THE SOLID DELIVERY Newspaper Caroling At Millennium Park Celebrate the holidays in Millennium Park, when Caroling at Cloud Gate returns for its sixth season on Friday evenings from Nov. 25th through Dec. 16th at 6 p.m. This free program, presented by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, in partnership with the Chicago Office of Tourism and Culture, showcases local choral groups and invites visitors to participate in a 50-minute holiday singalong. The caroling will be lead by the Chicago Chamber Choir on Nov. 25th, Apollo Chorus of Chicago on Dec. 2nd, Windy City Gay Chorus and Aria on Dec. 9th and the Wicker Park Choral Singers on Dec. 16th. State st. on Saturday, Nov. 19th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. throughout the building, including the Thomas Hughes Children’s Library, Winter Garden, Cindy Pritzker Auditorium, Lower Level Multipurpose Rooms and Main Lobby. Children ages 3 to 10 and their families will have the opportunity to meet book authors, illustrators and costumed storybook characters; enjoy puppetry, theater, dance, magic and music performances; and participate in book related crafts. Children’s books will be available for purchase. This year’s event will feature noted children’s book authors and illustrators Eileen Christelow, Five Little Monkeys Reading in Bed; and Nina Crews, The Neighborhood Sing-Along. Also featured are authors Robert Burleigh, The Adventures of Mark Twain by Huckleberry Finn; and Arthur Dorros, Mama and Me. Readalouds will take place in the “Big Red Chair.” Children will have the opportunity to have their pictures taken with life-sized, costumed storybook characters like Clifford the Big Red Dog, Froggy, Maisy, Mother Goose, Tacky the Penguin, Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy, the Library Owl, Arthur and D.W. Veterans Day At Brookfield Zoo The Chicago Zoological Society invites the public to a special Veterans Day ceremony at Brookfield Zoo on Friday, Nov. 11th at 1 p.m. Free general zoo admission will be offered that day to all guests (parking and special exhibit fees will still apply). The ceremony, which will take place just south of Roosevelt Fountain, will begin with a presentation by the Color Guard from Rickover Naval Academy, followed by the National Anthem performed by The Arlingtones as well as the placing of a memorial wreath at the fountain. Gleen Granat, a curator for the Chicago Zoological Society as well as a U.S. Army veteran, will give talk entitled, “A Retrospective of the U.S. Military - The Revolution Through Present.” A red-tailed hawk will make an appearance for a special Zoo Chat at the conclusion of the ceremony. Book Discussion On Chicago River Jeanne Gang, visionary architect, 2011 MacArthur Fellow and leader of Studio Gang Architects will be joined by Henry Henderson, Midwest Program Director of The Natural Resources Defense Council to discuss and sign the new book, “Reverse Effect: Renewing Chicago’s Waterways” at the Harold Washington Library Center, 400 S.
