The New Year´s Gala has been a musical highlight in the region for years. In 2015 it is taking place in the big church of Schönenberg-Kübelberg for the 9th time. Musical, operetta, pop and classical songs will take turns. In addition to professional soloists also the young singers of the choir will come to the fore. The acoustics of the church adds to the festive concert. FEB 16 Shrove Monday Procession Schönenberg-Kübelberg 1:00 PM At 1:11 p.m. the parade featuring colorfully decorated floats and various crazily costumed walking groups leads through the community. Afterwards, the carnival revelers will celebrate at the village square in Kübelberg until dark. FEB 17 Ramstein Carnival Parade Ramstein city center 2:00 PM The big Westrich Mardi Gras Parade is the highlight of the annual carnival season in the region. Thousands of visitors line the streets when the colorful floats, dance groups in their costumes and marching bands including the USAFE Band parade through the center of Ramstein. 7:30 PM MAR 13 FLAIRCK - World Music Concert Landstuhl, Stadthalle, Kaiserstrasse 39 7:30 PM Sylvia Houtzager, Peter Weekers and Erik Visser were very successful with their band Flairck during the 80’s and for many years they travelled through the whole world with their unique instrumental music. Wherever they presented their show, the audience begged them to come back. The music of Flairck has turned out to be timeless. MAR 21 German-American Castle Run Landstuhl, start: Sickingensporthalle, Kaiserstrasse 128 3:00 PM This annual German-American friendship run is hosted by the Landstuhl running club LLG. From the city center the 4.4 miles (7 km) trail is leading uphill finishing at Landstuhl‘s landmark, Nanstein Castle. Online enrollment: www.llg-landstuhl.de MARCH/APRIL Daffodil Blossom at Ohmbach Lake Schönenberg-Kübelberg, Ohmbach Lake FEB 25 The 12 Tenors - Concert Ramstein, Haus des Bürgers, Am Neuen Markt 4 8:00 PM “The 12 Tenors“ have an excellent reputation in China, Japan and Germany. Their program ranges from classical arias such as “Nessun Dorma“ through to pop hymns such as “Music“ and songs like “You can leave your hat on“ by Joe Cocker. “The 12 Tenors“ are not only opera singers. They are sensational dancers, charming presenters as well as good-looking men. Their music program with unmistakably classical but also modern sound is a great combination for the young and the old. ĺĺĺ MAR 1 About 120,000 daffodils bloom around the lake at that time of the year and turn the shores at the Ohmbach Lake into a sea of blossoms. The trail around the lake is unhampered by barriers and recommended for strollers and wheelchairs. APR 3 The Spirit of Ireland - Show Ramstein, Haus des Bürgers, Am Neuen Markt 4 ĺĺĺ 8:00 PM The unforgettable Irish dance sensation: terrific, dynamic and sexy! It is a fabulous mixture of a dance show and originally Celtic music. The live show combines the best Irish tap dancers, outstanding musicians and first-class vocalists. Colorful costumes and an exceptional light show create a special experience. “The spirit of Ireland“ fascinates the young and the old. Guided Hiking Tour Bruchmühlbach-Miesau/ Vogelbach, Dorfgemeinschaftshaus, Wagnerstrasse 21 1:30 PM Each year on Good Friday the Pfälzerwaldverein Vogelbach hosts a guided hiking tour around the village. After the hike you will have the oppertunity to try a regional specialty: fresh bread with “Kässchmeer“, a spread made out of quark and cream served with onions and herbs. APR 12 Donnersberg Wine Forum ĺĺĺ 67591 Mölsheim, Alte Brennerei, Kirchgasse 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM Under the motto “one mountain - three wine regions“ 14 vintners from the Nahe region, the Palatinate and Rhine Hesse will present a delicate selection of their best wines. The team of the restaurant “Alte Brennerei“ will cater for the visitors. APR 18 Running Event around Ohmbach Lake Brücken 6:30 PM | 7:00 PM The international running event with distances of 1.5 km, 5 km and 10 km is recommended for the whole family and leads through a beautiful landscape around Ohmbach Lake. APR 18 - APR 19 Westrich Trade Fair Ramstein, Am Neuen Markt all day This event gives an impression of what the region has to offer: Numerous trades, crafts and service providers present their goods and services. MAY 2 - MAY 3 Roadrunner Friendship Walk - Volksmarching Miesenbach, Mehrzweckhalle, Am Kiefernkopf 12 APR 26 The Ramstein Roadrunners Volkssport Club hosts their annual spring walk with a choice of 5 km, 10 km, 15 km and 20 km trails. Outdoor Sports Opening Trippstadt-Johanniskreuz, House of Sustainability 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM The official opening of the outdoor season: you will have the possibility to explore nature and outdoor sports in the Palatinate Forest such as rock climbing, Nordic walking, bicycle racing, paragliding and much more. MAY 2 - MAY 3 Oliandi-Olive Oil Festival 67308 Zellertal-Zell, Zeller Hauptstrasse 2 In the evening of May 7 fanfares, cannons and torch bearers in medieval garb commemorate Nanstein Castle‘s most famous lord, Franz von Sickingen - “the Last Knight“ who died at Nanstein Castle 500 years ago. The commemoration festivities will continue Friday and Saturday with a medieval camp and market at the castle. On Sunday the Landstuhl fanfare corps “Sickinger Herolde“ celebrate their 80th anniversary. 7:00 PM Dance party with live musical entertainment traditionally held on April 30 to welcome May. MAY 7 - MAY 10 APR 30 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM Cherry Blossom at Kohlbach Valley Dittweiler - Frohnhofen 30,000 cherry trees bloom on the hillsides between Dittweiler and Frohnhofen. It is the best time for a hike on the Kirschenland (cherry country) hiking trail, one of three trails of the “Begehbares Geschichtsbuch“ (accessible history book). MAY 9 Spring Ball Ramstein, Haus des Bürgers, Am Neuen Markt 4 8:00 PM The traditional spring ball of the Ramstein competitive dance club is an opportunity for everyone to take to the floor. Diverse entertainment including exhibition dancing promises a colorful and exciting evening. MAY 9 MAY 22 - MAY 25 750th Anniversary of Kindsbach Donnersberg Hiking Marathon 67808 Steinbach, Bürgerhaus, Donnersbergstrasse 8:00 AM The right event for ramblers and sports enthusiasts: The 5th Donnersberg hiking marathon will lead through the charming scenery of the Donnersberg county, changing from fantastic views to enchanted forests, broad valleys, green meadows and of course the impressive Donnersberg mountain. Besides the marathon tour where participants have to master a distance of approx. 43 km and an altitude difference of 1.700 m, a tour of 30 km and a half marathon will be offered as well. It brings back memories and the spirit of life of the cult decade for one evening. Travel back into a time when headbands were a must-have, huge shoulder pads were normal, magic cubes made millions of people puzzle, and aerobic was the way to keep your body in shape. MAY 14 The celebrations of the 750th anniversary of Kindsbach start on Friday with a big party featuring the popular band “Habachtaler“, the opening band is “Uhrwerk“. On Saturday and Sunday there will be a varied program in the festival tent at the Grandcamp-Maisy-Platz. A festival parade will be taking place on Sunday as well. On Monday there will be a church service in the tent, followed by more music, food and drinks. MAY 23 French Night Trippstadt, Schlosspark in the evening Tarte flambée, French red wine and other delights will be offered in the picturesque garden of the baroque castle underlined by musical entertainment. MAY 23 - MAY 25 Annual Horse Show Bruchmühlbach-Miesau, Miesau riding club facilities (next to the outdoor pool) Dressage and jumping competitions; torch-illuminated jumping on Sunday. Forest Festival Fritz-Claus-Hütte next to road L 466 between Bruchmühlbach and Martinshöhe MAY 23 - MAY 25 Medieval Market The hiking club Pfälzerwaldverein Martinshöhe celebrates a festival in the forest at the wooden hut Fritz-Claus-Hütte. MAY 15 Kindsbach, Grandcamp-Maisy-Platz Schönenberg-Kübelberg, at Ohmbach Lake Come by and experience the Middle Ages the time of knights, jugglers and firebreathers. The medieval camp will be set up around the scenic Ohmbach Lake. Further information: www.winnweiler.de MAY 24 Moscheltal Adventure Tour MAY 15 - MAY 17 Mountain Bike Festival Palatinate Forest 67808 Schönborn, town center Schopp - Mountain Bike Park Palatinate Forest Interesting facts about bee-keeping, sheep breeding, trees and shrubs and vegetables will be presented. Artists and craftsmen will show their works under the motto “craftsmanship then and now“. Join-in activities, sales booths and a broad offer of food and drinks will be avaiable as well. The Mountain Bike Park Palatinate Forest offers more than 300 kilometeres of trails, including a large number of singletrails. Throughout the festival weekend mountainbikers can enjoy three days of biking fun combined with an entertainment program and various special activities. Saturday, May 16 an international mountain bike cross country race will take place in Schopp. MAY 17 Biking fun in Sickingen County Landstuhl - Waldfischbach-Burgalben all day Bike along the road from Landstuhl to Waldfischbach-Burgalben. Food and drinks as well as musical entertainment will be offered along the trail. MAY 24 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM Skate & Music Enkenbach-Alsenborn in the evening The road between Enkenbach and Alsenborn will belong to inline and roller skaters. Music, food and beverages will be provided together with plenty of skating fun. MAY 24 - MAY 25 Festival at Eulenkopf Tower JUN 13 - JUN 15 Spring fair Eulenbis, Eulenkopfstrasse Otterberg The Eulenkopf Tower built in 1914 is the landmark of the village of Eulenbis near Weilerbach. The viewing tower is not only a place to enjoy a spectacular outlook; it also houses the highest registry office for wedding ceremonies in the Palatinate. The traditional festival offers food and drinks as well as musical entertainment. On Saturday you are invited to an enjoyable evening in Otterberg with popular music. A colorful parade will take place on Sunday. After the parade everyone will stroll to the fairground in the woods. Another tradition is the climbing tree (a log with packages attached at the top): The youngster who is the first to reach the top of the log will receive a present. Enjoy the variety of handmade local products and food specialities, offered in sales-booths and surrounded by wonderful music. German-French Farmers` Market 67808 Weitersweiler, Bolander Strasse 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM For years the town Weitersweiler is twinned with Weiterswiller in the French Alsace. Local farmers from the Donnersberg county and the Alsace will offer their products. Besides the sales booths there will be arts and crafts presentations, an entertainment program for children and information kiosks. JUN 19 - JUN 21 Seewoog Festival MAY 29 - MAY 30 Wine Fest Miesenbach, Waldstrasse Brücken Music, fun and entertainment for the young and old around the “Seewoog“ lake. In the western part of the Palatinate a wine fest is unusual but in Brücken it is meanwhile a tradition. Taste good wines from different regions. You also have the possibility to visit the Diamond Cutter Museum of Brücken. MAY 30 800th Anniversary Celebration of Ramstein Ramstein, Haus des Bürgers, Am Neuen Markt 4 in the evening JUN 20 - JUN 21 Model Boat Show Schönenberg-Kübelberg, at Ohmbach Lake Sat 12:00 AM - 6:00 PM | Sun 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM in the evening Models of sailboats, speedboats, cargo ships, yachts, passenger steamers and even submarines will be presented by the construction club for model ships in a fantastic scenery at Ohmbach Lake. In 1215 Ramstein was first mentioned in a document. To celebrate this 800th anniversary of the city a festival night with music and entertainemt will take place at the Ramstein community center Haus des Bürgers. Sunday shopping. ĺĺĺ JUN 5 - JUN 7 June 2015 ĺĺĺ Beer Festival 67292 Kirchheimbolanden, Herrengarten, Hitzfeldstrasse starting Fri 7:00 PM | Sat 5:00 PM | Sun 11:00 AM More than 50 kinds of beer can be sampled on the fairground Herrengarten. Bakers, butchers and caterers will be offering food and drinks. Furthermore, a varied entertainment program will be provided on all three days. JUN 20 - JUN 22 Johannis Market 67722 Winnweiler, reduced-traffic area: Schlossstrasse/ Schlossplatz/ Am Marktplatz Sat 6:30 PM | Sun 2:00 PM The Johannis Market starts with the tapping of the beer keg on Saturday evening. Musical entertainment guarantees party mood until late night. On Sunday different bands will perform in the pedestrian area. JUN 26 - JUN 28 Rheinland-Pfalz-Tag (State Fair) Ramstein City Center all day JUL 10 - JUL 11 Ramstein CITY Rock Ramstein, Am Neuen Markt 7:00 PM This weekend it’s party time in downtown Ramstein: The CITY ROCK festival organized by the “Haus des Bürgers” will again present a wide range of live music on stage. JUL 11 - JUL 12 800th Anniversary Celebration of Spesbach Spesbach, Mehrzweckhalle, Jahnstrasse 2 The “Rheinland-Pfalz-Tag” is the State Fair of the German State Rheinland-Pfalz. Each year this great event takes place in another city within the state. In 2015 Ramstein-Miesenbach is proud to host the fair. A fantastic festival weekend is guaranteed by the large offer of musical entertainment and performances that will be featured on eight stages throughout the city center. The center of Ramstein will be blocked for traffic and the streets and squares will be filled with booths and stands providing information about the different regions within the state of Rheinland-Pfalz. A varied offer of food and drinks will be available as well. One of the highlights of this big event is the festival parade taking place on Sunday, June 28. The village of Spesbach celebrates its 800th anniversary with a festival night at the community center Mehrzweckhalle on Saturday evening. The festivities will continue with a village festival on Sunday including music, fun and entertainment for all age groups. JUL 12 Log Drifting festival Frankenstein/ Waldleiningen, Biedenbach Lake JUL 17 - JUL 19 Lake Festival Schönenberg-Kübelberg, at Ohmbach Lake The romantic Ohmbach Lake Festival is a special event. Three stages featuring great musical entertainment will be set up around the lake. International dishes and beverages will be offered by 50 booths. “Lake in Flames“ is on Saturday. On Sunday there is a varied children´s program and a fireworks display will end the festival. www.seefest.de JUN 27 - JUN 28 Enchanting Zellertal Arts and Wine Market 67308 Zellertal-Harxheim, Kirchplatz and village center starting Sat 6:30 PM | Sun 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM The quaint festival with the focus on the wine from the Zellertal region, arts and crafts. Artists and craftsmen will present their skills in the yards and in the picturesque center of Harxheim. Delicious local specialties, roast venison, homemade cakes, coffee and soft drinks. Various music groups will present an entertaining and diverse program. JUL 25 - JUL 26 Schnapsbrennerfest - Fair ĺĺĺ Mittelbrunn August 2015 ĺĺĺ Traditional village fair with the offer of home-destilled German Schnaps. AUG 2 JUL 26 Kaiserslautern-Lauterecken Outdoor Game Event The Bruchmühlbach-Miesau union community and the local clubs host a game event at the Miesau outdoor pool. Families and small groups compete in funny games and activities. Afterwards there will be an awards ceremony for the winners. For participation please register at [email protected] AUG 8 - AUG 9 Ramstein Summer Nights Ramstein, Am Neuen Markt 7:00 PM From July 31 until September 4 the “Ramstein Summer Nights” take place on an open-air stage in front of the Ramstein city hall each Friday evening: Each theme night will have the focus on a different country with traditional music, food and drinks from that country. You can choose between signposted trails of different length. AUG 8 - AUG 10 Residenzfest (Wine Festival) 67292 Kirchheimbolanden, old town starting Sat 5:00 PM | Sun/Mon 11:30 AM The town of Kirchheimbolanden also called “Kleine Residenz“ hosts a big wine festival. Local restaurants and wine taverns will be offering culinary delicacies throughout the old part of town. You can sample wines from the Zellertal and the Nahe region. Enjoy the varied entertaining program including a cultural night on Friday, a children´s run on Saturday and an organ concert as well as a “glow worm parade“. Sunday starts with a morning matinee in the Schlossgarten, afterwards vendors will be providing a large offer of goods and the fairground will feature many booths and fun rides for adults and children. A closing fireworks takes place on Monday. in the evening The picturesque garden of the Trippstadt baroque castle will be the venue of this open air event. The festival features live musical entertainment, culinary specialties, a wine village and a children´s program. Spectacular light shows, torches and camp fires will illuminate the “Schlosspark“ and a fireworks display will take place as well.
