The Champions Club
The Next Era at The Club at La Costa has arrived! The Champions Club, offering indoor
and outdoor dining and panoramic views of the golf course, is the perfect spot to share
post-game stories, enjoy a meal with friends, watch the game, play some cards, or use one
of the available iPad’s to stay connected via the web. After a round of golf, park your golf
cart and walk up to the Champions Club patio for lunch or a post-game snack and drink.
Enjoy a special Member menu with some selections created exclusively for the Champions
Club! The Champions Club staff includes some familiar faces-each hand-selected to serve
you. Melissa Dupont, Member Concierge, is based in the Champions Club as well.

Tell us about your work
with Operation Smile: I’ve
been working with Operation
Smile since 1995, and have
done 10 trips so far with the
organization. We go to thirdworld countries and repair cleft
lips and palates for children. We also do Burn reconstruction
and Hand reconstruction on
children and adults. I have
worked in Russia, Romania,
India, Cambodia, Peru,
Guatemala, Nicaragua, West
Bank, and many smaller venues
with Operation Smile. On a
single trip, each surgeon will
generally repair at least 30 clefts Dr. Jim Yahr with Operation Smile
and other assorted cases. I have
also been on 10 trips to Mexico with other doctors, spent three months
in a hospital that treated leprosy in Taiwan, have accompanied
numerous other outreach groups to countries such as India, Moldova,
and Peru.
Favorite Area at the Club: Golf course (of course) and Edge Adult Pool.
Best Experience at the Club: I loved the Round Up, the Country
& Western party.
Dream Getaway: I have yet to visit Cuba.
Dream Foursome: Arnold Palmer, Jack Nickalus, Angelina Jolie,

Cabanas
This policy also applies to Cabana Rentals. Cabanas can
accommodate up to ten people—any combination of Members
and Accompanied Guests as outlined above.
Please note that Unaccompanied Guests are not permitted
at Edge Adult Pool--guests must be accompanied by a Member at
all times.
Cabanas at Edge Adult Pool will be available to reserve for
the day. A Cabana attendant will assist you with your poolside
needs, including cafe service, chilled towels, and more. Each
Cabana comes with a fresh fruit plate and 2 one-liter bottles of
chilled Evian water. For Cabana reservations, please call
1.800.854.5000, ext. 2 or stop by Diversions Sport Lounge.

Hiking Club
Tricia, your “trainer on the trail,” leads monthly
hikes on the third Saturday of every month
around greater San Diego. Join us for an active, scenic
adventure in La Costa’s own backyard! Explore a wide
variety of local trails, experience the great outdoors,
and get plenty of fresh air and sunshine.
Hikes usually last between 45 and 75 minutes and are
open to all levels of fitness. Watch the weekly Club

The New Kidtopia!

Junior Tennis Program The new Kidtopia is complete! The renovation includes a new Nursery for
infants (ages 6 months - 18 months) and a new play area for toddlers (ages
18 months - under 3 years). Also, enjoy a new Imagination Station Arts &
Crafts area for children ages 3 - 12.
Summer & Fall: Eight Week Sessions
June 18th - June 22nd | June 25th - June 29th
July 2nd - July 6th (4 days) | July 23rd - July 27th
These changes will allow Kidtopia to accommodate more infants and toddlers
(ages 6 months - Under Age 3, and children who are not bathroom
independent) at a time. Kidtopia care for infants (ages 6 months - 18
months) will be at a 2:1 ratio, and care for toddlers (ages 18 months - under 3
years) at a 3:1 ratio.

The New Kidtopia also features a six-passenger stroller for “On the

Armed with a top level USPTA teaching staff, La Costa Junior Tennis
incorporates a positive attitude toward each individual’s progress. The lessons
each student learns on the court will be important lessons applicable to their
future. We teach through example, by staying positive with our players
and having patience with their development.
New Kidtopia Reservation Policy
Members are invited to make their Kidtopia reservations up to one week in
advance by calling Kidtopia directly at 760.931.7543 starting at 7:30am.
Please note, there is a limit to the number of children (ages 6 months - Under Age 3,
and children who are not bathroom independent) Kidtopia can accept
at a time. Please contact Kidtopia to check availability.

Join us at La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club as we “battle it out” for the
second year in a row! 3.0 - 4.0 players welcome—open to the first six
men and women to sign up. Enjoy Round Robin Doubles, followed
by food and cocktails. Keep an eye on the Club email for more details.
Queen of the Court
King of the Court is a challenge court for those players looking
for a serious challenge. The first four players to show up play eight
games total; 4-4 games all players will play a 12 point tie-breaker
to determine the winner. Winners stay and are challenged by the
next two players. Sign up list will be provided in the Tennis Pro
Shop. Get out and play!

Queen of the Court is a women’s Doubles Round Robin that offers a
fun and competitive atmosphere. We need an even number of players,
so please reserve a spot with the Tennis Pro Shop and let the fun begin!

Committee chairman, David Oas, as well as Dan Rose, Dane Chapin and Ralph Rischman for all of their efforts in making this event a success.
