The aim of this master class, a new and innovative format, is to bring together leading experts from
science and industry and interested academics, scientists, R&D managers, CEOs and innovation
facilitators to share the latest results of research and create tangible results on the hottest topics in
the field of innovation management through workshops and group discussions. Using a format
common in classical music or performing arts, attendees will increase their expertise and knowledge
by learning from and discussing with other experts.
This master class focuses on the topic of “innovation and sustainability”. You will learn to use
foresight results and ready-to-use tools for the creation of new and more sustainable products, and
for services and solutions that address the most important problems of the next decade.
This master class is supported by ISPIM – International Society for Professional Innovation
Management, a network of researchers, industrialists, consultants and public bodies who share an
interest in innovation management. Founded in 1983 by Professor Knut Holt in Norway, ISPIM is the
oldest, largest and most active innovation association in Europe. ISPIM produces scientific and
educational material and events to help people understand and share thinking and experiences on
how individuals, organisations and society can be better organised to create and distribute new
products, services and processes to make the world a better place.
The ISPIM membership body reflects ISPIM’s diversity. Members are predominantly European, but
there is growing representation from Asia-Pacific and North America. Members are researchers,
practitioners, independent and well-known consultants, regional and national policy-makers as well
as science parks, innovation agencies and the like. Profiles range from CEOs and VPs to midexecutives, from full professors to PhD researchers, and from independent researchers and
consultants to global companies. ISPIM runs several international events per year including the
annual flagship Conference, held in Europe in June, and the Innovation Symposium, held outside
Europe in December.

Michael is one of Austria’s leading innovation consultants. He is CEO of ratio strategy & innovation
consulting gmbh, one of Europe’s eldest consulting firms, board member of the Austrian Center of
Competency for TRIZ and member of the ISPIM Advisory Board, …. He works with TRIZ for more than
20 years in new product development and product enhancement, teaches creativity techniques and
TRIZ at various universities, published numerous scientific and practioner articels on related topics
and is a renown and seeked speacher all over Europe.
Philip Pacanda, B.Sc., MA, Graz - Austria
Philip developed the unique combination of TRIZ and sustainability in product design. He provides a
ready-to-use tool box to create more sustainable products which covers all three pillars of
sustainability: the ecologic, the economic and the social pillar.

How to create sustainable new products. TRIZ ans sustainability
TRIZ (acronym from Russian) is the theory of inventive problem solving, a well know creativity
technique to overcome technical contradictions. For the first time the TRIZ toolbox has been revised
and augmented, introducing sustainability factors. You will learn to use the TRIZ_sust toolbox
working on real showcases.
