Bento is our pet dog and my “son”.
Roy developed Rheumatoid Arthritis one year after we were married. He has had it for over 30 years. I saw a documentary that
HMSA use to have on Sunday afternoons, back then, on Rheumatoid Arthritis. It is very painful and crippling and only gets progressively worse with age. Rheumatoid Arthritis patients have the highest rate of suicides…unable to take the pain tolerance. The
program showed new born babies with rheumatoid arthritis and they were all crying and the cries were chilling…different from a
normal cry. We decided at this point, not to have any children as it seems that it runs in his family.
Bento is with us every minute of the day and is our “baby”. When brides ask me if I have any children, I tell them that I have
“Bento” and you. All my brides are like my daughters. I enjoy them so much…if they only knew how much.

Loving sentimental moment: I had a wedding I shot in Seattle, where the groom and bride
had been love at first sight. So getting married and hearing their vows, was amazing. I even
teared up and even as I relive it typing this, I choke up. They are so stunning together, they have
a truly epic love.
What kind of FB member are you? I'm actively aggressive. I am always on it, keeping up with
vendors, clients and friends!
I began my business because: I was originally in the military (In the navy for six years!) and
finally realized it was time to move on. If you know me, you know I don't do well with
"authority" so I knew I couldn't have a boss anymore. My love of photography had been quickly
progressing, so I decided to jump in and start my own company!
I get inspired when: I see beautiful sunlight. Seriously, when the sun is setting, anything and
everything is magical.
Greatest desire: I want to go to Thailand and ride an elephant. I have an obsession with
elephants and I just KNOW that when I finally shake the truck of one...I will cry.
Weakness: Food. I have driven six hours for a Nathans Hotdog once, because I had never tried it!
Favorite charities: In the past, I have supported the Oahu SPCA and also the Lymphoma and
Leukemia Society. I also have been a long standing contributor of RAINN.

Favorite time period: The 1930's. There were the beautiful ladies in movies, the suave criminals who robbed banks by
day and loved their women by night. The Chicago Worlds Fair happened and oh the things people saw! You could rent
Kodak film cameras back then (or pay the obscene cost of $10 to bring your own!). You saw the first zipper introduce,
the first ferris wheel, cracker jacks, electricity all over the place...it was stunning! Back then, the world was growing so
quickly and people were less jaded.

We photographed a 50th wedding anniversary/vow renewals and during the
formal family portrait's the groom kept repeating the countdown after Joyce
said it...."readyyyy....1...2...3". Every. Single. Time...lol
Seeing the groom get emotional.
Active definitely. Enough to keep up with everyone's current events and to
post our own as well but not going overboard by sharing more than is needed
for public view.
Destin initially wanted a career change. After our wedding and
attending a bunch of friends' weddings he saw what he could potentially
be doing instead; wedding photography. When Joyce jumped on board we
decided that there was a market for a budget friendly photography company
considering the economic struggles at the time. Our love for photography to
capture the love of others sprouted Reel Love Photography!
We see anything that relates to weddings. When we see amazing images
taken by other talented photographers. When we see the bright eyes and
huge smiles of children. When we see the sincerity of a couple so deep in love.
When we see light, colors, flowers, architecture or FOOD!
To commit to the business full time and create/run a home studio.
Amount of years in business. Naturally this will come with time but we have
the skills necessary to perform, the drive to succeed and a product that is
marketable.
We like to give back in the form of providing services or our time both
professionally and personally. We volunteered at the Special Olympics,
contributed towards the American Diabetes Association and donated our
services by photographing a farewell concert for the Fab 4.

2011 was our first full year with 5 total weddings. In the future, we're targeting
a maximum of 12 in a year. Last year we did 5 and 7 overall.
