Summary This report by Green Globe Europe Ltd (“GGE”) is on streetlight trials for the Mairie de Puteaux (west west of Paris next to the commercial centre cent called La Defense) – stage 2, phase 1. 1 The 1st report highlighted the successful results of the 1st trial – 2 induction lights in rue Montaigne, Puteaux. From the initial successful trail, the city council has asked us to submit a proposal to run a bigger bigg trial – 3 whole streets. This is the 1st part of this 2nd stage – the installation of 2 x 150W street lights (not retrofit kits) in rue Tilleuls. The 2nd part will be done in March, 2011 when the retrofit kits are installed. This report provides results of the preliminary measurements. Conclusions The measurements show that – For 50% less power (compared to old passive ballast 250W HPS lights) GGE/AMKO induction street lights provide as much lux on the ground and provide better light quality. Figure 1 - Google Map of avenue de Tilleuls In the above map you will see avenue de Tilleuls is a short East/West street split in 2. The left hand side is about 110m long and has the original 2 x 250W HPS lights. The right hand side is about 95m long and has GGE induction lights – i) 1 x 150W AF10-B50S-150S 3000K street light; plus ii) 1 x 150W AF10-B50S-150S 5000K street light. The street light fixture, even with brand new globes has poor fixture efficiency. It is estimated that the fixture efficiencies are • GGE AF10-B50S-150S - > 77% • Existing HPS - max. 50% Note that we also delivered lights with 2-wire 2 0-10VDC 10VDC interface so that they can be dimmed. This can be done via LONWorks nodes or the ETDE Citybox. The next set of photos show night photos of the existing lights. Copyright © 2004-2010 by Green Globe Europe 5 Figure 5 – Existing street lights, avenue de Tilleuls One will notice on the 3 photos of the existing 250W HPS lights that they have poor colour rendition. In the 1st of these you will see 2 cars below the HPS light are blue & red. As mentioned, 2 different colours of GGE induction lights were installed – 3000K & 5000K. This was done so that the city of Puteaux can compare light quality against existing HPS lights and also against the 3000K & 5000K retrofit kits in rue de Montaigne. One can see the green leaves on the tree, the cream coloured wall and the blue-grey car in the distance. About 10cm higher than the road • Lamps • 7.5 metres off the ground • 0.5m back from curb • Average distance between streetlights - 38 to 40 metres • Lights - 150W HPS SON. 1 side of street only – North side. In the 1st stage, ETDE measured the actual power consumption of the existing 250W HPS streetlights and the induction replacement lights. ETDE has to take real measurements of the power consumption of the lights. Even so, we will use the stage 1 readings. They were – • 250W HPS - 300W (We are taking a lower estimated in case these lights are better quality. Avenue Montaigne results were actually 350W) • 150W induction - 156W (0.7A) • 48% energy saving We also know that with passive HPS lights the power factor is very low – approx. 0.8. With induction lights & electronic ballasts, the power factor is between 0.95 & 0.98. 10 Copyright © 2004-2010 by Green Globe Europe
