Psalm 128 “Blessed are those who fear the Lord.” 1 Thessalonians 5:1-6 “The day of the Lord will come like a thief at night.” . Matthew 25:14-30 The parable of the or 25:14-15, 19-21 talents Solemnity of Christ the King November 22 & 23, 2014 Ezekial 34:11-12, 15-17 Psalm 23 1Corinthians 15:20-26, 28 Matthew 25:31-46 Intercession for Life For those who are ill: May they draw strength from the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Who is always with us in our sufferings; Today’s readings really hinge on the letter of Saint Paul to the Thessalonians. He warns us to stay alert and sober, for the day of the Lord “will come like a thief in the night.” The first reading praises the “worthy wife,” who by her deeds—reaching out to the poor and needy— is always ready. And the Gospel parable of the talents is well known to us. Our question today could well be. How am I using my gifts to get ready for the coming of the Lord? We pray to the Lord Stewardship Report A FINANCIAL GUIDE FOR TITHERS You can gift wrap your tithe in a personalized envelope! Please contact our Parish Office for details. If you are considering leaving your gift as a will or bequest to the parish and would like additional information, please contact our office at (808) 455-3012 Multiplying Talents in our Family Life By: Kristina Ml. DeNeve Adult Faith Formation Coordinator Diocese of Honolulu Most of us already understand today’s Gospel. Especially when it comes to our families, we know we must give our all, all our talents, our skills, our flexibility, our love. Whatever God has given us, we know we need to use it (often to the max!) for the good of our ohana. But, what about the , uhm, “unevenness” of the talents? Today’s Gospel begins some people having more and some having less. That’s given. It’s presumed. Take the analogy to our families and we also assume some of our family members will have more patience, while others will have less. More or less intelligence. More or less drive. More or less faith. Family life becomes really difficult when we forget the start of this parable! Often, when our keiki act up, we want our spouse to have as much patience as we do, forgetting he/she has only “two talents” to our five. In all cases, the Holy Spirit wants to act in our lives to “multiple” the talent/skill/virtue/love we have. Can we help the Holy Spirit by not asking our loved ones to multiple talents they do not possess? “Healing Mass” Saturday, November 22nd Star of the Sea Church, 4470 Aliikoa St., Honolulu, Hawaii 9:30am - Praise & Worship Preparing our hearts to receive healing from God! 10:00 a.m. Mass with Anointing of the Sick & Laying on of Hands. “Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved; for Thou art my Praise!:” Jeremiah 17:14 All are Welcome! The Solemnity of Christ the King is “the final Sunday of the Liturgical Year.” It is a feast day that focuses on the authority of Christ. While the problem our world faces today differ from the particular events that inspired Pope Pius XI to established this feast in the 1920’s, his message and call to honor Christ the King in a society that denies the authority of Our Lord is no less pertinent now than it was then. http://ww.aquinasand more.com/catholic-articles/Christ-the-kingSunday/article/205 All are invited to participate the Procession of Christ the King to be held immediately after our 5:00pm Holy Mass on Sunday, November 23, 2014.
