I hope the start of the new year has brought you success and
more!! The first few months of 2013 have passed with the snap of
a finger. Fall orders are well under way, if not already completed,
and so are the preparations for this years DAC conference. I’ve
gotten some amazing feedback about the 2012 DAC meeting in
Montreal and we are very excited to bring that positive energy to
this years conference in Vancouver!
Preparations are well underway and I can tell you it will be
spectacular. Your Executive Committee and Planning Committee,
are working very hard to make this an exciting and informative
conference to help you grow your business in dancewear sales.
From meetings with manufacturing executives, to listening to retail
specific speakers, to the informal discussions on what works in
our individual stores, everything is being designed to help you
lead.
If you have any subjects you would like to talk about; any ideas
you would like to share with your fellow DAC members, let us,
your Executive, know and we will see how they can be added to
the program.

To Our Valued Bloch and Mirella Customers;
RE: U.S Online & Catalogue Retailers
While we broached this subject at the DAC Conference in Montreal in November, and our reps
have been speaking with many of you individually, we want to send a formal letter to all Bloch
and Mirella customers regarding Bloch Inc’s position in leading the fight against U.S online and
catalogue retailers and their practice of cross-border shipping.
In September of 2012, Bloch Inc was the first U.S distributor to issue a new policy to all of its retailers
that placed restrictions on sales, purchases and assignment of all Bloch and Mirella goods in the
United States. One major component of this policy was that Dealers opened in the United States
are customers of Bloch Inc and are limited to sales and deliveries within the United States only. To
this end, you will notice that many of the online and catalogue retailers have stopped shipping
Bloch and Mirella products into Canada. This policy has been adhered to by many online and
catalogue retailers since the end of December 2012. Those retailers who have not yet ceased
cross-border shipping are mandated to do so no later than March 15 th, 2013.
We believe that this policy, along with Bloch’s Manufacturer’s Approved Pricing (MAP) Policy,
which stipulates advertised pricing of any Bloch and Mirella product in the US, will continue to
benefit our Bloch and Mirella dance business in Canada. We have already received feedback
from Canadian retailers noting that they have had studios contact them to buy Bloch product
that they are now unable to get through Discount Dance or any other online retailers in the US.
We appreciate your patience with Bloch and Mirella while we spearhead this beneficial
undertaking, and we appreciate your continued support of our brands in the Canadian
marketplace.

discussion groups to help increase customer loyalty.

6. Promote local shopping and thank customers for
shopping locally
7. Take pictures of students with new shoes

All members were welcomed to the 26th Annual meeting
by the president, who continued to say that this meeting
has the biggest attendance ever.
The executive then introduced themselves to all
members.
The official opening was changed to today so that the
manufacturers, who were busy setting up the trade show
on Friday could attend.

The site had 27,000 visits during September.
Retailers are urged to link to this page with their own web

Income from the banner add’s has allowed us to do the
necessary improvements.
The eligibility for membership was also clarified.

To attract new members, it is proposed that we add to
the web site an article explaining why we should be a
member of DAC
Presentation will be limited to 20 min. and take place
between 8.00am and 9.00am (not all manufacturers will
do this) It will be posted on the agenda, provided the
information gets to Amber before printing.
Retailers Split Session Summary
Transhipping is still a problem in some locations,
and members are reminded that this is against DAC
guidelines.
Retailers would also prefer a 2 day Tradeshow
Key Speaker. It is suggested that this could take place at
the cocktail party
Round Table Session. Proposed that we do this during
the lunch break.

DAC Group Emails
As a DAC member, you have the benefit of being in touch
with the extraordinary DAC community year-round using
the DAC Group Email addresses.
Using the DAC Group Emails is just like sending a regular
email. But your message will be forwarded to everyone in
the group.
There are two DAC Group Email addresses…
Emailing All DAC Members
For sending a message to all the DAC members, simply
send an email to:

Emailing DAC Retailers Only
For messages that contain information manufactures
may prefer you don’t share with other manufacturers, we
have a separate retailer-only group email address. As a
rule-of-thumb, use this address anytime you mention a
manufacturer brand or product:

Avoid Nuisance Reply Emails
When receiving group emails, if you want to contribute to
the discussion, press the REPLY button, and your message
will be sent to everyone on the list.
If your response is intended just for the sender, then avoid
adding to the mountain of emails we all already receive,
by replying only to the email address of the person who
sent the message.
