Our mission, as always, is to bring you five fun-filled days with lots of free events and entertainment for all the family. Every year we endeavour to improve our festival and enhance its growing reputation as one of the best family events of its kind in the country. Our spectacular Grand Opening Parade will showcase some of our amazing new inflatables that will grab your attention, capture your imagination. For the music lovers amongst you, we are delighted to bring you two of Ireland’s top entertainers – Jimmy Buckley and back, by popular demand, Michael English. Our research has shown us that no Rose festival would be considered complete without our old favourites the Live Pig Racing, Fireworks Display, Bubble Soccer and Heritage Walk. On Sunday our Family Fun day will feature our 10k run, 5k run/walk, in aid of the Zoe Cryan Fund. Sunday night will see the culmination of our festival with the selection and crowning of the 2016 Rose of Castlerea at a gala event in the Trinity Arts Centre. Along with our hard working committee there are a large number of people without whom this festival would not happen – Roscommon County Council, An Garda Síochána and local businesses. Also to the people who will help to keep us safe and healthy throughout the five days. Our own stewards and volunteers, An Garda Síochána, Roscommon Civil Defence, Castlerea Fire Brigade and Dr. Greg Kelly – to them we offer our sincere thanks. To the gallant band of troops who give their time freely and willingly travelling to parades all over the country in all weathers to assemble and display our inflatables to help fund this festival. To John Sharkey, Gerry Sharkey, Peter Dolan, and the members of the Castlerea Agricultural Show that help us with the carwash and other events. To the outgoing Rose of Castlerea, Michelle Cooke, who has been an exemplary ambassador and role model throughout her 12 month reign. To you all we are thankful beyond words; you have our respect and our gratitude. To all our sponsors whose loyalty and continued support has kept our show on the road. We can only hope that their support will be reciprocated by those who attend our festival. Remember, every local job created or maintained supports approximately four more jobs. So let’s keep our business local. Finally, and most importantly, I hope you all enjoy our Festival and get in as many events as possible and remember if you enjoy it tell a friend.
