SPRING 2010 CATALOG
Products with Release Date from January - April 2010
Welcome to the
DBD Spring 2010 Catalog!
2009 was a tumultuous year with the economy, but graphic
novels, manga, sci-fi, games, and pop-culture related merchandise had another terrific year. Success stories included Dark
Horse’s on-going BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER SEASON EIGHT, IDW’s brilliant relaunch of the STAR TREK franchise, Image’s mega-hit WALKING DEAD from Robert
Kirkman, and Marvel bringing the classic sci-fi series ENDER’S GAME into the
graphic novels world.
2010 promises to be a stellar year with a mix of promising newcomers (Nadja
Spiegelman), returning superstars (Stephen King), and another slate of pop-culture
events including SPIDER-MAN’s debut on Broadway in February and Tim Burton’s
ALICE IN WONDERLAND feature film in March.
This Spring’s title offerings truly have something for everyone. In January we’ll see
the graphic novel debut of one of the all-time great books of our time, STEPHEN
KING’S THE STAND: AMERICAN NIGHTMARES from Marvel. In February Dark
Horse will bring out an omnibus of CHOBITS from the manga supergroup
CLAMP. In March IDW will re-invent another timeless franchise, this time the
GHOSTBUSTERS with DISPLACED AGRESSION. In April Archie brings forth an
event 80 years in the making – ARCHIE: THE WEDDING. As a bonus, in April Toon
Books will launch the comics career of one Nadja Spiegelman with her debut title
ZIG AND WIKKI: SOMETHING ATE MY HOMEWORK. Nadja is none other than
the daughter of Art Spiegelman and Francoise Mouly. Years from now we will look
back at this moment when a new star is born.

GUNDAM 00 LITE NOVEL 2
• The novelization of the hit anime series! The year is 2307 A.D.
Although fossil fuels have been depleted, humanity has
obtained a new source of energy to replace them in the form of
a large-scale solar power generation system based on three
huge, orbital elevators. However, the benefits of this system are
available only to a handful of major powers and their allies.
These are the Union, led by the United States of America; the
Human Reform League, led by China, Russia, and India; and
the AEU, led by Europe. These superpower blocs continue to
play a grand zero-sum game for the sake of their own prestige
and prosperity. In this world of never-ending conflict, a private
armed organization appears, dedicated to the elimination of war
through armed force. Its name is Celestial Being, and it is in
possession of Gundam mobile suits. With these Gundams, it
begins armed intervention into all acts of war.

IN THE WALNUT (YAOI)
• What do a gallery owner, Hideo Tanizaki, and a young, naive
filmmaker, Sohei Nakai, have in common? Well, both of them
are 24-years-old — that’s a good start. They both graduated
from the same art school — that can’t hurt either. The fact that
Tanizaki has a perchance for art forgery is just one “minor” difference between the two that Tanizaki hopes to rectify pretty
quickly. Under Tanizaki’s influence, Nakai is inducted into the
shady world of counterfeit art and black market dealings.
However, not all of Tanizaki’s soul has been corrupted by the
promise of money and power. With a kind soul, perhaps even
these high-stake crimes can be put to good use.

KING AROO VOLUME 1
• The Library of American Comics proudly presents a
•
long-neglected classic — King Aroo! Lauded by critics in the pantheon of great strips such as Krazy Kat,
Pogo, and Barnaby, Jack Kent’s brilliantly conceived
world brought smiles to young and old alike with its
fanciful array of clever puns, visual humor, and good
old slapstick. The postage-stamp-sized kingdom of
Myopia is presided over by kindly King Aroo and his
faithful (if sometimes prickly) retainer, Yupyop. The
King turns to Professor Yorgle for wisdom, Wanda
Witch for magic spells, the kangaroo mailman, Mr.
Pennipost, for news from far and wide…and looks
for love from the Beautiful Princess From the
Kingdom Next Door.
Volume One celebrates the strip’s 60th anniversary
by presenting every daily and Sunday strip from the
beginning in 1950 through 1952, reproduced from
original artwork and syndicate proofs from the Jack
Kent Estate. The series is edited and designed by
Eisner Award-winner, Dean Mullaney, with an illuminating biographical text feature by Bruce Canwell,
and an introduction by Sergio Aragones.

can the last heist in American history be pulled off? In the nottoo-distant future as a final response to terrorism and crime, the
U.S. government plans in secret to broadcast a signal making it

Enter: Graham Brick. A career criminal never quite able to hit
the big score, Graham intends to steal one of the charging stations, skip the country, and live off unlimited funds for the rest

team have just a few days to turn the crime of the century into
the last crime in American history.

Mot is a boy who cannot die. Riddle him with bullets,
burn him at the stake, douse him with napalm, hang
him from the gallows... still, he will walk away. He is
a Revenant — an immortal, ageless creature that has
existed since time immemorial. Their origins are a
mystery — they have been worshipped as gods,
feared as monsters, and scorned as devils. But they
have always been there living in plain sight in the
bright altars and dark corners of every ancient civilization since the beginning of humanity. There has
never been a force on this earth that has been able to
give them the death that Mot secretly seeks. Until
now. Now, something is different. Now they are
being hunted! A shadow organization known only as
Sanctum has discovered a way to kill the Revenants,
and is carrying out a secret genocide that spans the
globe. Mot, his protégé Connor, and the rest of the
Revenants now must decide how to ensure their
place at the top of the food chain.

STARFISHERS VOLUME 1:
SHADOWLINE
• The vendetta in space had started centuries before “Mouse”
Storm was born with his grandfather’s raid on the planet
Prefactlas, the blood bath that freed the human slaves from their
Sangaree masters. But one Sangaree survived — the young
Norborn heir, the man who swore vengeance on the Storm family and their soldiers, in a carefully mapped plot that would take
generations to fulfill. Now Mouse’s father Gneaus must fight
for an El Dorado of wealth on the burning half of the planet
Blackworld. As the great private armies of all space clash on the
narrow Shadowline that divides inferno from life-sheltering
shade, Gneaus’ half- brother Michael plays his traitorous
games, and a man called Death pulls the deadly strings that
threaten to entrap them all — as the Starfishers Trilogy begins.

TAILS OF WONDER

• The depth and breadth of what science fiction and fantasy fic-
tion is changes with every passing year. The two dozen stories
chosen for this book by award-winning anthologist Jonathan
Strahan carefully maps this evolution, giving readers a captivating and always-entertaining look at the very best the genre has
to offer.
• Jonathan Strahan has edited more than twenty anthologies and

annuals. He has won the Ditmar, William J. Atheling Jr., and
Peter McNamara Awards for his work as an anthologist, and is
the reviews editor for Locus.
ZENDEGI
• In 2012, journalist Martin Seymour travels to Iran to cover the
parliamentary elections. With most would-be candidates disqualified this turns out to be the expected non-event, but shortly afterward a compromising image of a government official captured on
a mobile phone triggers a political avalanche. Nasim Golestani, a
young Iranian scientist living in exile in the United States, is hoping to work on the Human Connectome Project — which aims to
construct a detailed map of the wiring of the human brain — but
when government funding for the project is cancelled and a
chance comes to return to her homeland, she chooses to head
back to Iran. Fifteen years later, Martin is living in Iran with his
wife and young son, while Nasim is in charge of the virtual world
known as Zendegi, used by millions of people for entertainment
and business. When Zendegi comes under threat from powerful
competitors, Nasim draws on her old skills, and data from the
now-completed Human Connectome Project, to embark on a program to create more life-like virtual characters and give the company an unbeatable edge. As controversy grows over the nature
and rights of these software characters, tragedy strikes Martin’s
family. Martin turns to Nasim, seeking a solution that no one else
can offer ... but Zendegi is about to become a battlefield.
STARFISHERS VOLUME 2:
STARFISHERS
• Starfish:
Treasure troves of power. They were creatures of
fusion energy, ancient, huge, intelligent, drifting in herds on the
edge of the galaxy, producing their ambergris, the substance
precious to man and the man-like Sangaree alike. In deep, starless space the herds were protected by the great harvestships of
the Seiners, or Starfishers — the independent, nonConfederation people who dared to skirt the deadly boundaries
of Stars’ End and battle the Sangaree. It is with them on the harvestship Danion that Confederation agents Mouse Storm and
Moyshe BenRabi have to fly and fight, probing mystery and
myth. And where BenRabi, man of many names, must surrender his dreams and his mind itself to the golden dragons of
space and their shepherds, the gathering... Starfishers.

armies of mercenaries from the northern
nation of Brevoy have turned their attention south to
the region of the River Kingdoms called the “Stolen
Land,” and hope to reclaim control of these lands to
expand their power. Yet the dangerous denizens of
the Stolen Land will not give up their lairs quietly.
The heroes are one of four groups sent south to
explore these wilderness realms and establish
colonies, yet the dense woodlands and rugged hills of

KINGMAKER PART 2 RIVERS RUN RED
• The heroes of the Kingmaker Adventure Path have

claimed their kingdom, and the first shipment of supplies and gold has arrived from the distant north.
While the heroes further explore their new home,
they must at the same time help manage and rule
their nascent kingdom, establish towns and roads and
resources, and keep their realm’s growing population
happy. These tasks are made much more difficult by
regular attacks by marauding monsters, encroaching
tribes of barbaric trolls, and a mysterious but legendary monster roused from ancient slumber by this
expansion into its wilderness territory. And perhaps
worse of all, the bandit lords of the River Kingdoms
themselves have taken notice of this expansion, and
when they turn their retribution north, the rivers will
run red with blood.

GNOMES OF GOLARION
• Countless centuries ago the gnomes emerged into the

world of the Pathfinder Chronicles from the First
World, a mysterious other-realm of half-finished possibilities and relentless natural dangers. Scions of the
immortal fey, the gnomes left their strange homeland
behind and rooted themselves to the world of mortals —
even if those roots have never been particularly strong.
Gnomes of Golarion offers Pathfinder players more
information than ever before about what many
gamers consider the most unique and interesting of
the standard player character races. From details on
gnomish culture, equipment, and names to rules for
the bizarre process known as the Bleaching, when a
gnome’s color begins to fade as he loses connection to
the ephemeral world that spawned his kind, Gnomes
of Golarion has everything you want to know about
