CHICAGO SOCIETY, LODGE 1450
POLISH NATIONAL ALLIANCE
Founded in 1912, the Chicago Society is a progressive social
organization of Polish American professional, business, and
civic leaders. Founded to foster the ideals of good fellowship,
promote the welfare of the community, and advance the civic,
social, economic, and cultural development of the community,
the Chicago Society promotes not only the success of its individual members in business and civic life, but provides assistance and leadership to many other important organizations
and charitable causes.
CHICAGO SOCIETY FOUNDATION
The Chicago Society incorporated a separate Foundation in
1999 to maximize the impact of its charitable work. Thus, the
Chicago Society Foundation was born to provide philanthropic
and charitable assistance exclusively to individuals and organizations dedicated to the Polish American community.

Dear Friends, Supporters, Volunteers, and Guests
The Polish American Association has provided pivotal life altering
social services to thousands of Chicago’s Polish emigres for more
than 90 years. Today, the staff and board are energized, motivated,
and determined to institute new programming that is shaped by the
cultural and demographics shifts occurring not only in Chicago, but
across the globe. Our track record in delivering bi-lingual services to
limited-English-speaking Poles and our aspirations to creatively address emerging issues make us unique among human service organizations.
As the new Executive Director, my commitment is to drive the transformation of the PAA into a 21st century model of service, operating
in an interdependent, multi-national society within a global economy.
In this new century, where service is without traditional borders, the
expectations and goals of immigrants moving across national frontiers
have changed dramatically. So too must we, as we facilitate change
and guide our life travelers.
In the current climate, is it clearer than ever before that non-profit
organizations like ours must become more financially self-sufficient. It
is about implementing innovative models that create value while generating new resources to protect the interests of the most vulnerable.
We must simultaneously accelerate the advancement of those individuals and families most able to move effectively into the educational
and workforce mainstreams, but remain vigilant to provide services to
those require life-sustaining assistance.
To accomplish all this, the PAA is modernizing and reconstructing its
infrastructure, nurturing a membership community, investing in sustainability and growth, building national and international partnerships,
and recommitting to ensuring optimal outcomes for Polish emigres
and their children.
Please join the PAA on this journey. Together we comprise a community of strength, of accomplishment, of empathy, and of long lasting
impact. In the eyes of our children, we see our future and it is more
relevant than ever before.
I look forward to working shoulder to shoulder with each of you, on
behalf of our community and its future.
Eva Prokop
Executive Director
Polish American Association

ABOUT THE POLISH AMERICAN ASSOCIATION
A trusted institution for 93 years, the Polish American
Association (PAA) has been at the forefront of helping
Polish emigres transition to a new life in the U.S. by
providing services and support in their native tongue and
with cultural sensitivity.
Since the first major wave of Polish immigrants arrived
in Chicago, the PAA has actively served generation after
generation of newcomers and their children. As long as
cultural alienation and limited-language skills remain
barriers to social integration, accessing physical and
mental health services, and economic success, the PAA
will remain a strong, active and relevant organization
committed to championing and guiding Polish emigres.
Over the decades, programs have changed as needs have
changed, but fundamentally the PAA’s purpose is resolute;
to provide our community the resources and support necessary to prepare them for social integration, economic independence and full citizenship. Among those services are:
• accessing benefits
• mental health, and substance and domestic abuse counseling
• educational training
• basic workforce development
• immigration and citizenship services
Although its history is a proud one, the PAA is a dynamic
agency, evolving and adapting its services and priorities in
response to shifting social, demographic, economic, and
political circumstances. The agency is currently deeply
immersed in another transformative period; retooling and
broadening its programs to ensure 21st century solutions
and opportunities for 21st century challenges.
The emergent direction of the agency is in placing a significantly greater emphasis on:
• Youth enrichment programs
• Higher education opportunities for young adults
• Creating new pathways to emerging employment in the business and technology sectors
• Supporting entrepreneurs to drive overall economic health in and for our community.
Strategies to achieve these goals include working with new
partners to craft innovative solutions to complex problems.
State-of-the-art programs with local, national and international affiliates will fully realize the talent, vibrancy, and
potential of Chicago’s Polish community today, and for
decades to come.
This year, we launch our new membership initiative, which
is intended to open access for all individuals in our community. Regardless of the stage of your socio-economic
development, your education, or the obstacles you may face,
membership in the PAA will provide support and allow each
individual to realize his or her fullest potential.
As an organization, the PAA welcomes you into our family,
because as a community, we are stronger.

Polish American Association
3834 N. Cicero Avenue
Chicago, IL 60641
Dear Friends,
As Attorney General of the State of Illinois, I want to congratulate the members, supporters and
staff of the Polish American Association as the PAA celebrates its 93rd anniversary of providing
vital services to the area’s Polish community.
Our community is a better place thanks to the hard work and commitment of the Polish
American Association. The PAA helps thousands of people each year to attain necessary skills,
find jobs and become citizens. From providing English language classes to crisis counseling, the
staff of the PAA on a daily basis help members of Chicago’s large Polish community to better
their lives and thus better our community.
I also want to congratulate this year’s honorees of the PAA’s Annual Gala – Chicago Society,
Lodge 1450 Polish National Alliance, the Chicago Society Foundation and Star-Tech Glass, Inc.
Each of these organizations have made important contributions to Chicago’s Polish community.
I hope that everyone gathered tonight for PAA’s Annual Gala will enjoy the evening and
amazing fellowship.
Very truly yours,
Lisa Madigan

How to Support
the Polish American Association
The Polish American Association could not make a difference in the lives of more than 3,000 people each month
without the time, talent and financial resources contributed to us by people like you. If you want to make a difference and help the PAA continue to provide resources for
changing lives, here are a few ways you can help:
Cash Gift - Your donation in any amount is welcome.
Employee Matching Plan - If your employer matches charitable contributions, you will increase the impact of your
gifts simply by filling out your employer’s matching form.
Bequest or Life Insurance - The Polish American Association may be designated as the beneficiary of a portion of
your estate or your life insurance policy.
Stocks, Bonds, or Real Property - A gift of appreciated
property may allow a full charitable deduction while avoiding capital gains taxes.
Tribute or Memorial - Honor or memorialize a friend or
loved one. Make a gift in his or her name and we will notify
the honoree or family members with a certificate admiring
your thoughtfulness.
Sponsor or attend one of our upcoming special events.
The Polish American Association is a 501(c)(3) non-profit
organization, and gifts are tax-deductible to the full extent
allowed by law.
