PRO DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
AVEIRO REGION, PORTUGAL
Pro Direct Soccer Academy Portugal, in association with Pro Direct Sport Ltd
runs a 9 month Full-time Academy Programme for players aged 16-22 in the Alveiro region.
Following the incredible success of our Academies in the UK and Indonesia, and with over
10,000 registered players, Pro Direct Academy launched in Portugal during January 2016.
The Pro Direct Academy Portugal ‘Pro Development Programme’ is THE solution to help young players make
the move from the youth and amateur football into the senior and professional game. The improvement
and development of elite level players and coaches is the primary focus and the programme offers a player
far more than just football coaching. It is the opportunity to be fully submerged in the experience of
a professional player for a full 9 month season, from a top level football training program set by
UEFA Pro License coaches and current professional players, to playing selected weekly games against
selected Portuguese Primeira Liga, Portuguese Segunda Liga and Spanish La Liga clubs .
This season long programme offers the ultimate experience and insight of being a footballer for
young players from all over the world. We have already coached boys from as far away as the USA and Russia.
We are looking for players, ideally between the age of 16 and 22, who wish to spend one to two years of their
development in Portugal, where they will take residence at the Pro Direct Academy Hotel in the beautiful area
of Aveiro, on the coast of Portugal near to the major city of Porto. It is here where players will train daily on a
seven day full time rota as they would at a professional club. The Academy philosophy supports the need for a
seven day programme to truly have the opportunity to develop to the levels required to reach the professional
game in Europe. It is the perfect introduction to professional European football and will give players
the opportunity of top level full-time football training and playing weekly against Pro club Academies.
Carlos André - Head Coach (Portugal)
A UEFA Pro Licensed Coach, former professional football player with a career of 25 years, Carlos started his career
in senior football at the young age 17. He is a proud winner of the Portuguese FA Cup with SC Beira-Mar, the most
important and historical competition of the Portuguese Football Federation. He also experienced playing at the highest
level in Portugal with Primeira Liga club SC Braga and in the professional leagues of England, Germany, Romania and
Italy. He played for the Portugal National Team at junior level and also represented the Mozambique National Team.
He was coach of pro club SC Beira-Mar for Season 2013/2014 being recognised for his leadership methods and went
on to become interim manager of the same football club in the Portuguese Primeira Liga.

Location
Pro Direct Academy Portugal is based in the Aveiro region and it is here that our players
will train daily on a seven day full time rota as they would at a professional club.
The Academy philosophy believes you need a seven day programme to truly have the
opportunity to develop to the levels required to reach the professional game.
We need time to carry out our sessions from technical and tactical football sessions, to our player’s
gym and strength & conditioning work, pool recovery, yoga, pre-game meditation and relaxation,
video analysis, guest seminars from professional players and most importantly our weekly fixtures
against some of the biggest clubs in Portugal and Europe!
Pro Direct will design for each player a team and individual programme where they
are trained in the environment expected by any modern day professional footballer.
Clubs & Matchdays
We have partnerships with several clubs in Portugal and Spain. Players from Pro Direct Academy
Portugal have already signed for clubs in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Portuguese Leagues.
The Pro Direct squad have played friendlies in Spain, against 3rd division UD Santa Marta and against
Salamanca, also in the 3rd tier of Spanish football.
We are planning friendlies in August 2016 against clubs in Spain and England.
Matchday experience against Pro Club Academies and youth teams in Portugal
As an ex-professional player, our Coaching Director Carlos André has long
standing relationships with leading Portuguese professional clubs
and experience of match day arrangements. The Pro Direct Academy Portugal
squad will play matches against Portuguese Primeira Liga, Segunda Liga and
selected Spanish La Liga clubs.
Facilities
Here at the Academy a strong emphasis is put into providing first class facilities.
Training is held on a FIFA graded natural grass surface, Stadium Venue in Anadia
which is the home ground of Segunda B club Anadia FC and also host to EURO 2004 international
squad preparations. Alternatively we carry out the majority of the weekly sessions on a brand
new synthetic 4G pitch located in Famalicao less than 2km from our 3 Star hotel accommodation
and is also the home stadium of the local 4th Division club.
As well as top class training pitches, for technical sessions the Academy players have their own
exclusive access to a fully equipped gym, games consoles for EA FIFA matches, a swimming
pool with Sauna & Jacuzzi for recovery and an indoor futsal pitch in the unlikely event of adverse
weather conditions, so training will remain uninterrupted.
Lifestyle
The Estalagem de Sangalhos 3 Star Sport & Nature Hotel is home to our Academy
players and the official partner hotel of Pro Direct Academy Portugal. Situated in the Aveiro
province of Portugal, Sangalhos is a very peaceful and natural part of the region that allows
players to disconnect and focus solely on football without outside distractions found in a big city
environment. The region boasts many sporting facilities and Sangalhos is in fact home
to the National Velodrome which was constructed in 2009 and when not being used by
the Portuguese national team, sees many professional cycling teams such as the
French National team and even Team SKY visit the region to conduct training camps.

The Estalagem de Sangalhos is located Just a short journey from two major cities both located 25-30km
away in opposite directions. To the West is the seaside town of Aveiro, named the
‘Venice of Portugal’ that boasts some of the best beaches in the country and has hundreds
of restaurants and local attractions that bring thousands of tourists to the town each year.
Thirty minutes travel south is the historic cultural university city of Coimbra, which has fantastic
buildings to explore many of which are classified as a world heritage site. Both can be easily accessed by
train from Sangalhos and players are free to do so on rest days. There will also be the opportunity to watch
Portuguese Primeira Liga matches in Coimbra when Academica host the likes of Benfica, FC Porto and
Sporting Lisbon.
Sangalhos is located just 50 minute drive south east of Porto, the international Airport allows easy arrival
to the Academy and also makes the possibility of going to watch UEFA Champions League games very easy
with FC Porto making it to the final eight in the 2014-15 season.
Safe and secure environment
All players will be housed together in our own secure hotel. Pro Direct Soccer Academy staff will be
available on site 24 hours per day to monitor their welfare. We ensure that they benefit from
a high standard of accommodation and that they enjoy themselves responsibly and are
professional in their public behaviour at all times.
