PUBLISHER’S NOTES
Synergy is the essence of principle-centered leadership. It is
the essence of principle-centered parenting. It catalyzes, unifies, and unleashes the greatest power within people. What is
synergy? Simply defined means that the whole is greater than
the sum of its parts.
The essence of synergy is to value differences, to respect them,
to build on strength, to compensate for weakness. Synergy is
energy of a group collectively agreeing to eliminate the old
script and to write a new one.
Value the difference in the essence of synergy: the mental, the
emotional, the psychological difference between people. And
the key to valuing those differences is to realize that all people
see the world, not as it is, but as they are.
The person who is truly effective has the humility and reverence to recognize his own perpetual limitations and to appreciate the rich resources available through interaction with the
hearts and minds of other human beings.
Synergy works, it’s a correct principle. It is the crowning
achievement of all previous habits. It is effectiveness in an interdependent reality-it is teamwork, team building, the development of unity and creativity with other human beings.
Synergy is collectively working together but at the same time
each party maintains their own identity. There should be more
positive synergy in the body of Christ. It doesn’t matter what
assignment God gives each of us: we are all placed in an interdependent position. If you are a gospel announcer brokering
your time you are looking for sponsors and advertisers to help
pay for your time. If you are a gospel artists you are interdependent on the gospel announcers to play your music. We live
in a world of SYNERGY, God has given each of us a dream.
It is up to us to put the correct pieces of the puzzle together
that will make our dream and vision a reality. Bottom line we
live in an interdependent world, in order to move to the next
level we have to position ourselves to maximize on our positive synergy. God Bless!

When God gave me the name for Gospel Synergy Magazine I really didn’t
know what it meant. Check out the
definition on page 4. I had no ideal what
I was getting into but here I am 12 years
after the fact. I have been able to over

have had my share of life’s ups and
downs but I keep pressing towards the

failure. But it can be done if you have
the money to out source what needs to
be done to have a successful event.
Actually this is where we have our biggest concern. We all want to make
money but we don’t have money to invest. And if we have money it takes a
good steward to put a budget that will
guarantee a return. That’s another position, there is power in synergy.
I have communicated with many artists
, authors, musicians and they are all
basically saying the same thing. All of
their money was invested in the production cost. They didn’t take into consideration to create a budget for advertisement, promotions and marketing.
This is when reality sets in you’ve been
through you family, friends and church
members. You done the events to do
an A&B selection and then you are trying to sale CD’s after the event. You’ve
been to the events where you pay to
be on a showcase. You’ve been to the
events as a vendor and ten years later
you still feel like you are still in the same
position.
I have been preaching the same message for a long time. I’ve had many conversation over the years of how we as
blacks should work together. And in
many cases we are but for some reason we are not making the same
progress. Why? I would say there are
many reason why trust, loyalty, and integrity are at the top of the list. Many
of us will have a dream or vision and
feel like we can make it happen on our
own. But how is that possible? A choir
director can not have a choir with out
people and a band? A minister can not
have a church without members.
But you still don’t have a plan and you
still don’t have the money to invest in

Many are finding that working on the
Internet has its benefits but many are
also finding that it takes more than advertising to the same network of friends.
Many of the people on your list are already supporting you. Now its time to
reach out beyond your comfort zone.
So you have to invest in email campaigns or use other services to generate friends and drive traffic to your site.
It takes a certain amount of time to work
online. Even in the case of having every
member on your staff working online.
You are not going to get 50,000 members to join you social network site by
yourself. There is power in synergy!
Many are finding out and I will include
myself in this equation. That the only way
to make it is to come out of our comfort zone. There is power in Synergy.
In closing I will say that the best move I

making the trasition I removed all limitations and restriction. GSM now has

“Then do it for me.”
“So I drug him up there,” she said, “and he was
just grumbling. I asked the pastor, ‘Will you just
pray for him?’”
“Don’t Give Up On Them!”
“He was just a stubborn old you-know-what.”
That’s what Allison said about her father-inlaw, Arnold Dean.
And guess what happened to Mr. Arnold Dean
there at the altar that beautiful Easter Sunday?
Well, apparently nothing.
“I’m gonna kill you,” he told Allison afterwards.
And when it came to church his attitude was,
“Just do your own thing and leave me out of
it.”
“He was embarrassed and irritated,” she said.
His wife begged him, and he actually did come
when she was baptized, but going to church
was something he had no interest in.
Have you ever done that with a loved one?
You thought it was just the right moment. “This
is the day! This is the time, I just know it!” And
then…nothing. They just get more irritated with
you than ever.
Now let me ask you, do you have a loved one
like this? They’re just not interested in God or
church or religion – and they certainly don’t
want to hear anything about Jesus or sin or
forgiveness.
Well here is the message for you today. Don’t
give up on them!
Now back to crusty old Arnold Dean. I said
“old,” but really he was only 51, and he wasn’t
all that crusty. His heart was just hard to the
things of God.
Then he got cancer. And that changed
everything, right?
Well, no. It didn’t.
Even after the radiation, even after losing his
hair, they still had to basically beg him just to
go to church on Easter Sunday.
So there he was, reluctant, but there. Allison
decided that she just had to get her father-inlaw down to the altar.
So she grabbed him and said, “Come up front
with me.”
“No, no, no, no,” he said.
Maybe you’re in that spot right now, that
“nothing zone” where you have tried and failed
and you almost feel like washing your hands of
them. “It’s between them and God now,” you
say to yourself. “I’ve done all I can do.”
Well here is the message for you today. Don’t
give up on them!
June rolled around and Arnold’s health was
getting worse. He was in the hospital and not
doing well.
One Monday Allison and a friend went to visit.
Her mother-in-law Barbara was there, and also
there to visit were the pastor and the pastor’s
brother.
At some point, as pastors always do when
making hospital visits, Pastor Brian said to
Arnold, “Well, can we pray for you?”
So they all stood around his bed and held hands.
It was nothing special, Allison said, just normal
praying.
whole life. I can’t do this anymore. I can’t do
this alone. Please, the rest is yours. If you’ll
just forgive me for what I’ve done until now,
you can have what’s left of it.”
He continued blurting out to God in broken
sentences, repenting in that humble, childlike
voice.
“It was thick in that room,” Allison said. “I
have never been in a room like that. The Spirit
was strong. It was a glorious and intense
moment. I can’t even explain it.”
The pastor said, “I’ve been around this stuff
since I was 15 years old, but I’ve never felt
anything like that.”
And from that moment on,Allison said,Arnold
Dean was a changed man.
“I thought he would just go through the
motions,” she said, “but it was complete. He
was surrendered.”
After that he prayed and he told others how
he just wanted to love God.
That was on June 15th, 2009.
This past Thursday Mr. Dean passed away.
“I’m so grateful for his salvation,”Allison said,
“and knowing where he’s at now.”
And what would Allison say to anyone who is
struggling with an unsaved loved one?
“There’s hope!” she said. “If he can change,
anybody can change.”
So if you have a lost loved one, and their heart
seems hard toward the things of God, and it
just seems like they will never come to the
Lord, well here is the message for you today.
Don’t give up on them!
“All of a sudden,” she said, “we heard this
childlike voice. I had to look around to see
who it was.”
“Please just come up there,” she said. She
was crying.
It was Mr.Arnold Dean – crying out to God.
“Allison, this is more for you than for me.”
“Jesus, Jesus. I’m sorry. I’ve ran from you my

Gospel jazz may be thought of as a
brand new form of music, but with all
things “there is nothing new under the
sun.” Gospel Jazz is as familiar as any
other form of musical expression. There
are many styles of music including Gospel and Jazz which are all borned out
of deep emotional experiences. Gospel Jazz has always been around but
not recognized as much. Blues, Gospel
and Jazz are all full of deep emotional
and individual improvisational styling
and personal stories imparted to audiences by the artists and a sense of connection with the listeners from who can

There are many Gospel Jazz Pioneers
who have contributed to this genre as a
legitimate form of music. Some well
known artists associated in the realm
of Gospel Jazz include artists such as
Ramsey Lewis, Aretha Franklin, Thomas Whitfield, The Clark Sisters, Daryl
Coley, Take 6, Ben Tankard, Yolanda
Adams, Allen & Allen, Kirk Whalum,
Jeff Majors, Kim Burrell, Charles
Earland and the list goes on. Many of
the artists mentioned are currently in
rotation and can be heard nightly on
Synergy1Radio as well as other programs during the day. Many of the artists have been nominated for the Gospel Stellar Award and Grammy’s and
have won. (See Page 11)
I believe God has an assignment, purpose and mission for everyone. Many
artists will start out singing or as a church
musician. Then stray away because they
may have the feeling that there music
wasn’t acceptable. In most cases they
will return because of life experiences.
God knows their hearts! Who knows
better how to minister to the lost in the
world of Jazz than those who speak the
language. God uses who he chooses. I
have sent emails to the gospel community to check out Synergy1Radio.
When I check my stats I see that some
of my shows have a worldwide listening audience. Which means that our
music is ministering to a non Christian
audience. What a Blessing!

Romans 5:15-17 (NLT) “But there is a great
difference between Adam’s sin and God’s
gracious gift. For the sin of this one man,Adam,
brought death to many. But even greater is
God’s wonderful grace and his gift of forgiveness to many through this other man, Jesus
Christ. And the result of God’s gracious gift is
very different from the result of that one man’s
sin. For Adam’s sin led to condemnation, but
God’s free gift leads to our being made right
with God, even though we are guilty of many sins. For the sin of this one
man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s
wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will
live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ.”
Hello Beautifuls,
Have you ever made a horrible mistake that couldn’t be undone? What
kind of attitude did you have? Were you sorrowful, trying to fix your
mistake or did you act like you didn’t care and just leave the mess as it
was?
I make mistakes all the time. I’m constantly worried that even day to day
I could be making mistakes that will cause my kids to need therapy later
in life. (Smile.) But as humans we will make mistakes in life. No one is
perfect. And when we do make mistakes, we must do our part to make
things right again, whatever that may be.
Sometimes we make mistakes; horrible sinful mistakes that make us
wonder if God would ever truly forgive us and keep us as His children.
The first way to make it right is to go to God and confess it to Him. We
must then ask for forgiveness. We also must do the work to never make
the mistake again which involves leaning on God’s strength to keep on
the path He has for us and denying ourselves of the sinful indulgence we
crave. If God leads us to confess to someone we sinned against, then we
must also do that. Otherwise, God doesn’t put our sins out in the open
when we are committed to not repeat the mistakes and are leaning wholly
on Him to be right in Him.
I recently read that someone was questioning whether God truly accepted
us as His children because we tend to mess up so much. The pastor they
asked gave this explanation: he has a dog that is well trained, loyal and
obedient. He also has a baby who makes a mess, has food all over him,
and tears things up every chance he gets. Who will take his legacy, the
dog or the baby? The answer is the baby.
God is invested in us, no matter how much we mess up, how many
mistakes we make, or how much chaos we cause. He loves us and
doesn’t want us to mess up but knows that we may just do that. In those
times He is still available to us to forgive and make the wrongs right.
Let the Vision Speak
By: Michael Bethune
www.michaelbethune.com
For the vision is yet for an appointed time,
but at the end it shall speak, and not lie:
though it tarry, wait for it; because it will
surely come, it will not tarry. Habakkuk
2:3
Sometime ago the Spirit of God spoke
vision into your being. You have absolutely
no doubt that it came directly from the heart
of God, yet despite several prayerful attempts to “lay hold of the
vision”, it appears that your labor has been in vain. As a result, doubt
and discouragement are now attempting to invade your spirit; their
job is to convince you that God has lied to you, and that your vision
was just some illusionary bi-product of an over-active imagination.
Now is the time that your faith must begin to fight! One of the ways
that it can begin to fight off doubt and discouragement is by reminding
yourself that the vision is for an “appointed time.” You see sometimes
we literally manufacture the doubt and discouragement by becoming
impatient with God and moving before the appointed time. Many of
us also manufacture doubt and discouragement in our own lives by
“speaking before the vision speaks.” What this means is that some
of us end up short-circuiting [or cutting off] the vision in our lives by
broadcasting it before it even happens. Then we end up getting
discouraged because we’ve already told people about what God
was doing in our lives, yet there’s no evidence of it because it was
not God’s appointed time for it to come to pass.
I have learned that sometimes it best to not tell anyone [except
maybe a sincere prayer partner] about the vision that God has spoken
in your life. That way, even if the vision takes a long time coming to
pass, there’s no need to be discouraged because God has promised
that eventually it will speak, and it will not lie.
Today, write the vision and make it plain - but remember to let the
vision speak for itself in your life. When you do, you’ll find that you
won’t have to say a word because when people see the vision come
to pass, then they’ll know exactly what God has been up to in your
life.
Be very sure not to speak before the vision speaks – but you can go
ahead and praise Him in advance because “it will surely come!” MB
Trust in the LORD today. Ask Him into your heart. Ask Him to show
you the way to His righteousness and commit yourself to stay in His

Competition vs Completion
First I would like to start by saying that
competition is healthy, that’s the way
of the world. We are all in some sort
of competition. I believe that we all have
God given dreams and visions. In the
current economy many companies and
individuals are putting a side competition and are finding ways to connect
there products and service. A good
example is the social network sites with
one click of your mouse you can connect Face Book, Twitter, and My
Space. Why? The answer is simple the
owners figured that they each have a
uniqueness and made the decision not
to compete when they could be working together provide a complete service.
That’s powerful! But for many of us in
the gospel music industry we would
rather stand alone instead of finding out
how we can pool our resources and collectively work together. For the past
three years I have seen a substantial
increase of more people in the gospel
community coming online. Especially
with the social network craze but it
seems to me that many come on to the
social networks with the same mind set
that they have offline. I receive many
request to attend events from all over
the country. I would suggest that the
invitation be directed to the local market with a side bar that if you are visiting the area to attend the event.
To me it seems that the same attitude
offline has carried over to working
online. The spirit of competition and
notices being sent to the same network
of friends therefore putting restrictions
and limitations on a product and service. Yes, I am seeing some artists who
are into competition but many stay with
in there circle of influence, which offers
a certain comfort.
I would also like to say that there are
many choices now available online.
With the right research its possible to
find a product service or business to
partner with. By doing this you will be
replacing the competition mind set with
the completion mind set. It is also important to be able to invest in your business especially when you are walking
into a deal.
disappointments that I have had in my
fifteen years of being in business. I am
believing that my assignment is not about
me instead its about the many struggling
artist. Who needs direction and information.
In the end its not about competition. In
the end its about completion. In the end
its about taking the risk to another step
of faith. Even if it means stepping out
I would also suggest not putting more side of your comfort zone. Working

Born in Brooklyn NY, of Panamanian

However, God taught him through that

Terrence Richburg
Walking In His Destiny
By: Andrea Williams
Terrence Richburg, nephew of the late jazz legend Ronnie
Wells and son of Wilhelmina & John Richburg, who
comprised Atlantic recording artists, The Richburg Singers,
is walking in his destiny. A well-known and amazingly gifted
musician, it seems that Richburg was born for music. He is
known in musical circles as a bassist’s bassist. Hailed by
GRAMMY, Dove & Stellar Award winning producer Steven
Ford as “one of gospel music’s best kept secrets,” Richburg
has played and ministered with household names including
Richard Smallwood & Vision, Maurette Brown Clark,
Bobby Lyle, Nick Colionne, Alyson Williams, Yolanda
Adams, Aretha Franklin, The Winans, Jennifer Holliday,
Tramaine Hawkins, Walter Hawkins, James Cleveland,
Shirley Caesar, and many others.
Featuring Richburg on a variety of instruments with a focus
on the 7-string bass and keyboards, the upcoming release is
to include guest artists and musicians such as John Stoddart,
Vanessa Williams, Amos Saint Jean, Mark Walker, Michael
Pugh, Ruth Naomi Floyd and Richburg’s brother, Dehrric.
In addition, he is slated to drop a second release in 2010
entitled Intimacy, an instrumental and vocal expression
focusing on intimate spiritual and human relationships.
Richburg will be releasing the book, “Intimacy” in tandem
with the CD project.
The upcoming releases truly epitomize the lessons Richburg
has learned. “Throughout my life God’s goodness and
faithfulness to me has always been there,” recalls the artist.
“And it’s only because of my relationship with Jesus Christ
that my life has meaning. I have learned to value relationships
above anything I might accomplish.”
For more information about Terrence Richburg, go to
www.TerrenceRichburg.com.
Getting his start in the music industry at the age of 13 as the
lead guitarist on the hit gospel program, Spread A Little
Sunshine, Richburg was surrounded by the best teachers,
most of whom included his family members. Since that time,
he’s sharpened his musical craft as a musician, minister of
music, producer, songwriter, arranger, and recording
engineer. He’s been called on as a musician/musical director
for such theatrical productions as “Lord, I’m Coming Home”,
“God’s Trombones”, “Dreamgirls”, “The Wiz” and “Ain’t
Misbehavin!” A master of the 7-string bass, Richburg has a
technique that’s been called “mesmerizing.”
Richburg is also label owner of RichEscape Music, a record
company which received a 2009 Stellar Award Nomination
for Terrell Hunt’s debut praise and worship masterpiece
Awesome. Also, on the label’s roster is inspirational jazz
duo, R&R, consisting of Richburg on bass guitar and Howard
Riley, Jr. on saxophone. One of his live performance highlights
is with his group, Terrence Richburg & The Experience,
where he plays more than one instrument simultaneously
pumping out original material as well as covers of popular
gospel songs. The vision of RichEscape Music is to
reintroduce the concept of developing and presenting their
artists in musical and spiritual excellence.
But what is certain to be one of Richburg’s greatest
accomplishments is the upcoming release of his debut solo
effort, My All. The release chronicles Richburg’s diverse
musical talents and career experiences to date, as heard in
the many stylistic flavors and genre settings he has explored
during his life’s journey.

A common question that I am asked studio.
Why the Poor Man’s Copyright
isn’t Enough
is, “Does the Poor Man’s Copyright
provide the author legal protection?”
The short answer to that question is
always, “No.” For those of you who
do not know, the Poor Man’s
Copyright means taking a created
work like your original song and
mailing it to yourself. It is commonly
believed that by mailing the work,
the US Postal Service will provide
an official date and prove ownership. However, in truth, it is really not
that simple. According to US Copyright Law, copyrights are granted
automatically the moment when the work is created. So, as it relates to
music, the moment the lyrics are written down on paper, the song is
recorded on any device or reduced to sheet music, that author has
copyrights. Therefore, you can save the postage in preparing your
work for the Poor Man’s Copyright. The next question is, “Why do I
need to register with the US Copyright Office?” To that question my
answer is, “Registration has its privileges.” Here are the top three
reasons why you should register your music with the US Copyright
Office.
1. It establishes a public record of your copyright claim to the work.
This should be a Work-For-Hire arrangement with you owning the
masters to the recording session. You can negotiate the best deal in
the world with your studio; however, when it’s all said and done, you
get what you pay for. Most studios will not release any audio files
until all debts have been paid in full. Therefore, make sure you are
financially able to pay all recording fees.
Your Contract: What You Need to Know
As an independent artist you enter into a variety contracts / agreements
for your services over the course of your career. You start off with the
managers contract. Then you pray for the recording contract. If you
are in high demand, you may need to retain a Booking Agent via
contract. The list goes on and on. Every move that you make as you
build your career in the music industry is governed by a contract. That
is why you need to know some contract rules of conduct.
Rule #1: Never sign a contract or agreement on the spot. No matter
how good the deal sounds, it can wait a reasonable amount of time for
you to read over the terms of the deal before agreeing to them.
Rule #2: Never sign a contract or agreement that you do not
understand. You are going to be held responsible for the terms of the

2. It gives you the right to file a copyright infringement law suit in court.
dollars per infringement. In the case of willful infringement the court
can increase the damages to $150,000.00 per infringement.
The bottom line is that filing your work with the US Copyright Office
will provide you with the tools you need to PROTECT and DEFEND
the work you have created. You never know when God will allow one
of your songs to earn a million dollars. Don’t you think that’s worth a
$45 investment? The articles provided by Angela Green, Esq. are for

Rule #4: If a service contract requires a large payment, never pay the
full amount up front. You should be able to make a reasonable down

These rules could go on from now to infinity because every contract /

Hampton Roads #1
Gospel Radio Station
Star 94.1 FM with
40,000 Watts
Gets Pushed to the AM
Dial with 5,000 Watts
By Shelia Belle
ESPN Radio Senior VP/Affiliate Sales
Sean Breen said, “We are extremely
pleased to continue our long-term
partnership with Max Media and
upgrade our position in the marketplace
to 94.1 on FM band. Max Media’s
passion to serve the sports fan on the
local and national level mirrors ESPN’s
company-wide vision.”
As for the new Star 1310 AM, it will
continue to be home of James Madison
University sports and Norfolk Admirals
hockey, and feature Contemporary
inspirational programming with
syndicated Yolanda Adams in mornings,
however it will lose a large amount of
its audience, due to its reach and signal.
In My Opinion
Hampton Roads, VA – To the surprise,
shock and disappointment of Gospel
Music lovers in the Hampton Roads
area and beyond, the #1 Gospel radio
station in the area, Star 94.1 FM with
40,000 watts is getting pushed from
their FM home.
Taking its place will be Max Media’s
WGH-AM (ESPN Radio 1310)/
Norfolk, Virginia’s first all-sports radio
station. For Gospel Music lovers this is
a tragic move as the Urban AC WXEZFM (Star 94.1) will become “ESPN
Radio 94.1 FM,” effective October 5.
On the flip side, Star 94.1FM will
become “Star 1310 AM” with only
5,000 watts, far less than their 40kw
signal that can be heard from Virginia
Beach to Richmond, and from the
Eastern Shore to many parts of
northeast North Carolina.
Max Media Radio President Eric
Mastel says, “This was a great
opportunity for us to have the most
powerful ESPN FM station in Virginia.
We’re proud of our new multi-year
agreement that will keep ESPN Radio
with Max Media through 2012.”
This is happening all across the country! I have seen it happen in Chicago
more than once during the last 15 years.
We ask the question why? But truth be
told we know the answer... It takes
money to operate and maintain a radio
station. And this is where we fall short.
We have plenty of Christian owned
businesses who are members of
churches all across the country. But you
never hear them advertise there product and service in the radio.
Its not hard to figure it out the switch
was made because money is going to
be invested in advertisement and sponsors. This is just another way of cutting
the gospel industry out. Let me keep it
real it takes more than salvation to keep
a radio station going.
So until we begin to invest in more than
flyers, post cards and announcements
in the church bulletins. We are going to
continue to see these types of transitions taking place. As a Internet Radio
station owner I can see why these types
of decisions are made. Its time to make
a change... Its time to consider investing in adverting!

COULD THIS BE YOU?
Congratulations to all the artists and
behind-the-scenes experts who made
the 25th Stellar Awards First Ballot!
If I was blindfolded and asked to listen
to Hallelujah by Dr. Moses McNeil and
Company, I would swear I was hearing a
late 1970s vinyl recording on TK’s
Gospel Roots label. The mix of metallic
electronica, ‘70s sweet soul melodies and
even a dash of disco on Hallelujah makes
the album righteously retro.
The title of Elder Emmitt Nevels’ song
sounds like Yoda from Star Wars
professing his devotion, but it actually
works in the context and arrangement of
the lyrics. “Love You I” is a simple melodic
love song to the Savior. It’s fresh, modern,
crisp and electric, a blend of Christian pop
and contemporary gospel. Backed by
swirling breathy background vocalists and
an acoustic pulsing beat, Emmitt’s sugarsweet falsetto sells the performance.
Grace Community Christian Church is
touted as one of the fastest growing
churches in Atlanta and having one of the
top choirs in the region. Blessing Me is
an opportunity for the rest of the country
to check out the sounds emanating from
the Anointed Voices of Grace and the
angel of the house, Pastor Christopher
Chappell.
On “Free,” multi-instrumentalist,
composer and producer Elder Restine
Jackson and his group sing and rap about
the joy of having the shackles of sin
removed, all to a happy, chugging beat
that is urban with a dash of Caribbean.
Mr. Del, former member of the hardcore
- Germany
rap group Three 6Katja
Mafia,
has released
THRILLA, his third holy hip hop album
and the first to be distributed through
Universal Music Christian Group.

Creflo Dollar’s Arrow Records delivers
crisply produced, no-nonsense gospel
releases that cover the waterfront, from
the sophisticated hip hop of Canton Jones

Choir master and songwriter Malcolm
Williams returns to the recording scene with
the perfect follow-up to 2007’s Walking
In My Destiny. Now Williams, along with
Great Faith, are walking into the glory of
God on In Your Glory. The album,
featuring sixteen tracks and the churchy
radio smash “You Oughta Help,” easily
combines the rich traditional sounds of
Chicago gospel and the contemporary
gospel choir music of the 1990s. It’s a
record you are bound to enjoy for years
to come.

David Frazier, writer of the church
anthem “I Need You To Survive”,
releases his third anthology of music
entitled Psalms Hymns & Spiritual Songs
Volume III “Favor”.
David has written over 70 songs in the
gospel music genre. Songs like Second
Chance, “How Much We Can Bear”
and “Power Belongs to God” have
become church staples over the years.
These songs are a few of the twenty-six
songs David has written for the Grammy
winning Bishop Hezekiah Walker’s
Love Fellowship Choir.
The song “I Need You to Survive” has
been placed in all of the standard
hymnals, Baptist, Methodist and
Episcopal. Oprah Winfrey also was so
blessed by the song that it was added to
Oprah & Gayle’s Road-trip series of
shows in 2007.
David’s music is recognized worldwide
and has garnered him Stellar and Dove
Award nominations for “Song Of The
Year”. David has written songs for an
“A-List” of gospel artists, most notably
Bishop Hezekiah Walker’s Love
Fellowship Choir, Bishop T.D. Jakes,
Bishop Paul S. Morton, Bishop Albert
Jamison, Yolanda Adams, Karen ClarkSheard, Donald Malloy, Joe Pace & The
Colorado Mass Choir and Jonathan
Nelson.
And now his latest release, is sure to take
you even higher in the Lord!

We understand that The Turner
Brothers of Apopka, Florida, are
working on a new CD. Their CD and
DVD titled A Family That Prayers
Together Stays Together are still
popular among gospel quartet fans.
WLCN HD TV 18 is a new high
definition TV station owned by the Faith
Assembly of God. They specialize in
original programming. Currently they are
offering any touring group that perform
on their concert sound stage a high
quality DVD master absolutely free in

on TV. They will provide all sound,
lighting and multitrack recording. They
will even provide a live audience. The

September was another great month for
Gospel Quartet Music. One of the
largest programs in September was the
Spirit Fest in Greenville, SC. They had
some great gospel quartet groups on
the program. September was the official
release of CDs by Doc McKenzie &
The Hi-Lites, Darrell McFadden &
The Disciples and Chuck & The
Guiding Lights.
Bishop Fred A. Jones & The Jones
Family sang the National Anthem at the
Houston Astro’s game on Saturday,
September 5, 2009.
Second Chapter of Miami, Florida, has
a new CD titled A New Season. To
get your copy contact Stonewall
Jackson at 305-232-4428. Many will
remember this group from the nineties.
Their 1994 project, Feel The Spirit,
included the song “The Train.”
The Gospel Legends were added to
the 2009 Spirit Fest Concert. Other
gospel quartet groups that appeared
were Lee Williams & The Spiritual
QC’s, The Gospel Four, and The
Canton Spirituals. The concert was
held on Sunday, September 6, 2009,
at the Carolina First Center Greenville,
SC.
The Gospel Crusaders of Bellwood,
IL, new CD is titled He’s All I Need.
According to information from their
website the CD was released in
September. We have heard the CD and
it is outstanding. This is another project
produced by Ray Braswell, Jr. Ray has
really been busy. More and more artists
are finding just what they need at
Raymarkable Music. What we like
about Ray’s productions is that he
allows the artist to be themselves. So,
you do not get ‘sound a likes’.
Page 24
Meaning, none of the artists he works
with sounds like each other. Ray also
has a way of drawing the best out of
artists. Another producer that embodies
these characteristics is Eric Shaper of
Dream Reality Production.
By the way, The Dynamic Messengers
are working on their freshman CD. The
Anointed Mims Singers’ new CD is
now available from Low Rush Music.
Low Rush also recently released a CD
on the group called Salvation. The
Yancey Brothers of Newark,
Delaware, new CD is titled Get Your
Praise On. Their remake of
“Nobody’s Child” is sure to get a lot
of attention. The New Pearly Gates
of Suffolk, VA, CD titled Walking The
Path is outstanding.
August was an exciting month for
Gospel Quartet music. The new CD by
Doc McKenzie & The Hi-Lites was
released at a concert in Olanta, SC, on
August 8, 2009. Darrell McFadden &
The Disciples’ new CD is was also
scheduld to be released in August at a
concert in Columbia, SC. The group’s
special guest for this release concert
was The Fantastic Violinaires.
