SELF- REFLECTION FOR CONFLICT
PROFESSIONALS
The Center for Understanding in Conflict will be offering a two-day intensive program in
Talloires, France, September 4th & 5th, in Self-Reflection and it’s relevance to working as
a professional to help people in conflict.
!
The focus of the program will be to train participants
in ways of accessing their inner lives while working
with clients in conflict that are constructive for the
professionals and productive for their clients. We will
learn together about connecting with our deeper
impulses that fuel our commitment to working with
people in conflict – such as compassion and the search
for greater self understanding and mutual
understanding. We will also learn about dealing with
the barriers to that understanding, such as judgment,
anger and the desire for control, and how to recognize
and work with those barriers to bring us closer to our
clients and ourselves.
The program will be a combination of self-reflection
exercises, role-plays and didactic explanation, using the
soon to be published book “INSIDE -OUT: WORKING
THROUGH CONFLICT” by Gary Friedman (American
Bar Association in cooperation with Harvard’s Program
on Negotiation). All conflict professionals are welcome
to attend, including mediators, lawyers, therapists and
anyone who works with people in conflict.
PLACE: Prieuré de Talloires, on the Lake of Annecy (Tufts University European Center), 45 minutes from
Geneva.
Fees: CHF 780. This includes 15 hours of training and supervision with Gary Friedman at the Priory, buffet
lunches, coffee breaks, dinner at Hotel Beausite on Thursday night, materials and the book “INSIDE-OUT:
WORKING THROUGH CONFLICT”.
The first 20 people who sign-up are guaranteed a place in the program, the others will be added to a waiting
list.
