DEVELOPING LEADERS PROGRAM 2013 Philanthropy Project to Benefit Alternative House SNACK PACK PROJECT The Developing Leaders Committee chose Alternative House to support as part of their community outreach. Alternative House is a local organization that provides counseling, shelter and neighborhood-based support services for children, youth and families. For the second year, the DLs planned a donation of Snack Packs - small baggies of food that the Alternative House provides to children who participate in some of their programs. DL volunteers set a goal of donating 1600 Snack Packs. On October 3, they met their goal and delivered 1600 Packs, plus surplus food to the shelter. More than 30 chapter DLs and potential DLs volunteered to help with the project. Megan Lantz of HITT Contracting Inc. led the project. Scott Longendyke of Washington Real Estate Investment Trust led the shopping team. Jeremiah Kamerer of Gordon coordinated the packing teams. Lauren Grunley of Grunley Construction Company Inc. coordinated the delivery team. SHOPPING FOR SUPPLIES The shopping team loaded the Snack Pack supplies – over 17,000 pieces – and delivered them for assembling.
