The main location and nerve center for the UnitedHealthcare US OPEN will be located in downtown Minneapolis at the fabulous LIFE TIME FITNESS Target Center, the same building in which the Minnesota Timberwolves play. All pro matches and many of the amateur matches will take place at this facility, located in the center of the exciting Entertainment District in Minneapolis. Restaurants, nightclubs, hotels, and world class shopping are located all around the club. Just four blocks away is the second LIFE TIME location that will be utilized, the Minneapolis LIFE TIME Athletic Club. Lastly, a short fifteen-minute complimentary shuttle ride to the third location – LIFE TIME FITNESS Moore Lake, will complete the rotation. The unique construction of the court allows stadium seating for more than 1,200 in addition to courtside luxury boxes for sponsors and VIPs. Dramatic player introductions complete with laser light shows and booming music will treat racquetball fans to a total entertainment experience. The crystal clear acrylic walls will make you feel like you are in the court with the players! PARTIES, PARTIES, AND MORE PARTIES That’s right! For those of us who like to enjoy your evenings, the UnitedHealthcare US OPEN promises a solid week of non-stop fun, kicking off with a Thursday night International/VIP Reception and then Thursday late-night “get together” at the Marriott City Center Lobby Bar. And that’s only the beginning! On Friday evening, the action moves to Minneapolis’ own Huberts, which will feature a DJ spinning the hottest tunes for your dancing pleasure. Saturday evening will top off the party calendar with the gala racquetball bash of the year – the 20th Annual UnitedHealthcare US OPEN “PARTY WITH THE PROS” (21 & over only) at the red hot POURHOUSE nightclub in downtown Minneapolis. More than 600 racquetball fans and guests are expected to turn out for an evening of exciting entertainment, wonderful desserts, and live entertainment. The cost for guests is $15 per person. Players participating in the UnitedHealthcare US OPEN will be admitted free! PLAY BEGINS/STARTING TIMES/ CONFIRMATION/ENTRY DEADLINE Players must be prepared to play as early as 8 a.m. on the dates indicated in the chart below. Requests for special starting times must be indicated on the entry form. Every effort will be made to accommodate special requests, however no guarantees can be made. Starting times will be available after 5 p.m. on Monday, October 5th on-line at www.UnitedHealthcareUSOPEN.com. CHECK-IN All player registration will take place at the downtown LIFE TIME FITNESS Target Center(main host club). Check-in is required prior to participating in the event. Hours for registration are: Tuesday, October 6th, 3 p.m.- 10 p.m.; Wednesday, October 7th, 8 a.m.- 10p.m.; Thursday, October 8th, 8 a.m.- 9 p.m.; and Friday, October 9th, 8 a.m.- 9 p.m. SKILL LEVEL CERTIFICATION Skill level entrants (A, B, C, D divisions) must be certified at that level by the state director or country representative as being legitimately competitive in the entered skill division at a major national level event. Tournament Directors will use these benchmarks to determine eligibility for skill competition and reserve the right to re-classify or disqualify players when/ if they are improperly placed. NOTE: Players in Age+Skill must meet the same criteria. TICKETS FOR PRO MATCHES Everyone wanting to watch pro matches will be required to purchase tickets — see ticket application or call (719) 6355396 ext.0. All non-players must purchase a ticket to be admitted to the Saturday evening “PARTY WITH THE PROS” (21 & over). Seating is limited, therefore it is strongly recommended that you purchase tickets in advance. ABSOLUTELY NO VIEWING FOR PRO MATCHES WILL BE PERMITTED WITHOUT A TICKET. Last year’s ticket packages sold out three weeks in advance, so don’t delay! A very limited number of four-person courtside luxury boxes (with 5-star catered GOLD Lounge access) may be available. In addition, Wednesday evening, October 7th, 32 lucky amateurs will have the opportunity to play in a single elimination (one game to 15) doubles challenge with a top professional player as their partner. All proceeds will be donated to St. Jude and JDRF, and each amateur player will receive an autographed racquet from their pro partner. You must make reservations by September 13th for these special rates and they often sell out early. Regular shuttle service will be available between the main host club (LIFE TIME FITNESS Target Center) and LIFE TIME FITNESS Moore Lake (15-minute ride). The third club- (Minneapolis LIFE TIME Athletic Club) is walking distance from the main club downtown (four blocks). Two host hotels are located downtown and are walking distance to the main club. Parking/Airport Transportation Parking downtown, like most major cities, can be expensive. For players staying at the Hyatt Place, a special $20 per day rate will be honored in their parking lot. For players flying in for the event, a rental car is not neccessary. For just $1.75 you can catch the Light Rail train at the airport which will bring you right downtown to the Target Center. Two host hotels and two of the three clubs are walking distance from each other. The third club, in Fridley, is just 15 minutes away and the UnitedHealthcare US OPEN will offer a free shuttle every 20 minutes from the main Target Center club.
