10 miles from Oyster Bay to Rye Playland. (12 to American Yacht Club.)
Since moorings inside the Rye Playland breakwater are first come/first
served and recent soundings show an average of 6-ft of MLW for outer
rows of moorings, participants with deep keels are advised to reserve a
mooring at nearby American Yacht Club (call dockmaster ‘Bud’ 914-9674800). American YC has informed us that there will be no dining
available at the club that night due to a private party. Thrill seekers are
encouraged to join an SCYC group order for Playland admission tickets
($20 each instead of $30 at the door). Ticket orders must be received
by the Port Captain no later than 1200 on Friday 7/15 and the cost will
be billed through the club. SCYC group ticket holders will rendezvous at
the park entrance at 1700 (transportation from the AYC mooring field
available at 1615 courtesy of Commodore Meyer’s, Otter). A later AYC
departure with informal cocktails (BYOB) will be available courtesy of
Commodore Benjamin’s, Avanti and Otter. Playland will provide launch
service from their moorings into a dutch treat dinner at the Pier
Restaurant and Tiki Bar (moorings & launch service are free if you dine
at the Restaurant) at 2000. Reservations for the dinner should be made
through the Port Captain no later than 1200 on Friday 7/22.
Entertainment: Whoz Ya Daddy!
On Sunday morning cruise participants on AYC moorings may opt to
utilize AYC’s pool/beach facilities.
