Once again it is my pleasure to announce the Virden Indoor Rodeo. Virden’s Indoor
Rodeo and Wild West Daze is one of our favourite stops of the season. With a beautiful
facility, great committee, Prime Time Rodeo stock and enthusiastic fans, it is the place
to be for everyone involved in rodeo. One of the things that impresses me the most is
the total involvement of the community. Its RODEO TIME and the town is alive. The race
is on for all our contestants to qualify for the MRCA and CCA finals rodeos. All the best
athletes are here. Buckle up and hang on, it could get wild.
RODEO CLOWN
LEE BELLOWS
Lee Bellows is a popular rodeo clown, barrel man and cowboy poet in the Canadian
Cowboy Association. He has a passion for rodeo and was dedicated to the sport at a
young age, working many events such as the Calgary Stampede and Canadian Western
Agribition. From Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Lee Bellows in now retired but worked as
a livestock inspector for the South Central district during the week, while he was not at
rodeos. In 2009 Bellows received a Gold Card from the CCA, a lifetime membership and
career achievement award, after nearly 50 years of being part of rodeos. Lee Bellows
has now slowed down his schedule but still tries to keep his routine original, keeping his
crowds entertained.

CASEY BROWN MEMORIAL
In honor of the late Casey Brown, an award plaque and a cash purse is up for grabs
to the team roping duo who betters the current arena record in the team roping
at the Virden Indoor Rodeo. The cash purse will grow in size each year the record
remains unbroken.
Casey Brown, the eldest son of Judy and Lyle Brown died suddenly in an automobile
accident in Hamiota, on May 1st, 2011, leaving a huge void in his family and the
horse world.
The Brown Family teamed up with Spark’s Oilfield and staff, Casey’s former
employer, to come up with the award.
Casey grew up in the rodeo circles, and eventually honed his skills enough to where
he was a regular on the rodeo trail for many years. Over the years Casey competed
in the Calf roping and team roping mainly and dabbled in the steer wrestling once
in a while. Casey mainly heeled throughout his rodeo career. Over the years Casey
shared success with many different partners, the most notables being his Dad Lyle,
who he started out with, as well as Mike Pernarowski and Kevin MaCannell were also partners that Casey travelled with and
qualified for the MRCA finals several times.
When the Bounty originally started the arena record was held by Casey’s younger brothers, Lonnie and Shane, with a time of
4.6 seconds set in 2007. In 2014 the bounty was collected for the first time. A time of 4.5 seconds set by Clint Weston and Tyler
Paicu was just fast enough for them to claim the new arena record and collect the bounty money! Now the bounty will start to
grow year after year until the record is broke again.

The Virden Indoor Rodeo and Wild West Daze is a tremendous
undertaking. Its continued success and growth over the past 26
years is in large part due to the hundreds of volunteers who have
given tirelessly of their time and talents over the years.
Many of these volunteers are carrying out duties related to
their occupations, people doing what they do best. However
many others have taken on roles for which their dedication and
enthusiasm is their greatest qualification.
Most of this work is done behind the scenes and isn’t at all
glamorous, and often down right hard work, but it is the people
filling these roles especially that are so vital to this weekend.
On this, the 27th Anniversary of the Virden Indoor Rodeo, we
salute the hundreds of volunteers who have contributed so
greatly to this event over the years.
