can make several batches at once.)
Alkalizing Seaweed Soup:
50 g. seaweed – all types

1 cup of shitaki mushrooms or 1/4 package of dry mushrooms
2 inches green onion (sliced length wise into strips)
2 cups chicken broth or vegetable broth or miso soup
1/4 tsp. Celtic salt and fresh pepper for your favorite spices
1 tsp. Bragg’s liquid aminos
1. Cut seaweed into bite size pieces. Wash mushrooms, cut off and discard root. Cut
mushroom across into half.
2. Add pepper, Bragg’s liquid aminos or soy sauce, salt (if needed), mushroom, seaweed
to broth. In small pot, heat to gentle boiling. Garnish with green onion and serve with
love.
o 3:00 pm Need a snack? How about some organic baby carrots, celery, green
beans, peas and a dip…Cilantro pesto…ginger and nori with Greens…Or
some Beiler’s broth, potassium broth, Brasco broth etc. or …a drink of “Daily

broccoli, kale, baby bok choy, asparagus, snap or snow peas, green beans,
rainbow chard…make this wonderful rainbow vegetable celebration and
have it with a tasty dip or sauce using blended seeds, nuts, or a cooked dhal
(like red lentils) blended with some fresh veggies, Braggs, flax seed oil or
blended flax seeds (if you have a Vitamix), fresh basil, mint, oregano, lemon
juice, ginger juice, and your favorite spikes like coriander, turmeric, cumin, a
little fresh pepper, garlic? etc.
o Evening snack? – acidophilus and chromium picolinate plus ??? GREENS,
…seaweed soup, potassium broth, Peruvian maca root in warm water,
licorice root tea with almond milk (no unsweetened varieties exist so
unsweetened soya milk useful)…love and peaceful perceptions.

2013 Spring Cleanse Recipes
PEACEFUL REPOSE OF THE HEART

Elements of this program are written below in a check list format. These elements should
be individualized, carefully monitored and supported with loving kindness and selfacceptance in a rhythm of daily self-care activities.
 Lemon Structured Water Alkalinizer
Drink one 8 oz. glass of pure water with the juice of half a lemon squeezed into it on
rising.
 Live Organic Vegetable Juices!
Four times daily have 6 oz. of a combination of any or all of the following fresh
vegetable juices: Carrot, beet, parsley, celery, celery root, cilantro, ginger root, turmeric
root, green pepper, garlic, cucumber, green beans, wheat grass, tart apple (for pectin
which helps the blood sugar to stay more stable).
 Cucumber, celery, parsley, ginger (combination for people with carbohydrate

reduce all consumption of carbohydrates to 20 grams total. There are comprehensive lists

Ideal meal plans consist of 4-6 oz of high quality protein, like organic chicken or turkey and a
plateful of beautiful organic steamed vegetables with a flavorful herbal spice garnish or sauce.
Vegetables are alkalizing.
To promote the body’s self-regulation and natural healing
an emphasis on these nutrient dense foods is useful. Alkalizing foods include all forms of
chlorophyll. This includes fresh, steamed, baked or grilled vegetables, especially organic green
leafy and green fleshy vegetables like baby bok choy, kale, broccoli, cilantro, all type of sprouts,
and especially sea veggies. It also includes brown rice, millet, quinoa, and amaranth grains,
herbs and herb teas, seeds (except sesame seeds), lemons, limes and cultured foods (like raw
cultured vegetables, yogurt, kefir, organic apple cider vinegar), and soaked almonds. Acidforming foods are: animal foods like beef, poultry, eggs, fish, and shellfish, sugary foods or
sweeteners such as Saccharin or NutraSweet (aspartame), soft drinks, wheat flour foods, large
beans, tofu, most nuts and nut butters (except almonds), wine or other alcoholic beverages,
commercial vinegars or condiments. If you crave sweets, use the herb Stevia in your tea.

Drink plenty of Potassium Broth - Bieler’s Alkalizing Vegetable Broths (see recipes). One of the
most effective nutritional cleanses is to concentrate on vegetables, high quality proteins and
power food smoothies. Eliminate "stimulatory intake". This includes coffee, caffeine teas, alcohol
and drugs (both pharmaceutical and recreational). These substances throw neuro-hormonal
regulation and "timing of pituitary pulse" off. Stay on a "regulatory diet". Eat foods "the way nature
made them" and avoiding foods that are processed or refined, as they do not support the self-regulatory
functions of body. Eat high quality proteins - 50 grams for females and 63 grams for males. (depending on
body size and activity). On higher protein diets the blood will shift toward the acidic and require ammonia
from the kidney and/or alkaline calcium from the connective tissues and bones to buffer it.
 Detox Intestinal Bulking Drink
Into 8 oz. of pure water mixed with either 2 tablespoons of liquid chlorophyll or _
teaspoon of licorice root extract add
• 2 heaping teaspoons of "Herbulk", “Rejuve-Powder” or psyllium husk mixture and
• 1 tablespoon of liquid bentonite (Bentonite is known for its highly absorptive
properties and its ability to draw out and bind heavy metals, drugs and other toxins from
the body)
Have 1-4 drinks per day, if possible 2 x daily. It is better to take these drinks at least one
half hour away from your nutrient drinks.
Power Drink for an energy boost:
Beyond Fiber 1 rounded tsp

Mix these products with quality bottled water, such as Penta to maximize the
effectiveness of the drink. It is also possible to add various fruit juices for a different taste
and ice cubes to keep it cold over longer periods. Enjoy!
 Rhythm – Daily Routine and Rhythm with early morning “inward focusing of
attention” (meditation, prayer, relaxation), breath awareness, and daily EXERCISE
PROGRAM.
 Play – cultivate happiness and Joy “Life is a place of wonder, not a problem to be
solved.”
 Liver Flush (This may involve the great 22 day “Plunge” for neurotoxins or other
recipes may be used as appropriate. It is essential to support liver detoxification. If you
are not doing the specified “22 days groundwork and plunge” several mornings during
the cleanse take this drink. While you are giving the liver a rest during this period, this
drink will help to flush out its toxins and restore its natural vitality.
 Kidney Flush (See instructions if appropriate)
 Purification Tea:
Make red clover tea, “Purification Tea”, or Chai (see recipes below) with high quality
water. If indicated, add to it 1/2 teaspoon of "Tai Ra Chi". This is a Brazilian herbal
formula that prevents yeast from increasing and helps to eliminate harmful yeast
and bacteria from the body. You may have several cups per day.

This detoxification system contains a “Colon Cleanser” and “Whole Body
Cleanse”.
The Colon Cleanser is useful for anyone who tends toward constipation.
Start with ½ to 1 tablet 2x daily and take enough to have 2 complete bowel
movements daily.
The Pure Body Cleanse is designed to help flush toxicity out of the cells, tissues,
liver and kidneys and purify the blood. Substances are flushed into the gastrointestinal tract and then cleared with the Detox Intestinal Bulking Drink (see
above formulation).
Start with 3 tablets 2x daily and over a week increase to 5-7 tablets 2x daily.
 Dr. Richard Schulze's Intestinal Formula #1 for 2 weeks then Formula #2.
“Ingredients:
Organic Flax seed, Apple Fruit Pectin, Pharmaceutical Grade Bentonite Clay, Psyllium seed and husk, Wildcrafted Slippery Elm inner

Liver Flush
- This drink may also be taken several mornings during the first weeks of the
cleanse to help stimulate the liver and prepare it for the deeper “Big Plunge”. This helps to
activate the liver and begins to flush out its stored toxins and helps regenerate its function. The
liver is one of the most important organs, with multiple functions. The largest glandular structure
in the body, it manufactures hormones and blood protein. It creates the clotting mechanisms for
the blood and filters the blood. It manufactures, stores and secretes vitamins and other nutrients.
Combine the following ingredients and drink the Liver Flush in the morning.
Juice of 1 to 2 lemons, freshly squeezed
Juice of 3 oranges, freshly squeezed or fresh organic apple juice
1 tsp. of grated fresh ginger
1 pinch of cayenne pepper
1 to 3 cloves freshly crushed garlic
1 tablespoon pure cold pressed olive oil

Royal Liver and Gallbladder Flush
The purpose of this flush is to remove obstructions from the gallbladder and to stimulate
the liver and restore digestive integrity. This flush has been done by children as well
as elderly and is well tolerated. It is recommended however if you have known
gallstones not to undertake this process without close supervision.
This flush improves the immune system by detoxifying the liver and gallbladder. It is a
powerful rejuvenator and acts as an important detoxifying agent which helps to
restore the normal function of the liver and gallbladder by flushing out stones from
the gallbladder and hepatic ducts. The liver produces bile daily which is stored in the
gallbladder and released when fats are consumed. The bile emulsifies the fats and
lubricates the digestive tract. Dietary indiscretions such as refined and fried foods
and excess animal proteins, lack of exercise alter the pH of the body. To counteract
the acids, the body utilizes the calcium in the bone and the sodium in the bile. In the
latter case, this process leaves behind the cholesterol which precipitates and forms
what is know as gallstones which may interfere with the free flow of bile. This flush
releases these formations.
Since the body produces bile on a daily basis, and since very little is released due to a
restricted intake of fats, the bile builds up; then a rather large dose of fats is taken in
the form of 4-6 oz of olive oil, the gall bladder literally dumps its entire contents to
emulsify the fats. In so doing, everything is released, including the green globules
know as gallstones.
This procedure is simple and easy. Eat no fats during the cleanse for 4 days. Drink at
least 2 quarts of fresh apple juice (optional carrot/ginger juice) for the pectin content
and the malic acid in the apple juice softens any stones. If Candida or hypoglycemia
are present, cucumber, celery, ginger juice is an alternative. Some people use 30
drops 3 times daily of ortho-phosphoric acid instead of the apple juice to soften the
gallbladder contents.
At noon on the day of the Royal Liver Gallbladder Flush, mix 2 tablespoons epsom salts
(magnesium sulfate) in a glass of warm water as your breakfast. This will act as a
purgative. Wait one hour and then drink your juices for the rest of the day. Just
before bed drink 4-6 oz. extra virgin olive oil mixed with 4-6 oz of lemon juice. Go
to bed and lie on your right side with your right knee drawn up to your chest for _
hour. This opens the channels of energy for the liver and gallbladder. Visualize dark
burgundy all around you as you fall asleep.
The next morning, take a coffee enema with _ cup of epsom salts dissolved in the
solution.
 Cleansing Enemas
First do cleansing enema with salt water, 1 tsp. Per pint of body temp. water clean
out fecal matter then do the appropriate type as written below:
Licorice Root Enema
• Make a decoction of licorice root.
• Simmer 3 heaping tablespoons of licorice root in 3 cups of pure water for 20
minutes.
• Strain and add 1 cup water and 1/2 cup cold pressed sesame oil plus 1/4 tsp.
salt.

Simmer gently until 2 cups remain.
Strain and add 1/2 cup of cool pure water.
Add 1/2 cup of sesame oil.
Add 1/4 cup of honey.
optional add 1-2 tablespoonful of castor oil.
Use with love slightly warmer than body temperature as a retention enema.
Coffee Enema
This procedure helps detoxify the liver as well as the colon. The coffee in the
enema is absorbed through the wall of the colon and stimulates the flow of
bile from the liver and carries out the liver’s wastes.
Necessary Items:
2 quart enema bag
1-4 tablespoons of regular, non-instant coffee.
Preparation
1. Hang the enema bag no more than 18” above the floor. You do not want to
hang it any higher or the coffee will run in too fast.
2. Make sure the metal clamp on the hose is closed.
3. Fill the bag with one quart of the coffee solution - 100degrees temperature,
which is warm to the touch, works well for most people.
4. Attach and lubricate the hard plastic rectal fitting into the hose of the enema
bag.
5. Open the clamp and let the air come out of the tub before inserting.
Taking the Enema
1. Find a comfortable position among the following four:
a. Lie on your right or left side with your knees draw up to your chest.
b. Squat
c. Lie on your back with your legs at ninety degrees up on a chair.
d. Lie on your back with your knees drawn up to your chest.
2. Insert the colon tube into the rectum.
3. Open the clamp on the tubing and allow the coffee or herbal formula to enter.
When all the liquid is inside the colon, close the clamp and extract the tube
and lie on your right side for 5 minutes if possible. Gently massage the
abdomen with your hands. Then move onto your back for five minutes and
then on to your left side for 5 minutes. Do not be discouraged if you are
unable to retain the enema for the full amount of time.
Enemas are a main method of purification used in Ayurvedic medicine and are
highly esteemed for their healing effects. According to Ayurveda, they calm and

purify the nervous system and cleanse the colon. According to the ancient
Ayurvedic texts, enema removes the very root of the deranged humor called vata
and helps it to function optimally. Enema therefore purifies and improves the
regulation of the nervous system, stimulates the movement of the lymphatic
system, and the peristalsis of the intestines, and even the movement of thoughts
in the mind.
Niacin-Sauna Therapy
A special detoxification process has been developed to help in the release of
chemicals, pesticides, and pharmaceutical drugs. Used in some clinics, this
program includes several weeks of a high-fluid and juice diet, exercise, and a
high intake of niacin (vitamin B3) with sauna therapy. The extended saunas may
last several hours, with breaks to drink fluids. Niacin is a vasostimulator and
vasodilator, aiding circulation. The idea is to cleanse hidden chemicals from fat
through juice cleansing, weight loss, niacin therapy, exercise, and sweats.
The niacin-sauna program has therapeutic possibilities as an intense, medically
supervised detoxification process; however, it is still experimental and does
entail risks. Preliminary results are good-especially for people with symptoms
caused by exposure to pesticides such as Agent Orange-yet there are some
drawbacks. The program is costly and time-consuming. This extreme detox can
also cause nutrient deficiencies that can take months to replenish. Proper
nutrient restoration must be ensured, both during and after this therapy. This
program does help detoxification from many chemicals and drugs (especially the
recreational types) and from daily abuses of alcohol and nicotine.
Many of us can do a modified version of this therapy on our own with sauna, a
few days of juice cleansing, regular exercise, and supplemental niacin (beginning
at 100-200 mg and moving up to 2-3 grams daily). Be sure to replenish fluids and
minerals.

2 Days of a Purifying Raw-Food Program and a 3-Day Juice Fast
First complete the 2-week bowel detoxification and rebuilding program using Dr.
Schulze's Intestinal Corrective Formulae #1 and #2 and CONTINUE taking #1 & #2,
before you begin this program.
Then you may alternate this 5-day Liver Cleanse, or the 5-day Kidney Cleanse. Or you
may do both! The liver usually is detoxified before the kidneys, but you may reverse
this if desired.
Day 1: Upon arising drink 8 ounces of pure water with juice of 1/2 lemon.
Breakfast:
Morning Drink (Liver & Gallbladder Flush )
(Mix in a Blender) (in Spring and Summer ) 8 ounces of fresh orange juice or a citrus

Next, take 2 dropperfuls of Liver/Gallbladder - Anti-Parasite tonic 4 times daily
during this cleanse. Take in a few ounces of water. It should be quite bitter.
Day #1 Breakfast Super foods smoothie with live, FRESH fruit or vegetable juice. Living
Vitamins, Minerals and other Essential Nutrients. They are so important for cleansing and
detoxification. If you are hungry before lunch time you may have fruit, diluted fruit
juices, or another super food smoothie. Stop all fruit or fruit juices at least 1 hour before
lunch. It is best while on this program not to mix fruit and vegetables together.
Day #1 Lunch
For lunch you can have diluted fresh raw vegetable juices, raw vegetables alone or in
salads, sprouts, potassium broth, and herb teas. You may make dressings for the salad if
you like using Olive oil, Avocado, Raw Apple Cider Vinegar, Lemon Juice, Garlic,
Onions and any Herbs and Spices.
Afternoon Snacks: Raw vegetables, raw vegetable salads, diluted vegetable juices,

Consume at least 1 gallon (128 ounces) of liquid. That is 8 ounces every hour! If you get
hungry, DRINK MORE!!!
Potassium Broth Recipe (see pamphlet for additional recipes)
This is a great-tasting addition to your cleansing program. It will flush your system of
toxins, poisons and unwanted salts and acids while giving you a concentrated amount of
vitamins and minerals. Fill a large pot with 25% potato peelings, 25% carrot peelings and
whole chopped beets, 25% chopped on-ions including 50 cloves of garlic , 25% celery
and dark greens. Add hot peppers to taste. Add enough distilled water to cover vegetables
and simmer on very low temperature for 1-2 hours. Strain, or just dip your mug in, and
drink only the broth. Put the vegetables in your compost. Make enough for two days,
refrigerating the leftover broth. It is important to use Organic vegetables. We do not want
to consume any toxic insecticides, pesticides or inorganic chemical fertilizers while we
are on a cleansing and detoxification program.
Day #5: Today is the day to break your fast. Make this day the same as day #1.
Continuation of the fast with your morning drink and then you can have some fresh fruit.
Chew it very slowly and mix each mouthful with plenty of saliva. Remember, breaking
your fast is a very important part of this program. Chew your food well and eat until
satisfied, not full. You can always eat more later if you are still hungry. After 1:00 PM
you may have a small vegetable salad, and fruit again in the evening, chewing everything
to a liquid pulp. Remember, this program restricts the types of food you will be eating,

The essence of our natural vitality is given the name ojas or life power in Ayurveda. Life
power increases when we are happy and our lives are balanced and peaceful. Ojas or life power

decreases when we remain frustrated, angered, resentful, depressed, stressed out, nervous,
anxious or in any other way emotionally unstable or repressed. Our natural resistance forms at
the interface between the physical and the metaphysical. In Ayurveda ojas is understood to be
produced directly in three ways.
•First it develops naturally from positive thinking and positive emotions and
wholesome balanced living.
•Secondly our natural vitality or ojas increases when we live in rhythm,
breathing deeply and freely, sleeping soundly, laughing regularily…
•And thirdly ojas increases from the efficient and complete digestion and
metabolism of the foods we eat.
When one's ojas level is very high, the body has an enormous ability to recover from and resist
disease, and when the ojas level is low in the body, there is a lack of resistance to disease and the
bodily easily loses its equilibrium and becomes sick.
The following guidelines, laid down by the ancient teachers of Ayurveda like Charaka, Susruta,
and Vagbhata, tested by thousands of years and millions of human lives, describe the daily
routine to be followed by a healthy and wise person who desires to build their natural vitality and
maintain sound health. Daily observances which keep the bioforce (doshas) in balance are as

Wake up before sunrise.
Evacuate the bowels completely.
Wash eyes, mouth, teeth, face, and body, using neither very cold nor very hot
water. Scrape the tongue; using a curved instrument such a tongue scraper or a
spoon with no sharp edges, scrape off the chalky or mucus coating which
accumulated during the night.
Meditate or do regular spiritual practices. Include breathing practices to draw
within and expand the life energy.
Rub the body with oil (or msm lotion); rub the soles of the feet, forehead, and top
of the head. Oil drops can also be applied into the ears and nose; and

nothing to do with the actual pH of the food itself. For example, lemons
are very acidic, however the end-products they produce after digestion and

Vegetable juicing
Vegetable juicing is an important key to good health as it is an excellent source of
alkaline forming raw foods rich in natural minerals and vitamins.
Juicing is very beneficial, as many of us have relatively compromised intestines as a
result of less than optimal food choices over many years. This limits your body's ability
to absorb all the nutrients from the vegetables. Also, vegetable juicing allows you to eat
more of the vegetables than you would normally otherwise. By incorporating the juice
into your eating plan you will easily be able to reach the one pound of raw vegetables per
fifty pounds of body weight that you should eat every day.
What type of vegetables do I juice? I would recommend starting with the 3 vegetables
that are easiest to tolerate: Celery, Fennel (anise), Cucumbers. Unfortunately these are
not as beneficial as the more intense dark green vegetables. Once you get used to these
though you can start adding the better, but less palatable ones in. Green LEAFY

vegetables are probably the best to use in your vegetable juicing program. All green leafy
vegetables work well. The easiest ones to use include all the lettuces including, but not
restricted to: Red leaf, Green Leaf Romaine, Spinach.
You can then put in some of the other similar green leafy vegetables such as
Cabbage, Chinese Cabbage
Cabbage juice is one of the most healing nutrients for ulcer repair as it is a huge source of
vitamin U. Herbs also make wonderful combinations and there are two that work
exceptionally well: Parsley Cilantro
You can try using a few grapes in your vegetable juice. It's a good way to improve the
taste of your juice. Apple pectin is useful for stabilizing the blood sugar when you use
foods such as carrots or beets that have a higher glycemic index.
Vegetable juice has virtually no fat and no protein in it. That is why it would be helpful to
add some essential oils when you juice as well as some protein supplement to make the
meal more balanced.
Adding essential oils to your vegetable juice
There are four basic food supplements you could use:
Fish Oil (EPA/DHA) (source of omega 3 fatty acids) Flaxseed oil (source of omega 3 fatty acids,
not as beneficial for people over 50 their conversion to the beneficial fatty acids are not efficient)
Cod Liver Oil (has vitamin D and vitamin A in addition to the EPA/DHA of fish oil.) Evening
Primrose Oil (source of omega 6 fatty acids)
Detoxification SOUPS
Soups, clear broths and hot tonics are a very satisfying form of nutrition during a
cleansing fast. They are simple, easy, inexpensive, can be taken hot or cold, and provide a
means of "eating" and being with others at mealtime without going off a liquid detox
program. This is more important than it might appear, since solid food, taken after the
body has released all its solid waste, but before the cleanse is over, will drastically reduce
your diet's success. Broths are also alkalizing and help balance body pH. Hot tonics are
neither broths nor teas, but unique hot combinations of vegetables, fruits and spices with
purifying and energizing properties. The ingredients provide noticeable synergistic
activity when taken together - with more medicinal benefits than the single ingredients
alone. Take them morning and evening for best results.
MINERAL RICH CLEANSING BROTH For 6 cups of broth: Put in a large soup pot
with 11/2 qts. Water. Add 1 large Onion, chopped, 3 sliced Carrots, 2 Potatoes cubed, 1
cup Fresh Parsley, chopped, 2 Stalks Celery with tops. -Bring to boil; reduce heat;
simmer 30 minutes. Strain; add 1 TBS. Bragg Liquid Aminos.

PURIFYING DAIKON & SCALLION BROTH A clear cleansing drink with
bladder/kidney cleansing activity. For one bowl: Heat gently together for 5 minutes, 4
cups Vegetable Broth, one 6-inch piece Daikon Radish, peeled and cut in matchstick
pieces, and 2 Scallions, with tops. -Stir in 1 TBS. Tamari or 1 TBS. Bragg Liquid
Aminos, 1 TBS. Fresh Cilantro leaves and 1/2 teasp. Pepper.
SPRING CLEANING ENZYME SOUP For 8 cups soup: Simmer washed chopped
greens: 2 cups Fresh Nettle Tops, 1 cup Fresh Watercress Leaves, 1/2 cup Fresh
Dandelion Leaves, in pot with 2 cups Water. -Sauté 1 large minced Onion in 2 TBS.
Olive Oil. Add 2 Carrots diced, 2 Turnips diced, 3 TBS. Miso Paste and 6 cups Water.
Simmer 30 min. Add 1 cup Sunflower Sprouts.
POTASSIUM ESSENCE BROTH If you don't have a juicer, make a potassium broth in
a soup pot. While not as concentrated or pure, it is still an excellent source of energy,
minerals and electrolytes. For a 2 day supply: Cover with water in a soup pot 3 to 4
Carrots, 3 Stalks Celery, 1/2 Bunch Parsley, 2 Potatoes with skins, 1/2 Head Cabbage, 1

One of the most important biochemical changes regarding both aging and
many states of toxicity, is a change in membrane phospholipid composition;
the result being that we lose the active life giving highly fluid lipids and
replace them with rigid stiff inactive ones. That is how our “flow” and actually
life slows down. It actually occurs in the flow across our cell membranes and
results in loss of flow in all motions in and of the body and also potentially in
brain functioning. The loss of responsiveness of the active lipids is the strategic
negative factor.
Phosphatidylcholine is the predominate head group in the outer leaflet of the
membrane and is composed of two phospholipid groups opposing each other in
a normal bilipid membrane array. Phosphatidylcholine decreases with age
while sphingomyelin and cholesterol increases with age. (Barenholz, Schacter
1983). The importance of this shift in the outer membrane is difficult to
envision. It involves every cell of the body and every sensory neuron such as,
touch, smell, taste, sight, hearing, skin, blood cells, brain neurons,
endothelium, alveoli, immune cells, bone cells, etc. It involves the organelles
within the cell, such as the mitochondria the peroxisomes and the nuclear
membrane. The concept of aging and Phosphatidylcholine decline is a dramatic
shift in the bodies ability to self-regulate and heal itself (homeostatic ability).
Neurotoxic Membrane Syndrome: In addition to accelerated aging, chronically

You know you're getting old when you stoop to tie your shoes and
wonder what else you can do while you're down there.
Raising teenagers is like trying to nail Jell-O to a tree.
There's always a lot to be thankful for if you take time to look for
it. For example, I am sitting here thinking how nice it is that wrinkles
don't hurt.
Middle age is when you choose cereal for the fiber, not the toy.
The more you complain, the longer God lets you live.
If you can remain calm, you don't have all the facts.
Eat a live toad first thing in the morning, and nothing worse can
happen to you the rest of the day.
Therapeutic Benefits of Laughter
Dr. Lee Berk and fellow researcher Dr. Stanley Tan of Loma Linda University in
California have been studying the effects of laughter on the immune system. To date their
published studies have shown that laughing lowers blood pressure, reduces stress
hormones, increases muscle flexion, and boosts immune function by raising levels of
infection-fighting T-cells, disease-fighting proteins called Gamma-interferon and B-cells,
which produce disease-destroying antibodies. Laughter also triggers the release of
endorphins, the body's natural painkillers, and produces a general sense of well-being.
Following is a summary of his research, taken from an interview published in the
September/October 1996 issue of the Humor and Health Journal.
Laughter Activates the Immune System
In Berk's study, the physiological response produced by belly laughter was opposite of
what is seen in classical stress, supporting the conclusion that mirthful laughter is a
eustress state -- a state that produces healthy or positive emotions.
Research results indicate that, after exposure to humor, there is a general increase in
activity within the immune system, including:

An increase in the number and activity level of natural killer cells that attack viral
infected cells and some types of cancer and tumor cells.
An increase in activated T cells (T lymphocytes). There are many T cells that await
activation. Laughter appears to tell the immune system to "turn it up a notch."
An increase in the antibody IgA (immunoglobulin A), which fights upper respiratory
tract insults and infections.
An increase in gamma interferon, which tells various components of the immune
system to "turn on."
An increase in IgB, the immunoglobulin produced in the greatest quantity in body, as
well as an increase in Complement 3, which helps antibodies to pierce dysfunctional
or infected cells.
The increase in both substances was not only present while subjects watched a humor
video; there also was a lingering effect that continued to show increased levels the
next day.
Laughter Decreases "Stress" Hormones
The results of the study also supported research indicating a general decrease
in stress hormones that constrict blood vessels and suppress immune activity.
These were shown to decrease in the study group exposed to humor.
For example, levels of epinephrine were lower in the group both in anticipation
of humor and after exposure to humor. Epinephrine levels remained down
throughout the experiment.
