Motorists Are Warned To Watch For Deer Submitted by North Dakota Game & Fish Dept. Motorists are reminded to watch for deer along roadways, HVSHFLDOO\WKLVWLPHRI\HDUEHFDXVHMXYHQLOHDQLPDOVDUHGLVpersing from their home ranges. October through early December is the peak period for deer-vehicle accidents. Motorists are advised to slow down and exercise caution after dark to reduce the likelihood of encounters with deer along roadways. Most deer-vehicle accidents occur primarily at dawn and dusk when deer are most often moving around. Motorists should be aware of warning signs signaling deer are in the area. When you see one deer cross the road, look for a second or third deer to follow. Also, pay attention on roadways posted with Deer Crossing Area caution signs. 'HHUYHKLFOHDFFLGHQWVDUHDWWLPHVXQDYRLGDEOH,IDQDFcident does happen, motorists are reminded that a law passed by the 2013 state legislature eliminates the need for the driver involved in an accident to notify law enforcement authorities, if only the vehicle is damaged. Public Comments are due by Wed., Nov. 25, 2015 at 5 p.m. Hell Creek State Park is an important recreation area located on the Fort Peck Reservoir, near Jordan, MT. The area is KHDYLO\XVHGIRUFDPSLQJÀVKLQJDQGUHFUHDWLRQRQWKHUHVHUYRLU As the popularity of the park has grown, so has the demand on natural resources, infrastructure and agency management. Montana State Parks developed the draft site/management plan in order to identify management and infrastructure challenges, DQGHYDOXDWHWKH'LYLVLRQ·VUROHLQIXWXUHPDQDJHPHQWRIWKH site. On Oct. 15, 2015, the Montana State Parks & Recreation Board approved the draft site/management plan to be submitted for public comment. The draft plan proposes three options for consideration. Option #1: Address the existing site infrastructure needs, make priority improvements and continue to manage the site and concession beyond the current Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE) Agreement end date of April 2021 with a new contract or extension. This is the preferred alternative. Option #2: Address the existing site infrastructure needs, PDNHSULRULW\LPSURYHPHQWVDQGFRQWLQXHWRPDQDJHDPRGLÀHG site boundary beyond the current ACOE Agreement end date of April 2021. In this option, Montana State Parks would relinquish the management of the concession operations to the ACOE In Option #3: Montana State Parks would return the site to the ACOE in April 2021 or sooner, according to the terms of the ACOE-State of Montana Agreement. The Division would make only minimal infrastructure improvements until the end of the agreement period. The public is invited to review the draft site/management plan and provide comments by Wed., Nov. 25, 2015 at 5 p.m. A complete version of the Hell Creek State Park Draft Master Site/Management Plan is available at: http://stateparks.mt.gov/ hell-creek/ To submit a public comment online visit stateparks.mt.gov and click on “Submit Comments” or by direct link here: http:// stateparks.mt.gov/news/publicNotices/board/pn_0012.html Submit comments by email to FWPHellCreekPlanning@ mt.gov. The public may also send comments by regular mail to: Hell Creek Master Plan, c/o Maren Murphy, PO Box 200701, Helena, MT 59620-0701.
