Gochenour Benecke Family Mark Murphy Marlene Sabo Sandra Reiling And All The Faithful Departed Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, St. John Paul II once reflected that the motherly love of the Church consists in being close to people and all that happens to them, bringing their human needs within the radius of Christ’s saving power. Next weekend, we will have an opportunity to share in the motherly love of the Church by supporting the traditional Mothers’ Day collection for Catholic Charities. The money received in this collection will be used to help those who are in need right here in our own diocese through services such as job training and assistance with housing for refugees, mentoring programs for at-risk teens, support for those experiencing an unexpected pregnancy, assistance for those who wish to build their family through adopting, and help for older men and women in finding enriching volunteer work or gainful employment. In the name of Mary, the mother of Christ, who spent her life looking out for the needs of others and in so doing, drew closer to her Son, I ask you to be as generous as you can with this collection. Sincerely yours in Christ, Most Reverend Kevin C. Rhoades Bishop of Fort Wayne—South Bend ST.
