Debuting in 2013 with a self-produced EP called «Ages and
Sun», Robbing Millions’ dreamy, psychedelic songs,
loaded with syncopated rhythms and breezy lo-fi synths
immediately started to buzz their way through the Belgian
and French alternative music scene. Robbing Millions got
invited to play several prestigious festivals just months
after their start-up and supported bands as Palma Violets,
Girls in Hawaii and Babyshambles. With «Lonely
Carnivore» Robbing Millions confirm their unique take on
pop music, combining beauty and chaos in equal measure.
Welcome to the bizarro-sound world of Robbing Millions, a band «unlike anything we've heard in quite
some time»: UK-blog «THE 405» couldn’t have used a better way to describe this Brussels-based 5-piece.
After getting selected by Belgian’s most famous concert venue AB (Ancienne Belgique) as one of their
«artist in residence» for the season 2013 - 2014 and playing over 70 shows, including Le Printemps De
Bourges and Pukkelpop, Robbing Millions ended 2014 in style with a brand new EP. Recorded in the
summer with producer Koen Gisen (An Pierlé, Flying Horseman), «Lonely Carnivore» confirms this band’s
unique take on pop music. More refined and with a broader scope, «Lonely Carnivore» is the sound of
band digging deep to hit uncharted territory. The epic «Bigfoot» is full of widescreen acoustic guitars
repeating a simple ringtone-like yet beautiful melody. First single «Dinosaur» is probably the most catchy
off the hook Casio DG20-guitar track ever and «Waverly Hills» is a full blown crazyfest with TC Matic
inspired guitar riffs. And the aforementioned «Warder», well let’s call that a «WHAT THE HELL DID I JUST
EXPERIENCE»-soul song, or as US blog «Pigeons & Planes» puts it: «Like a heavier take on the
Radiohead-inspired psychedelia of Alt-J, Belgian 5-piece Robbing Millions’ ‘Warder’ is music for a trance,
plodding out of silence into a stomping, stilted beat that gives way to moments of beauty and chaos in
equal measure,»
