We are often asked why a class is cancelled and sometimes it is because an instructor cannot run the class, or there are no opportunities to reschedule after a weather event. But most classes are cancelled because of low enrollment. Enrichment classes are self-supporting. This means each class must create enough revenue to cover all costs. Therefore, when enrollment is low, we need to cancel, most often the week before a class is scheduled to start. Don’t delay, sign-up today! By phone, mail or on the web! Kittery School District District News and information can be found on the Kittery School Department’s Web Site at www.kitteryschools.com. This miscommunication results in inappropriate motor or behavioral responses. A person, usually a child, will have difficulty processing and acting on the information their nervous system receives from the body’s senses and can have challenges performing everyday activites. Do you know how to read blueprints? Understand how HVAC works? Know how to prep and paint a wall? We are looking for people who can share these important work and life skills with our students. • Retired or Stopped-Out Certified Maine Teachers: Running a Learning Lab or teaching a short-term class will allow you to put your valuable skills to work in a flexible, creative environment with nontraditional students. • Computer/Technology Tutors: We need tutors to teach all levels of computer and technology skills. • Classroom Support Tutors: These tutors work with an instructor in a classroom setting. With the support of the instructor, the tutors work with students who need extra attention in the classroom. • ESOL tutors: If you can speak English fluently, our English Speakers of Other Languages can benefit from having a conversation with you. Talking about current events, the meaning of common words, or even the weather will allow the ESOL student to practice speaking in English, which is a vital part of learning any new language. Childcare: Some Adult Education students need care so they can attend classes, study or even sit for an exam. We need childcare volunteers for both our day and evening sessions. Getting the Word Out: Even though it only takes a few minutes to drop our brochures off at local businesses, coffee shops, and gathering places in your neighborhood, it makes a huge difference in our efforts to ‘get the word out’ to students. d e t n Wa ADVISORY COMMITTEE TEAM MEMBERS Wa nte d Both Kittery and Marshwood Adult Education programs are looking for individuals who have a passion for the nontraditional learners in their community.
