Providing extensive landscaping services across
the local area, GMS Landscapes recently
expanded their fleet of Kubota machines with
the latest Kubota G2160 purchased from
Andrew Hutchinson of Lloyd Ltd Newcastle.
Graham of GMS was impressed by the great
power-to-weight ratio and the manoeuvrability
of the machine, which is small and light, making
it ideal for getting into tighter areas.
Zetland Estates have, once again, returned
to purchase their groundcare machinery from
Lloyd Ltd Bishop Auckland.
They part-exchanged their old Kubota mower
and have taken delivery of a brand new
4-wheel-drive GR2120 model.
Gary Shaw, Estate Manager, Zetland Estates
commented: “Lloyd Ltd were, as usual, very
helpful in going through which machines were
available to suit our needs and we will have no
hesitation in buying again from Lloyd Ltd.”
With the assistance of Lloyd Ltd Bishop
Auckland’s Alistair Whitby, Heselden Parish
Council bought a new Kubota G2160 to
maintain the Parish grass areas. The Parish’s
John Peace comments:
“We now have 4 Kubota machines being used
in and around the Parish. The G2160 we find
great for the cemeteries and parks - the product
and service are first-class.”
The team on the privately-owned Sledgwick
Estate has used Kubota mowers to cut the
Estate grounds for the last 20 years, so it was
no surprise that they continued with the
machinery they feel comfortable with.
Captain Pease, the Estate’s owner, noted: “The
G1900 Kubota we had did us proud and with
no hesitation it had to be the new version - the
G2160.”
Manoeuvrable, powerful and compact, the
G2160 is the ideal machine for the varied tasks
the team needs to carry out across the Estate.

Managing the extensive grounds around
Alnwick Castle and the impressive Alnwick
Gardens is no easy task. Northumberland
Estates’ Head Groundsman George Turner
recently chose a Kubota B2530 tractor and
Kubota G26 mower to help with the estate
maintenance, purchased from Andrew
Hutchinson of Lloyd Ltd Newcastle. George
commented: “We are delighted with the new
purchases, especially the G26, which offers a
much cleaner cut than the previous machine.”
Managed by the Caravan Club, the caravan
park at Barnard Castle required a machine to be
versatile and manoeuvrable around the vans to
ensure that they could maintain the grassland
around the caravans.
They also needed something with four-wheeldrive due to the inclines around the site. After
speaking to Alistair Whitby of Lloyd Ltd Bishop
Auckland and the Caravan Club Head Office,
the order was placed for the BX2350.
Pictured above is Site Manager, Brian Jones.
Providing commercial landscaping and grounds
maintenance across the North East with a
commitment to sustainability, Joe from Sustain
Landscapes has added another Kubota to his
ever expanding fleet of machinery, this time in the
form of a Kubota B2650 tractor, purchased from
Andrew Hutchinson of Lloyd Ltd Newcastle.
Joe has also recently purchased a Blec Power
Box Rake to add to his range of equipment.
Newcastle University’s campus requires a great
deal of maintenance to keep all the university’s
resources moving around smoothly, hence
they have invested in this new cabbed Kubota
B3030 and a D.W.Tomlin snow plough from
Lloyd Ltd Newcastle’s Andrew Hutchinson.
Ian Walker and his team will be using these
for Winter work with a snow plough and salt
spreader to maintain the paths and roads

class-leading visibility and operator comfort.
Powerful, economical, versatile and efficient, the STW40 features a 40HP, Kubota D1703
3-cylinder diesel engine, HST transmission, Bi-speed turn and twin wet-type disc brakes.
Amongst the oldest clubs in the North East,
Tyneside Golf Club is widely regarded as one of
the finest parkland courses in the region. Head
Greenkeeper Dave Simpson and his team had a
demonstration of the Kubota L5740 tractor from
Andrew Hutchinson of Lloyd Ltd Newcastle and
were so impressed that they ordered the tractor
straightaway as they all agreed that it was best
suited for the course.
RBA Agriculture recently took delivery of this
Kubota L4240, which will be used for tasks
around their 30-acre small holding in the
Northumberland countryside.
With the assistance of Andrew Hutchinson of
Lloyd Ltd Newcastle, they also purchased a
D.W. Tomlin plough power harrow for preparing
the holding’s vegetable patch.
Lochmaben Golf Club purchased a new Kubota
L5040 tractor and tractor-mounted 400-litre
sprayer as Greenkeepers Duncan Scobie and
Craig Irving felt these products suited their
course best.
The new products now join their TORO 3400
Greensmower and TORO 5510 Fairway Mower
as part of their key machinery to manage this
picturesque parkland course.

The team at Middlesbrough Football Club’s
training ground are delighted to be using their
new Kubota STV with its large floatation wheels
for grass-cutting with the 60” deck and various
implements being used on the rear 3-point
linkage. It is ideal for the job thanks to its very
light foot print with the wide turf wheels.
Horden is a village in County Durham, situated on the North Sea coast to the east of Peterlee.
Formerly a mining village, local features include the Welfare and Memorial Parks and St Mary’s
Church. The Council recently purchased the Kubota L4240 to be used around the whole site,
together with a Wessex RMX180 fitted at the rear, cutting cricket outfields and rugby and football
pitches.
Walter, the Council’s Head Groundsman commented: “With the powerful engine’s 44Hp and the
light footprint of the tractor, we found it ideal for our purpose.”

NEW Kubota RTV-X900 Rough Terrain Vehicle
The all-new Kubota RTV-X900, brings a smoother ride, more comfort, even better drivability and more
legroom to Kubota’s extraordinary RTV Series. So, wherever you want to go, whatever the terrain, you can
count on the RTV-X900 to get you there.
Ergonomically designed for optimum driver and passenger comfort and control, the
RTV-X900 offers improved leg room, deluxe split-bench seat, digital easy-read instrument
panel and additional under-seat storage, taking Kubota’s RTV driving experience to
greater new levels of comfort and convenience.
From hauling heavy loads to negotiating the most challenging of terrains the RTV-X900’s
advanced 3-cylinder liquid-cooled Kubota OHV diesel engine has the ability to power
you off-road as well as providing great fuel economy and lower emissions.
The RTV-X900 features Kubota’s innovative VHT-X Variable Hydrostatic
Transmission offering better torque and controls over high ground plus a new
front and rear suspension system for a safe, comfortable ride over any terrain.
The RTV-X900 features a hydraulic lift cargo bed with a class-leading capacity
of up to 15.2 cubic feet plus a 1.0 tonne towing capacity.
Following a demonstration from Andrew
Hutchinson of Lloyd Ltd Newcastle, ELM
upgraded from the old-style RTV 900 utility
vehicle to the new RTVX-900.
Bryn from ELM noted: “The new system and
gearbox make the machine a pleasure to drive.
This machine gets a lot of abuse and work over
hard landscaped areas and I honestly don’t
think another machine would stand these
conditions other than the Kubota.”
In the heart of the Tyne Valley, Stocksfield Golf
Club offers a diverse test of golf with an
interesting combination of mature tree-lined
fairways and open parkland. The Club is actively
investing in new equipment to keep the fleet
fresh and up-to-date, so earlier this year it
purchased a new Toro Groundsmaster
4500-D, Toro Reelmaster 3100-D and
Kubota RTV-X900 utility vehicle.
Head Greenkeeper Phil Armstrong said, “We
continue to deal with Lloyd Ltd Newcastle for
the fantastic service we receive. From sales to
service they are always only too happy to help.”
This is the fifth Kubota RTV purchased by
Mount St John to be used by Jonathon and
Roger around the gardens and estate.
They chose the Kubota due to its high mesh
sides which make it easier to collect large
volumes, together with the carry capacity of
500kg.
The fact that the new RTV-X900 has
homologation to be used on the road safely
and legally was also a key deciding factor.
In recent years Teesside Golf Club has
undergone a major transformation both on and
off the course, making a significant investment
in the course layout and presentation.
As a result, Head Greenkeeper Gary Evans
purchased three new machines from Alistair
Whitby of Lloyd Ltd Bishop Auckland:
“The Toro 4500 has improved the rough with
good comments from the members and the
Toro 3250 is the third we have owned as it is
a great piece of kit. The Kubota RTV is in
addition to the one we already have. These new
machines have been a great assist to our fleet.”

Hustler Trimstar Mower
The TrimStar™ is the most innovative walk-behind machine in the professional mowing industry. The
patented H-Bar™ steering is the easiest-to-use walk-behind system in the field, reducing operator
fatigue. The TrimStar is a unique machine on its own, but it can fit nicely in a fleet when operators have
had to reach places that pose problems for conventional “Z” mowers. When it comes to commercial
mowing, Hustler walk the walk.
Unique TRIMSTAR features:
H-Bar Steering:
Patented steering reduces operator fatigue.
Deck Lift:
Easy-to-operate deck lift makes deck height adjustment a breeze.
Dual Hydrostatic System: Heavy-duty traction and performance.
Simple Design:
Fewer parts means fewer problems and easier service.
Lifetime Warranty:
Lifetime warranty on the leading edge of the deck.
H-Bar steering is the
easiest-to-use walk-behind

Based in the North East, Gentoo is a social
enterprise with a vision to improve the Art of
Living, focused around people, planet and
property.
Yet another purchase for Sustain Landscapes,
this growing landscape company, this time in
the form of a Bobcat E18 mini digger and Brian
James plant trailer.
With the help of Andrew Hutchinson of Lloyd
Ltd Newcastle, Operations Manager Mark
Charlton purchased five Great Dane 32”
Scamper mowers to help maintain their
properties and grounds. They chose the Great
Dane model as it was the only 32” machine to
offer hydraulic drive to each wheel, making it
a safer machine when turning on slopes. The
build quality of the decks and frames was also a
key factor in their choice.
Sustain’s owner Joe Zazzetta had previously
been hiring in machines on a regular basis,
but after a small costing exercise he realised
it was more economical from a business point
of view if he purchased his own, with the help
and advice of Lloyd Ltd Newcastle’s Andrew
Hutchinson.
The Bobcat E18 was fitted with expanding
tracks, long dipper arm and quick hitch, making
it the ideal tool for any building site.
North Tyneside Council purchased a Wessex
RMX-560 roller mower earlier this season from
Andrew Hutchinson of Lloyd Ltd Newcastle.
They chose this particular mower because it
can lift decks independently as a standard
feature with no electro-hydraulics required,
making it much easier for Martin (pictured) to
operate. It also has independent suspension for
superior road travel, impressive build quality and
leaves an excellent finish in all weather
conditions, especially the wet.

TORO 3100-D Reelmaster Mower
The Reelmaster 3100-D is the revolutionary triplex mower designed for superior performance on all
types of turf. The optional Sidewinder cutting units can be shifted right and left, on the fly, for increased
reel overhang and to vary the tyre tracks. The powerful Kubota 21Hp (15.7 kw) engine and exclusive
Series/Parallel 3WD traction drive system gets the mowing job done quickly. And the unique machine
layout, with the engine in the rear and the operator out front allows the operator to mow comfortably
and productively, while the mechanic has fast access to all service items.
Optional Sidewinder cutting units shift left and right a total of 24 inches. This increases the cutting
unit overhang for precise trimming. The tyre tracks can also be shifted within the mowing path to
reduce wear on the turf.
TORO 4500-D Groundsmaster Mower
The free-floating Contour Plus cutting decks follow the contour of the terrain for a championship quality
of cut. With a powerful 60Hp (44.7 kw) Kubota engine and full-time 4-wheel drive, tough jobs get done
quickly. The Groundsmaster 4500-D features a unique, parallel hydraulic traction system that assures
full-time, bi-directional 4-wheel drive. Rear rollers provide an attractive striping effect while you mow,
greatly enhancing the finished look of your turf. Air inlet pockets keep the grass standing tall for
the cleanest possible cut and a modified rear discharge opening disperses clippings more evenly.
An optional mulching kit and optional high height of cut blade are also available.
TORO 5610-D Reelmaster Mower
The Reelmaster 5610-D is designed to deliver the performance you’ve come to expect from TORO.
Built to handle the heavy work load pass after pass and year after year, the 44.2Hp (33 kw) turbo
engine provides the muscle to get the job done with power to spare. The 5610 comes standard with the
larger 7-inch/178mm diameter 8- or 11-blade cutting units. Available in standard two-wheel-drive or add
on the CrossTrax all-wheel-drive system. Precision-machined cutting units maintain levelness and hold
adjustments. Dual Precision Adjustment (DPA) allows quick bedknife to reel adjustment. Harder reel
and bedknife steel retain a sharp edge up to three times longer to minimize the need and frequency of
adjustments, backlapping and grinding, leading to healthier turf that stays green.
Hexham Golf Club went like for like when the
time came to upgrade their rough mower,
choosing another Toro Groundsmaster
4500-D. Course Manager Malcolm, pictured
with Assistant Greenkeeper Jamie, stuck with
the Toro due to the machine’s comfort, build
quality and reliability, with which they are already
familiar and impressed.
Follow us on Facebook for our

Recognised as one of the finest parkland
courses in Dumfries and Galloway and the
South West of Scotland, the Dumfries & County
Golf Club has a reputation for superb greens
and warm hospitality.
After many years of service they replaced their
TORO 6500 with the TORO 5610 model as
it met all of their criteria: reliable build quality,
improved productivity, operator comfort and
low maintenance. Another key factor was the
superior after-cut finish and, after a couple
of pre-opening-day cuts, the members were
already remarking on how the new machine has
improved the condition and appearance of the
fairways.
Mike Etchells, Head Greenkeeper at the scenic
parkland course at Ulverston Golf Club, recently
purchased a new TORO 5610 Reelmaster
Mower from Simon Bell of Lloyd Ltd Carlisle due
to the superior cut and all-round performance of
the machine which, he said, “meant all the lads
in the shed preferred it to the competitors’
machines. They found it far more comfortable
to sit on all day and also like how easy the units
are to set up and work on. The cutting units
also don’t rattle around during transport.”

TORO 3400-D Triflex Mower
The all new Greensmaster® TriFlex™ mowers were designed to take precision cutting to a completely
new level. Adopting the proven Flex suspension, the cutting units float freely over contours and
undulations of the green resulting in a superior quality of cut and aftercut appearance. Improved
serviceability is another major advantage of the new TriFlex™ models. The tool-free, quick-change
cutting units make servicing the cutting units fast and easy and a lift-gate footrest provides easy
access to the centre cutting unit.
The suspension system maintains full floatation range to prevent gouging or scalping when going over
undulations. Superior contour following capability utilises an integrated “Flex” linkage system to allow
cutting units to pivot around the centre of the front roller to master undulations and prevent
side-to-side scrubbing of the putting surface. The suspension system is designed to provide a
slight lift to the inside of the cutting units during turns to deliver a consistently level cut and to
reduce “triplex ring” for improved playability and turf health.
A redesigned clipping capture system maintains a consistent gap between the basket and reel to
retain nearly all grass clippings for a cleaner and healthier cut. In addition, a discharge shield forces
clippings inside of basket and minimises “blow-by”.
A single operator can go from cutting greens at 3.2mm to cutting a fairway at 19mm in just a few
minutes. The tool-free, quick-change cutting units make it as easy as 1-2-3.
“The Castle”, as the original clubhouse was
commonly known, opened in 1912, and since
then Heworth Golf Club has continued to grow
and develop into an impressive and wellregarded course. Following a demonstration
from Andrew Hutchinson of Lloyd Ltd
Newcastle, Head Greenkeeper Colin Pringle
purchased this new Toro 3400-D Triflex
Greensmower on the Club’s behalf.
Colin observed: “it was agreed by all the greens
staff that the Toro was the preferred option
when it came to replacing our greens mower.
The cut quality and finish was outstanding,
especially with having the brush groomers
fitted.”
The start of this season saw Seaham Golf Club
taking delivery of a brand new Toro 3400D Triflex Greensmower, supplied by Andrew
Hutchinson of Lloyd Ltd Newcastle.
Head Greenkeeper Dave Sharkey comments
“We were originally looking for a second-hand
greens mower but after Andrew suggested
having a demonstration with the new Toro
Triflex, this machine became a must have.
We found it to be simply outstanding - the
quick-change cutting units and superb quality
of cut put this machine into a league of its own”.
Founded in 1908 and designed by Dr Alistair Mackenzie, the designer of the Augusta National,
Darlington Golf Club offers top-class greens and quality fairways to challenge golfers of all abilities.
Pictured are Paul Moore, Head Greenkeeper, and Kenneth Blades, the Green Chairman. Paul Moore
commented: “The greens Pro 1240 roller has been a godsend as it means less cutting but increased
greens speed. The Toro 5510 Fairway mower has made a huge difference to the quality of cut,
following the rig and furrows like nothing else while the 4300 rough mower gives great quality of cut
and virtually no grass clippings.”
Over 100 years’ old the Dinsdale Spa Golf
Club is a picturesque parkland course situated
between Middleton St George and Neasham
village. James Tailer, Head Greenkeeper, has
worked with Alistair Whitby of Lloyd Ltd Bishop
Auckland to find the right machines for the
Club’s needs. James observed:
“We now have a Toro fleet of machines
- Fairway 5510, Rough 4500, Greens 3250 and
two 1000 pedestrian mowers, also a Kubota
Tractor STV40.
The new addition 3250 and 1000 machines
have been a worthwhile purchase.
With the Perfection brushes fitted we have
found that the greens have performed well
through the reason with great results. We have
been able to keep the HOC at 4mm and have
true and increased greens speeds. The service
from Lloyd Ltd has been just something that we
now rely on - first class.”

Paul Upton, Head Greenkeeper at Ingleby
Barwick Golf Academy comments on the
purchase of their new TORO MDX-D Workman
Utility Vehicle: “I have found the MDX to be a
great addition to my other TORO machines.
Versatile, easily manoeuvrable - and with the
twisting chassis, all four wheels are always in
contact with the ground for traction. There’s
also ample space in the back for moving
aggregate or travelling with tools.
A great bit of kit!”
Pete Newton, Course Manager at Rockliffe
Hall takes delivery of a new Barreto T024-TK
Trencher from Alistair Whitby of Lloyd Ltd
Bishop Auckland. Pete comments:
“The Bareto is perfect for the smaller drainage
jobs we are planning. It has great power, is well
built and has a good depth range for a variety
of drainage jobs. The lads seem very impressed
with it and it has done a good number of drains
this Winter with little mess.”
The privately-owned Mount St John Estate has

New Holland T6.165 Tractor
T6 tractors are powered by ECOBlue™ SCR Nef engines developed in partnership with FPT Industrial. As
part of the Clean Energy Leader strategy, proven SCR technology uses AdBlue to transform the
harmful nitrogen oxides contained in the exhaust gas into harmless water and nitrogen. This after-treatment
system is separate from the main engine which means only clean, fresh air is fed into the engine. The
result: clean-running power units that offer improved performance, greater reactivity and enhanced
fuel efficiency. The Horizon Cab, with optional Comfort Ride cab suspension, offers outstanding

New Holland T5 Tractor available for demo. Call to book.
Colin Bowley, Fleet and Waste Manager
at Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council
comments on the purchase of their new
New Holland T4.105 tractor:
New Holland tractors have been Farnaby’s
number one for many years, with this
particular model being used on the
300-acre site at Brough Moor Farm, Skeeby, for
everything from cutting the grass to working the
land for seeding preparation.
Having two sets of wheels - Wide Turf and
Agricultural - means it can be used in any
application.

“Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council has
operated a New Holland T4 tractor for a number
of years supporting our beach-cleaning and
other municipal cleansing operations. Following
a successful trial, we were delighted to take
delivery of the upgraded and more powerful
T4.105 tractor this year with front 4-in-1 bucket
and this has already proved popular with our
operators.”
Turfcare Specialists based in Consett, County
Durham, are experienced professional sports
turf contractors focused on making the growth
and maintenance of their customers’ playing
surfaces as simple and as successful as
possible. Earlier this season they purchased
a New Holland T6.140 tractor from Andrew
Hutchinson of Ltd Lloyd Newcastle for those
larger jobs. They chose the New Holland
because it offered an excellent balance of power-to-weight ratio, which is crucial when working
on sports turf surfaces. They also selected a
creep speed gearbox and low ground pressure
floatation tyres so that there would be minimal
markings left on the ground. In addition, they
bought a Kubota BX2350 compact tractor for
the smaller lighter work jobs.
Providing plant hire to customers in Richmond,
North Yorkshire, and the surrounding areas for
30 years, Mac Plant has used Ford New
Holland tractors for most of this time and
recently purchased a new one from Alistair
Whitby of Lloyd Ltd Bishop Auckland for trailer
work, grass-cutting and snow-ploughing.
Managing Director, Adrian McDonald,
commented: “We purchased the New Holland
as a good all-rounder and we have purchased
from Alistair an Etesia H124, Kubota tractors,
a Herbst trailer and many more things over the
years.”
Established in 1999 Dawson Landscapes Ltd is a family-run business which offers grounds
maintenance services to North East schools and businesses. Due to their success with servicing
schools, Managing Director Andrew Dawson decided to speak to Alistair Whitby of Lloyd Ltd Bishop
Auckland to find machinery which was large but did not compromise the quality of cut.
Andrew observed:
“The Kubota M Series with its large turf tyres and the Wessex 3.6M RMX were the perfect match
after trialling them on our sites, as they save us time and money. We have been running the Kubota
and Wessex all season and it has resulted in other contracts being won due to the quality of finish.
We have dealt with Alistair for 15 years and we keep coming back…”

Etesia LKX Pro53 Lawnmower
Theoretical mowing rate: up to 2,910m2 per hour. Can be used on slopes up to 20°.
Mowing with grass collection, mulching and high grass mowing. The exclusive Pro53 mowing
deck design keeps the rounded front specific to mulching (ETESIA BIOCUT concept), while
retaining the raised shell of the ejection outlet specific to ETESIA collectors. The smooth
inner surface and wide ejection outlet are ideal for ejecting grass into the 85-litre grassbox without
clogging - even in the severest conditions. Converting to the mulching function couldn’t be
easier or faster. You simply slot in the mulching kit (provided with the machine) without using any tools
or replacing the blade. A deflector automatically slots into position when the collecting bag is
removed. The bag fills up completely and is easily accessed from either side of the mower.
Individual adjustment on each wheel. Five pre-set, easy-to-handle positions ranging from
25 to 85mm. The semi-agrarian rear wheel profile improves holding on slopes.
Logic GDS250R Gritter
Since its launch in the late 1990s the Logic GDS Salt Spreader has proved to be an invaluable Winter
maintenance tool for many different customers in a huge variety of industry and municipal sectors. In
short, as testified by many satisfied customers, it works!
The GDS uses a moving-floor conveyor system similar to highway-sized salt spreaders to convey the
salt to the spinning disc system. The hopper will hold 465 litres (550kg- 600kg depending on
moisture content) of road/rock salt and is capable of spreading all types of material,
including wet rock salt, grit and sand. A unique agitation system and conveyor floor
ensures wet or dry material can be spread effectively and accurately by a spinning disc.
One of the major benefits of the GDS is that it can be towed behind any suitable towing
vehicle, including 4x4s, pick-ups, UTVs or tractors. (For ATVs/Quads see the GDS150 for a
smaller capacity machine). This makes it very quick to deploy at the first signs of bad weather
and for Winter gritting jobs it dramatically reduces the time needed to complete the task, when
compared to the manual alternative of spreading salt or gritting using shovels.
GDS250R. Now in stock at Lloyd Ltd.
Andrew Metcalfe of Darlington Council
commented on the Council’s recent purchase
from Alistair Whitby of Lloyd Ltd Bishop
Auckland:
“We have had the Etesias - both lk and phts
models - for 5 years now. They were bought
because of their low HAVS and durability.
The new machines were bought to keep the
quality of grass-cutting up and the service costs
down. They have been a proven product. We
did demo other machines on the market but
none matched the quality of cut in the wet and
constant low HAVS year after year.
We also liked the upgrade to lkx models - their
diff-lock - it has made a safer machine for the
operators.”
The Council also purchased a Logic GDS250R
Gritter to use around the town centre’s paths
and roads.
Situated on the outskirts of Durham in the Tees
Valley, Wynard Hall is a striking four-star hotel
surrounded by 150 acres of historical
landscape. Steven Milegan worked with Alistair
Whitby of Lloyd Ltd Bishop Auckland to select
this Logic GDS which is to be used to keep the
roads along its 10-mile route around the
Wynyard Estate and Hotel free from ice and
snow so that road users and pedestrians are
safe through the Winter months.

Baroness HMC1560
Hammer-Knife Mower
The ability of the HMC1560 to reduce brush and shrub to a smooth mulch whilst working on
gradients and terrain where few would dare to tread is simply amazing! As with all Baroness
machines, simplicity and efficiency are key attributes of Baroness’ Hammer-Knife Mower range.
A tried and tested concept that has been in production for many years in our home market of
Japan, the HMC1560 offers outstanding solutions to slope mowing problems and has been
fully approved by Network Rail in the UK.
The operator platform stays vertical up to the maximum operating angle of the machine
and the track system not only provides excellent stability on slopes but also low ground
pressure and superb traction in the wettest of ground conditions.
A-One+ purchased this Baroness HMC1560
Hammer/Knife Monster Flail to cut the sides
of the A1 and it is now the third machine to be
delivered over three years thanks to its efficient
performance. Ken Walker, Plant & Transport
Manager at A-One+ commented:
“It’s hard to find anything to match the ability
and productivity of the Baroness machine.
It works well on the gradients and is tough
enough to withstand most things that you
find in the long grass along the sides of our
trunk roads. We have recently undertaken
some fence-to-fence work along our major
trunk roads’ cutting areas, which have been
untouched for decades. The Baroness made
short work of the thick undergrowth such as
brambles and produced a good finish to the
grass mown areas.”

The gardens belonging to St Nicholas, the oldest dwelling in Richmond, North Yorkshire, are a
series of compartments laid out and planted from 1905 by the Hon. Robert ‘Bobbie’ James. Covering
an area of some seven acres amongst the Garden Rooms are a Formal Garden bounded by topiary
hedges, a Cottage Garden, Rock Garden, Potager and Herb Garden and splendid Long Borders.
Today the gardens are being sensitively resurrected and replanted in the spirit of their founder.
Much of the work is being carried out by Luke Richardson - who is pictured here with his able assistant
Willy (seated on the new Etesia).
Luke is delighted with his new purchases from Alistair Whitby of Lloyd Ltd Bishop Auckland and
commented: “I have no problem at all in making purchases from Lloyd Ltd as I have known Alistair
for some years now. He has always looked after me - with excellent sales, parts and after-sales
servicing from his professional and efficient team.”
GKB’s new UK operation
Dutch manufacturer GKB have set up their own
distribution point in the UK, having previously been
marketed by Blec, following a recent decision to
set up on their own. GKB Machines Ltd will be run
by Tom Shinkins, a former employee of Blec who
has been in and around the turf industry for around
15 years and was once a green keeper, putting
him in the ideal position to understand the needs
of his customers.
The GKB Combinator is already a well-known tool
with some of the biggest sports turf contractors in
the UK. The ability to fit fraze mow and scarifying
blades on the same rotor saves both cost and
time, and now they have released a new rotor
system to fit the new hybrid chisel, for use on
hybrid (desso) type surfaces. GKB have the
backing of a large contracting business in the
Netherlands and take on small landscaping jobs
through to complete pitch renovations.
This added expertise passed on to the design
and development team means GKB machines are
constructed to highest standards and designed
to last, with a new range of top-dressers and new
equipment for artificial turf.

SYSTEMIC NOZZLES
CONTACT NOZZLES
Systemic nozzles provide excellent spray distribution through a wide angle,
flat spray pattern. These nozzles are excellent at reducing spray drift.
Contact nozzles provide excellent spray distribution over a wide range of
pressures. These nozzles allow for better coverage at higher pressures.
AIC TeeJet® (Air Induction Flat Fan)
The AIC TeeJet® (Air Induction Flat Fan) nozzle is a good general-purpose
nozzle that can be used for both contact and systemic applications.
The spray pattern is 110 degrees with tapered edges similar to a
standard flat fan. This nozzle produces coarse air-filled droplets with a
venturi air aspirator. The air-filled drops reduce spray drift but provide
good contact coverage.
Air Induction nozzles can be operated at higher spray pressures without
creating excessive spray drift. Distribution AIC nozzles are best when used
at pressures above 30 psi.
Air Induction Turbo TwinJet®
The Air Induction Turbo TwinJet® is an air induction style nozzle with two
separate 110-degree spray patterns. One spray pattern is directed forward
of vertical and the second pattern is directed rear of vertical.
This nozzle creates medium and coarse droplets and is an excellent nozzle
for contact applications where drift control is needed.
The two independent spray patterns improve contact coverage by spraying
the turf at two different angles.
TurfJet Wide Angle Flat Spray
The TurfJet is a wide 130-degree angle nozzle with a tapered fan pattern.
The TurfJet is best suited for systemic applications where distribution quality
is the primary goal. The TurfJet creates extra coarse droplets and provides
good drift control.
Distribution quality is excellent at all pressures.
XRC TeeJet® Flat Fan
The Standard XRC Flat Fan nozzle has a 110-degree tapered spray pattern
and produces medium and fine droplets. Because of the smaller droplets
the Standard XRC Flat Fan is best suited for contact applications where drift
control is not needed.
