Eighth Annual Lights Out Gala Raises Over $100,000 For
Loggerhead Marinelife Center
Event Celebrates The
Beginning Of Sea Turtle
Nesting Season
Loggerhead Marinelife Center’s (LMC) premiere
fundraiser, the Eighth Annual Lights Out Gala, was held on
Jan. 30 at the center, overlooking one of the most densely
nested and bio-diverse sea turtle beaches in the world. The
event raised over $100,000 for the nonprofit, which will fund
its vital work in sea turtle education, research, rehabilitation
and ocean conservation. The event is held every year to
celebrate the start of sea turtle nesting season, when residents
along the ocean are asked to dim their bright lights to protect
nesting sea turtles and hatchlings.
The 2015 gala, themed An Enchanted Evening Under the
Sea, welcomed a sold-out crowd of over 300 of the center’s
supporters. Guests enjoyed creative cocktails alongside the
center’s adorable sea turtle patients in the Florida Power &

Jupiter Medical Center announced recently it received a $15 million donation, the
largest one-time donation in the Medical Center’s history, to develop pediatric services at
Jupiter Medical Center in partnership with Miami Children’s Hospital, soon to be renamed
Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. The first phase of the project is a 12-bed inpatient pediatric
unit at Jupiter Medical Center.
“As part of our strategy to continue to meet the growing healthcare needs in Palm Beach
County, we’re excited to expand the pediatric services offered to our community,” said Jupiter
Medical Center’s President and Chief Executive Officer John D. Couris. “This generous

“Our Eighth Annual Lights Gala was LMC’s most
successful gala to date,” said Jack Lighton, LMC president

our 240,000 guests admission – we are a free, cultural facility
– so we rely on the monies raised at our events to provide
free educational access to guests and lifesaving care for sea
turtle patients,” he added.
After cocktails, guests moved into the gorgeous gala
structure to enjoy the enchanted evening under the sea.
Replica sea turtles and jellyfish graced the room, as well as

The inpatient pediatric unit at Jupiter Medical Center will
include:
• 12 inpatient pediatric rooms
• a pediatric operating suite
• a children’s playroom
• a Bear’s den room for rest and respite (named after Jack
“The Golden Bear” Nicklaus)
More than a year ago, Miami Children’s Hospital and
Jupiter Medical Center partnered to enhance pediatrics in
North Palm Beach County. Since then, Jupiter Medical
Center has implemented telehealth technology, enabling
Miami Children’s Hospital physicians to interact with Jupiter
Medical Center’s physicians and patients remotely to consult
on a patient’s care in real time while the patient is in the
Medical Center’s Emergency Department. Additionally,
Jupiter Medical Center has two pediatric ER physicians
in place during peak hours, and also offers pediatric MRI
services in collaboration with Miami Children’s Hospital.
“This expansion of our work with Jupiter Medical Center
builds on the vision we share with the Nicklaus Children’s
Health Care Foundation to provide access to specialized care
for children,” stated Dr. Narendra Kini, president and chief
executive officer of Miami Children’s Health System.
The inpatient pediatric unit will be located on the same
floor as the newly opened Florence A. De George Children’s
and Women’s Services obstetrics unit, and will be operational
by the end of this year.
“Offering children the best opportunity for a healthy
life has always been a passion for my family,” said Larry
De George of the Lawrence J. and Florence A. De George
Charitable Trust. “It’s such a wonderful synergy to put the
knowledge and passion of these two hospitals together with
our charitable trust and the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care
Foundation for the enhancement of children’s lives, and we
couldn’t be more thrilled to be a part of it.”
“We have long said that there is no greater calling than
helping children in need of medical care, and at the same
time positively impacting the lives of those families who so
dearly love these children,” golf icon Jack Nicklaus and his
wife Barbara said in a shared statement. “It is even more
gratifying that this helping hand can be extended to children
in our own backyard, so we are thrilled to make this donation
to expand pediatric services in Palm Beach County.”
About The Lawrence J. And Florence A. De George
Charitable Trust
The mission of the Lawrence J. and Florence A. De
George Charitable Trust is to support seriously ill and atrisk children. The legacy of Larry and Florence De George
includes two Florence De George Boys and Girls Clubs in

Heart Association’s research on fetal heart development; and
the Kravis Center’s De George Academy for Performing Arts
heralded as a shining star for economically-disadvantaged
students. In June 2015 the i-Ready program of mathematics
and reading will be implemented at the Boys and Girls Clubs
of Broward County. This five year remedial program focuses
on raising mathematics and reading proficiencies for students
in grades 1-6.

We Are Growing!
Lots of love was expressed on Valentine’s Day as donors
and coordinators from the Jupiter/Tequesta area worked
together to gather items needed for our community pantries
that are in dire need of help. The Palm Beach County Food
Project is growing with every new pick up. This occurs on
the second Saturday of every even month (six times a year).
Our goal is to help pantries receive a steady supply of food
all year round so that not one hungry person has to be turned
away because the pantry has run out of food. (Over 200,000
individuals in Palm Beach County do not know where their
next meal will come from and, of that number, over 60,000
are children.)
Our Valentine’s Day collection yielded 4,770 pounds of
nonperishable food items. Adults and student volunteers
worked together side by side unpacking green bags and
loading boxes that were put on a truck to be distributed to
local pantries in our county.
If you would like to become part of this very worthwhile
project either as a donor or a coordinator, who would sign
up 15 of your neighbors as donors, please contact Erich
Zlanabitnig at (561) 252-3555 or Kay Heisler at (561)

many more coordinators throughout the Jupiter/Tequesta

In addition to the heated competition guests will enjoy a
delectable cocktail hour featuring signature hors d’oeuvres
from each of the participating clubs and a silent auction. The

on their favorite chef!
The Country Club Chef Showdown would not be possible

Prevent Measles Outbreak And Get Children Vaccinated
Unfortunately, measles cases have been on the rise. A
recent outbreak that began at Disneyland in California has
grown to more than 120 people across 17 states according
to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The measles virus is one of the most contagious viruses.
The respiratory disease spreads easily through the air or
on infected surfaces and causes a rash, high fever, cough,
runny nose and red watery eyes. People who are infected
with measles can spread the virus up to four days before
they even develop symptoms. In rare cases it can cause
encephalitis that can lead to deafness or mental retardation.
Of every 1,000 people who get measles, one to two will die.
“Measles is an almost 100 percent preventable disease,”
said pediatrician Alexandria Niewiadomski-Ayala, M.D.
of Children’s Physicians in Jupiter. “The measles vaccine
(MMR) is the single best way to prevent the spread of the
disease and to protect your child.”
The American Academy of Pediatrics, the Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention, and the American Academy
of Family Physicians all recommend children receive the
measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine at age 12-15
months, and again at 4-6 years. High immunization rates in
a community will protect those who cannot be vaccinated,
including infants under 12 months of age. These infants
are at the highest risk of serious illness, hospitalization and
death due to measles.
“While it is best to get the vaccine as soon as your child
reaches the recommended age, it is never too late to get your
child caught up so they can receive the vaccine and be fully
protected,” explains Dr. Niewiadomski-Ayala. “Parents
with questions about measles or vaccinations should contact
their pediatrician.”

and nurse practitioners providing comprehensive medical
care to infants, children and adolescents located at 270

Palm Beach Garden Medical Center’s Cardiac Rehabilitation
Program Strives To Improve Patients’ Quality Of Life
Think you’re too old for cardiac rehabilitation? Think
cardiac rehabilitation is only for men who have had a heart
attack? Think again. Men and women of all ages and ethnic
backgrounds can improve their overall health with cardiac
rehabilitation if they have had a heart attack, coronary artery
bypass surgery, angioplasty and stents, peripheral arterial
disease, cardiomyopathy, coronary artery disease, heart
valve repair or replacement, heart or lung transplant, certain
congenital heart diseases, chest pain or heart failure.
Cardiac rehabilitation is a customized, medically
supervised program designed to improve the health and
well-being of people who have experienced heart problems.
It can help you recover after a heart attack, prevent hospital
stays and heart problems in the future, deal with risk factors
that can cause coronary heart disease, start living a healthier
lifestyle, and improve your quality of life. Ultimately, cardiac
rehabilitation can increase your chances of survival and
reduce your risk of dying from heart problems.
The award-winning Heart Institute at Palm Beach Gardens
Medical Center is proud to have a cardiac rehabilitation
program that allows for continuity of care. The goal of the
program is to stabilize, slow or even reverse the progression
of cardiovascular disease by addressing the patient’s
physical, mental and social functioning through exercise,
nutrition, behavior modification, counseling and education.
The Heart Institute at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center
has received numerous awards and recognition for its cardiac
care from reputable organizations such as Healthgrades, The
Joint Commission and the American Heart Association.
Cardiac patients may begin the 12-week outpatient
rehabilitation program as soon as one week after discharge.
The program consists of three, one-hour sessions per week.
The rehab center is supervised by registered nurses with
strong cardiac clinical skills, and patients are monitored
before, during and after exercise. A doctor referral is required
for participation.
Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center’s rehab program
consists of four main components:
• A medical evaluation is conducted when the program
starts to assess your physical abilities, medical limitations and
other conditions. Your progress will be tracked throughout
rehabilitation to customize the program to meet your
individual needs and ensure your safety.
• Physical activities such as walking or biking help
improve cardiovascular fitness, while resistance training with
weights is used to stretch and condition muscles. Don’t worry
if you haven’t been active before. Exercises are introduced
at a comfortable pace and you will be taught proper form
and techniques.
• Lifestyle education involves following a healthy eating
plan by learning how to plan meals that meet your caloric
needs. Your cardiac rehabilitation team also works with you
to control risk factors for heart problems, such as obesity,
high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes and smoking.
• Counseling is available to help you reduce stress by
managing situations that could cause anxiety or depression.
Cardiac rehabilitation is recommended by both the
American Heart Association and American College of
Cardiology. Even after your cardiac rehabilitation program
ends, you will need to continue to follow the diet and exercise
routine you have established to maintain the heart-healthy
benefits. Making this long-term commitment will help you
return to a normal schedule and rebuild your life. For more
information about cardiac rehabilitation, talk with your
doctor or visit the American College of Cardiology Web site
at: www.cardiosmart.org.

Center’s nationally accredited pulmonary and cardiac rehab,

Commissioner’s Update
CareerSource Palm Beach
County Is Available To Assist
Employers And Job Seekers
By Commissioner
Hal R. Valeche
Last year was a banner
year for employment in
Palm Beach County. There
were more employed county
residents than ever before
and the unemployment rate
dropped to 4.8 percent, the
lowest since 2007. Job growth
in Palm Beach County can be
attributed to rising personal
income, sales tax revenues, home construction, home prices
and record tourism levels. Palm Beach County gained 13,900
jobs with most of the employment growth in education/
health services; professional/business services; construction
and leisure/hospitality industries. Low employment and job
growth is a signal that businesses are more confident about
the economy and are hiring.
CareerSource Palm Beach County is a local agency
chartered by the state of Florida to develop and retain a
high quality workforce system in Palm Beach County.
On average, 11,000 people are helped each month by the
specialized services offered at the two career centers located
in West Palm Beach and Belle Glade. Services for career
seekers include classes and facilities to search for jobs;
career development/counseling; grants for those who qualify;
employer recruiting on site and use of computers, copiers
and fax machines. There is no cost to career seekers for these
services. Employers are also provided with recruitment and
referrals of qualified candidates; space and staff assistance
for interviewing candidates; financial incentives for hiring
and training new and current employees. Most of these
services are provided at no cost to employers.
U.S. military veterans receive priority service from
CareerSource. The agency was recently recognized by the
Call of Duty Endowment with a Seal of Distinction Award
and a $30,000 grant. The grant will be used to expand and
enhance services to veterans. Staff can assist with developing
a career plan; writing a marketable résumé; preparing for
a successful interview and finding training programs and
classes.
Young adults, aged 17-21, who are not working or
attending school can participate in the work readiness
program that helps develop leadership and work maturity
skills; explore career pathways and receive money
management training. Program participants can earn over
$900 during a five-week program.
CareerSource also has a program that focuses on prisoner
re-entry. Prisoner re-entry is the process of leaving prison and
returning to society. More people are leaving prisons across
the country to return to their families and communities than
at any other time in our nation’s history. Florida continues
to house one of America’s largest prison populations. More
than 34,000 people return to their communities each year
with more than 1,200 of those coming to Palm Beach County.
Experience shows that approximately one-third of prisoners
released from prison will return to prison within three years.
Continued prison inmate growth creates an unprecedented
challenge to local communities who must absorb these
individuals upon their return.
Palm Beach County supports efforts to restore rights
to felons and to provide resources to ensure successful reentry into the regular workforce. CareerSource provides
assistance to convicted felons in obtaining employment
through a federal program that provides employers with bond
insurance. The Federal Bonding Program is an incentive
program that allows employers to hire at-risk applicants
with limited liability to their business. A Federal Fidelity
Bond insures the employer for theft, forgery, larceny or
embezzlement by the bonded employee. This service plays an
important role in reducing recidivism for these individuals. If
the re-entry process is successful, there are benefits in terms
of improved public safety and the long-term reintegration of
the former prisoner. Successful re-entry produces benefits for
individual prisoners, their families and the communities in
which they live.
For more information about any of these programs, contact
CareerSource Palm Beach County at www.careersourcepbc.

Hidden Heroes
By Marcia Dowd
Dear Readers:
My desire to bring to light
“Hidden Heroes” among us
has turned into a journey
with one encounter leading
to another. Last month’s
hero’s life was changed when
she was inspired by a speaker
from the Renewal Coalition
which led me to find out
about the organization and
the many volunteers behind it.
The story begins in 2003: Sara and Sandy Lankler,
the Founders of Renewal Coalition, met in Dr. Maureen
Sullivan’s chiropractic office in Tequesta. As Sara and Sandy
have said: “They were both out of balance.” Maureen was
a friend to both Sara and Sandy. Knowing that Sandy’s
previous wife had died six months earlier and Sara’s previous
husband had died three years earlier, Maureen decided that
they should meet! 18 days later they married!
2008: Although the Lanklers had plans to donate
some of their property in Buckeystown, Md. to a charity,

they had not decided on which
organization until they read
about the number of wounded
warriors and family members at
Walter Reed Military Hospital.
The more they studied the
wounded warrior situation the
more they became committed to
offering assistance to the service
members and their families. The
focus of their mission focused
on the family-quality time to
reconnect and bond. There are
over 500,000 wounded warrior
charities; however, the Lanklers
observed that many of these
charities offered experiences
and events for just the wounded
warrior. The Lanklers believed
the whole family needed time
together, time to bond, time to
adjust, time to get away, and
time to be acknowledged by a
community that respects them.
Their restaurant, motel and
conference space served as a
perfect location away from the
hospital. The time allotted with
the families was short and intense
because – the service members
were only allowed the weekend away from the hospital
grounds. These visits were emotional as they were the first
time the families had been together. All aspects of the weekend
were free. The Wounded Warriors had one “job” – begin the
process of reconnecting!
In 2008 Sara and Sandy and an old friend began spending
more time in Florida and decided to shift the organization
to there. In 2009, they contacted Mary Hinton, a past
Jupiter mayor and friend, to serve as director of the Florida
organization. The distance to Florida permitted offering
weeklong retreats and there were better facilities, warmer
yearlong weather, more family bonding activities, larger and
more private homes, and a community that was incredibly
available to participate in welcoming and catering to our
military families.
The families stay in private homes along the Loxahatchee
River and in private condos on the ocean (all owned by
the Lanklers). All meals are prepared for them, and all
activities are sponsored by our local community. The family’s
expectation is to spend quality time reconnecting and bonding
with other similar families. In June of 2009, five families,
who were referred from the amputee clinic, arrived from
Walter Reed Military Hospital and the process began.
In 2010 the Lanklers changed the name of the organization
from A Wounded Warriors Second Chance to Renewal
Coalition. They observed that too much emphasis was
placed on being “wounded.” The point of their organization
is to offer a partnership (a coalition) that will assist, in the
renewal process. In 2010 the organization became a 501(c)
(3) organization with Mary Hinton as the director.
The organization continues to grow in number of retreats
per year (from four to now eight) and in selection of family
activities and in the partnering with sister organizations
that support our service members. One such organization
is CAMO. CAMO trains service dogs. CAMO has trained
six dogs which we have been given to six service members.
These dogs have changed the young men’s lives.
In 2014 to more fully utilize the properties for charitable
purposes, the Renewal Coalition hosted two luncheons for
WW2, Korean and Vietnam veterans who are living in a VA
nursing facility. The goal for this 2015 year is to add more
luncheons and to host 10 retreats – two retreats will be added
that focus on women veterans.
The vision for the Renewal Coalition may have been
sparked by the Lanklers but it is the director and the 100
community volunteers and local charities that have nurtured,
cared for and supported the mission to give attention and
respect to our military families and local charities who
have given so much. Renewal Coalition salutes our service
members and we salute the coalition and its many volunteers!

Hearing Solutions
Hearing Loss And
Comprehension A Major
Concern In Young And Old
By Murray Steinfeld, Board
Certified Audioprosthologist
When any sense such
as smell, taste, sight, touch
and hearing is altered the
brain reorganizes and adjusts
accordingly. In the case of the
hearing impaired, research
has determined that the gray
matter density of the brain,
specifically in the auditory
area, was lower in people with decreased hearing ability,
suggesting a link between brain volume and one’s hearing
ability.
Research at the University of Pennsylvania shows that
decline in hearing ability may accelerate gray matter atrophy
in the auditory areas of the brain. It then becomes necessary
to increase an individual’s effort when listening, for them to
successfully comprehend speech.
The studies demonstrated that the people with hearing
loss showed less brain activity on functional MRI scans
when listening to complex sentences. It also notes that
people with poorer hearing had less gray matter in their
auditory cortex, which suggests that the area of the brain
that does the auditory processing, shows accelerated atrophy
as hearing ability declines. The evaluations measuring the
brain’s response to complex sentences and the cortical brain
volume in the auditory cortex was measured in varied age
groups. The oldest of these groups being adults ages 60 to
77 years. Yet, the study notes that the finding surely applies
to younger adults as well especially those listening to loud
music at louder than safe levels and using ear buds in their
ears.
There is little question, the research reveals that a person’s
hearing capability has severe consequences for the damage
done to the cortex of the brain as regards both perception
and cognition. The researchers noted, “Your hearing ability
directly effects how the brain processes sounds, including
speech.” “Preserving your hearing not only protects your
ears but also helps your brain perform at its best.” The
researchers strongly suggested that anyone experiencing
speech comprehension concerns that may be pointed out by
family, friends or even work associates, should consult with
their audioprosthologist, audiologist or hearing specialist in
order to clarify if they are experiencing any difficulty in their
ability to hear normally, with ease, or understand speech.
They note it will never get better on its own and will only
continue to worsen if not attended to early on.
The study and research appears in the Journal of
Neuroscience and was supported by the National Institute
of Health.

Top 3 Reasons To Volunteer At TurtleFest 2015
According To Three
Loggerhead Marinelife Center
Volunteers
It is the 12th anniversary of Loggerhead Marinelife
Center’s (LMC) largest annual event, TurtleFest, which
means the center will need more volunteers than ever to
staff this year’s festival. TurtleFest 2015 will be held on
Saturday, March 28 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Loggerhead
Marinelife Center and the surrounding Loggerhead Park in
Juno Beach. The rain date will be Sunday, March 29, in the
event of severe weather.
The free admission festival is expected to draw over
10,000 people to celebrate and appreciate ocean conservation
throughout the day. Since the event is so large, it requires
many hardworking and dedicated volunteers for the day.
According to past TurtleFest volunteers, these are the top
three reasons to volunteer at this fun festival.
1. The People
According to Irene McIsaac, LMC volunteer of over four
years, the people are one of the top reasons to volunteer at
TurtleFest. With over 10,000 people visiting the center at
TurtleFest, Irene enjoys working the festival. “People are
exciting,” said Irene. She has worked TurtleFest for four
years and is planning on working this year as well. “You’re
able to meet so many different people from all over the world
at TurtleFest – I absolutely love the people,” she added.
TurtleFest presents a wonderful opportunity to meet people
who are passionate about sea turtle and ocean conservation.
2. Opportunity To Educate
Evie Tibett has been working in the arts and crafts section
of TurtleFest for four years. Her favorite reason to volunteer
at TurtleFest is the opportunity to educate people on the
importance of ocean and sea turtle conservation. “TurtleFest
is a great family event,” said Evie. She has been working at
LMC for nearly six years as an education docent in the turtle
yard. “I am so excited to volunteer at TurtleFest again this
year,” she added. There are multiple areas that volunteers can
work for the day including: hospitality, logistics, parking, the
turtle yard, food and beverage and more. All of these roles
offer volunteers the ability to educate the public on what
Loggerhead Marinelife Center does on a daily basis.
3. Support A Local Nonprofit
Working TurtleFest allows volunteers to be an official
Loggerhead Marinelife Center ambassador. Howard Sydney,
who has volunteered at LMC for over a year, says the top
reason to volunteer at TurtleFest is the “ability to support
a local nonprofit and the community.” In order to create a
successful festival, the center needs enthusiastic volunteers
to make a memorable and fun experience for visitors.
“TurtleFest is a great way to get the message out about what
LMC does for the community,” said Howard. He volunteered
TurtleFest 2014 volunteers: Vanessa Meuir, Sam Thomas
for TurtleFest last year and is planning on working it again.
“Last year, I was able to educate the public on Kemp’s ridley
sea turtles. It was such a rewarding experience,” he added.
TurtleFest volunteers will receive a meal and T-shirt.
Volunteers can choose a four-and-a-half-hour shift in the
morning or afternoon. If you’re interested in volunteering,
please fill out an online application at www.marinelife.org/
turtlefest or e-mail: [email protected]. LMC is also
looking for artists to exhibit at the festival and vendors to
sell eco-friendly, marine-themed merchandise.
Visit www.marinelife.org/turtlefest or e-mail turtlefest@
marinelife.org to participate as a vendor in TurtleFest 2015.
Elin Nordegren Named Inaugural Harris L. Weinstein
‘Hero Of Hope’ At Hope Bash
Place of Hope will introduce a new element to its annual
Hope Bash (Palm Beach Gardens) this year, in naming
local philanthropist and child advocate Elin Nordegren as
its inaugural Harris L. Weinstein “Hero of Hope” for her
dedicated support of children in need.
Along with her close friend, Nicole Henry, Nordegren
served as co-chair of the 2013 Hope Bash, “Jeans & Jewels:
Palm Beach Nights.” An international figure, Nordegren
agreed to volunteer and co-chair after being introduced to
Place of Hope through Henry.
“My friends volunteered for mentoring programs at Place
of Hope; and, as I listened to their incredible experiences, I
became more and more intrigued about also being involved,”
she said. “I have been interested in child psychology for
most of my life, and when I learned Place of Hope focuses
on the psychological well-being of foster children, I felt this
organization was a very good fit for me.”
Nordegren was honored at the 2015 Hope Bash, which
had the theme of “Angels of Hope,” and was held Feb. 20
at PGA National Resort & Spa. Co-chaired by Sue Ende of
Palm Beach Gardens and Jill Fried of Juno Beach, the event
featured a live and silent
auction, dinner and dancing,
and a special donation of
artwork for auction from
Chisolm Art Studio/Gallery
of West Palm Beach. The
artwork, valued at $15,000,
is titled, “Layers in Time,” a
pastel spring, acrylic paint,
plastic and epoxy on canvas,
and was displayed at the
Hope Bash Pre-Party on Feb.

Police Foundation:
Investing In The Safety Of Our
Community And Of Our Police
Officers
By Tom Murphy
Once again the Police
Foundation is pleased to
reaffirm its commitment to
supporting higher education
in Palm Beach Gardens by
renewing our very popular
community
outreach
scholarship program. As
we have done in past years,
the foundation will be awarding two $1,500 scholarships to
individuals who are seeking, and have been accepted into
an undergraduate, graduate or technical studies program
at an accredited post-secondary educational institution.
Applicants must be either a resident of the city of Palm
Beach Gardens or employed by, or be the dependent of a
person currently employed by the Palm Beach Gardens
Police Department. The awarded funds must be used for
tuition or educational institution fees.
Each year the scholarship applicants are asked to
submit a 500-word essay as part of their package on a topic
selected by the foundation. The essay is an opportunity for
the individual to convey their motivation and personal
characteristics to the Scholarship Committee. This year’s
essay topic is “Recount an incident or time when you
experienced failure. How did it affect you and what lessons
did you learn?” Further information and the application
package can be found on the foundation Web site at
www.pbgpf.org/scholarships. We are looking forward
to receiving numerous applications again this year. The
deadline for submission is April 15.
Police Department, Officer
Pierre Etienne. Etienne
joined the department at
a
swearing-in-ceremony
on Feb. 10 officiated by
City Clerk Patricia Snider.
Etienne is a graduate of
the Police Academy and a
former Police Explorer with
the West Palm Beach Police
Department. In attendance
at the ceremony was his
mom as well as his two mentors, officers from the West
Palm Beach Police Department. Chief Stepp offered words
of inspiration to Etienne and highlighted the important
role that police officers play in the community. Welcome
aboard Officer Etienne!
Once again the Police Foundation thanks the residents
and business owners in the city for their ongoing financial
support. The funds raised throughout the year allow us to
invest in equipment, training, technology and officer
safety. We are currently in the process of funding critical
incident ballistic vests for our officers. These vests allow
officers to rapidly “armor-up” with increased protection
when addressing the potential threat of rifle or high
powered firearms typically encountered in an active shooter
response where things can go from ordinary to surreal in
milliseconds. Corporate sponsors can make a significant
contribution toward helping us achieve our funding goal
and are encouraged to contact the foundation at (561) 7994440. Individuals can also donate easily and quickly by
going to our Web site at www.pbgpf.org/donate.
As mentioned in an earlier article, the Police Foundation
will be funding a pilot study to help the department evaluate
the use of body-worn cameras by our police officers.
There are many issues to be addressed and policies and
protocols to be written. The foundation believes that bodyworn cameras will prove to be a valuable tool for both law
enforcement and the local community and we are pleased to
be funding this important study.
Remember, it takes a community effort to keep us
safe. For more information on the Palm Beach Gardens
Police Foundation or to make a donation, visit our Web
site at http://www.pbgpf.org or call the foundation office at
(561) 799-4440.
Tom Murphy has been president of the Palm Beach
Gardens Police Foundation Inc. since its inception in 2007.
Before helping to form the foundation he was a marketing
executive with the IBM Corporation and earlier a member
of the Nassau County (N.Y.) Police Department.
It’s The Law!
Did You Know That,
In Florida…
By Adam S. Gumson, Esq.
A trust agreement refers
to the relationship between
the person who transfers an
asset (or something of value)
to an entity (“the trust”),
which trust is then managed
by a trustee, who controls
the assets for the benefit of a
beneficiary.
During and after a
divorce, both parents are
encouraged and required to cooperate with each other in
agreeing to a parenting plan which, among other things,
set forth a specific timesharing schedule so that each parent
knows which days, nights and holidays are to be spent with
the child/children. However, if the parents cannot agree
upon a schedule, the court will issue its own schedule setting
the days and time for each parent to visit with the children.
There are a variety of different schedules depending upon
how close the parents live to each other and how much each
party actually participates in the child/children’s lives.
A property settlement agreement allows spouses
in a divorce to determine their respective rights and
responsibilities without the court making all of those
decisions for them. Some of the issues covered in this
agreement include distribution of assets and liabilities,
alimony, child support, timesharing with children and other
parenting issues covered in a parenting plan.
In order to see that the terms of a will are followed, every
will names a personal representative (called executor for
men and executrix for women in some northern states). The
personal representative, whether a friend, spouse, family
member or attorney, handles any unsettled financial matters,
pays creditors and oversees the distribution of the assets to
the beneficiaries named in the will.

Magland Celebrates 13 Years Of Creating Landscapes
Landscape Elements: Creating
A Balance
By Gustavo Asp, President,
Magland Landscape Design
The biggest mistake that
we see in landscape is when
the emphasis is on “too
much of a good thing” i.e:
palms, pavers, lightings,
bright flowers. Bringing
multiple elements together in
the proper amounts is what
makes a landscape statement
and creates a visual balance.

as it relates to water demand and hardiness in Florida and
sun vs. shade.
The process can be quite exhausting, when you consider
all the other decisions a new homeowner has to make: tile,
granite, profiles for trim, doors, etc. We were able to eliminate
stress in the process by bringing our 13 years of experience,
our ability to recommend approved plants based on code
requirements and our attention to details such as irrigation
and drainage based on their plant selections and locations.
Window boxes outside the main kitchen area with orchids
and exotic bromeliads bring color right into the home.
Our clients displayed great faith in us and we were able to
exceed their expectations. They have received many inquiries
regarding “their” landscape contractor and sent us referrals
as a result of their positive experience.
Please contact me on your future landscape project; my
staff and I can help you determine the best choice for your

Dublin, Where Irish Eyes Are Smiling ...

It is said that it is easy to
justify one’s actions, if such
actions are for a good cause.
Such was the cause when the
two great Cathedrals of Dublin
were in need of reconstruction.
St. Patrick’s Cathedral was
dedicated in 1192 and Sitric, the
Danish King of Dublin, founded Christ Church Cathedral in
1040. Five hundred plus years later, both needed restorations,
so who should step in, the Guinness (beer) family adopted
one cathedral, and the Jameson (whiskey) family adopted
the other. This act of good faith prompted the citizens of
Dublin to actively support the products of these church
benefactors with more purchases. Religion sure makes
strange bedfellows.
The time line for the history of man’s occupancy in the
Dublin area has been dated back some 5,000 years to stoneage people. Remains of their strange burial practices can be
found about 20 miles north of the city in the Boyne Valley.
Newgrange is one of the “passage graves” that has been open
to the public. The grave is made up of large stones that have
been placed in a corbelled fashion on top of a hill, forming
a small-enclosed room, much the same as an igloo. Other
stones and soil then cover the room creating a large mound.
Leading to the interior of the tomb from the exterior is a very
tiny passage about 20-yards long that slopes uphill from the
exterior to the chamber. Another, much smaller, level passage
way was constructed above the pedestrian passage ... this one
allows light to enter into the inner chamber at floor level.
The chamber remains in total darkness year-round, except
for a period that is less than an hour long at sunrise for three
days ... one day each side, of the winter solstice. There are
no soot marks from torches or fires on the ceiling of the tomb
to create light ... an amazing structure, when one considers
that it is older than the pyramids.
The first recorded visitors to the area were the Vikings
about the 9th century. Using the River Liffey as the protected
waterway off the Irish Sea, they sailed to plunder the northern

coast of Europe. They built
a garrison port on the south
side of the Liffey where
the tributary Poddle joined
it and formed the “Black
Pool” (Dubh-Linn), giving the city its name. The Poddle has
been reduced to a fraction of its former size and has been
rerouted underground.
Dublin soon became a very lucrative base for both raiding
and trading, and despite numerous clashes between the local
chieftains and the Danes they slowly grew together through
intermarriage. The Danes changed from their Viking ways
and accepted Christianity. The Anglo-Normans arrived in
the 12th century; however, it wasn’t until the Elizabethan
period that the British established a presence on the island.
This dominance was restricted to a narrow strip of land along

the east coast, known as the “Pale,” just south of Dublin.
The 17th and 18th century brought the English landlords
that established the Anglo-Irish rule. The 18th century was the
“Golden Age” for building Dublin. With it came “Society,” as
fashionable as any in Europe, that separated the haves from
the have-nots.
The English Crown granted legislative independence to
Ireland in 1782, with Dublin serving as its capital. However,
it was short lived because of the rebellion of the United
Irishmen in 1798 that was inspired by the French and
American Revolutions. Control reverted back to Britain and

the decline for Dublin.
Dublin is a divided city, split in two by the River Liffey
that runs in a west to east direction right through the middle
of the city. In the 18th century, the “rich” moved from the
old medieval city on the south side to the fashionable north
side. It was also during this period that the Georgian style
of architecture encapsulated the city. Dublin is known for
unique doors, because it is the only portion of the row
houses, which line the streets, that can show the occupants
individuality.
No mention of Dublin can be made unless it is recognized
for perhaps its greatest asset, other than Guinness, that being
its writers. The gift of eloquence is said to run in the Irish race
and Dublin must have been the rostrum from which it was
proclaimed. Names which are familiar to all, such as John
Swift, Oliver Goldsmith, James Joyce, William Butler Yeats,
Sean O’Casey, Brendan Behan and even Dracula’s creator
Bram Stoker. One can see how the streets of Dublin easily
lent themselves to the settings for Stoker works. The Dublin’s
Writers Museum containing works and memorabilia of these
and other great writers who lived and worked in the city.
Developing from medieval times, Dublin reflects this
closeness and special character in its city center. Within a
four-football field radius from where the Halfpenny Bridge
crosses the Liffey, the city unfolds before you. The pedestrian
bridge was built in 1816, and is one of Dublin’s landmarks.
On the north side of the Liffey is the General Post Office

with its bullet-riddled columns. It was the headquarters where
the then rebels proclaimed the republic in 1916. There also
is the Abbey Theatre, Irelands National Playhouse, and just
down the block you’ll find Liberty Hall and the Customs
House.
Just over the Halfpenny bridge on the south side is the
Temple Bar area. Words that might best describe it would
be to refer to it as the “left bank” of Dublin. The pubs that
thrive here have come a long way from those of old, where
men drank at the bar in the open, while women were confined
to “snugs,” little closed booths. The intertwined streets that
make up the area contain clubs, cultural centers, restaurants,
studios, galleries, antiques and old book stores and it’s the
“hub” for the young people of Dublin. Just a few steps away
is Dublin’s City Hall, and just behind it is Dublin Castle, a
Danish Fortress which was started in 1208. Trinity College
is just a few blocks to the east, across the street from what
was to be Irelands Parliament Building in 1782.
Elizabeth I founded Trinity College in 1591 on a site
that was confiscated from a monastery. The buildings that
now form its campus date from late 18th century. No visit
to Dublin would be complete without seeing the Book of
Kells in the Old Library. It is considered the greatest artifact
in Irish history, and dates between the 7th to the 9th century.
During this period monks produced magnificently ornate
manuscripts of Latin gospels. A page is turned daily, and
each is truly a work of art.
Throughout the city are statues and fountains that do much
to enhance every-day life. They are excellent reminders of
Irish heritage. The locals have, with typical Irish humor,
dubbed several of these works of art in their own imitable
way. Molly Malone’s statue on Grafton Street, is the object
of the song “In Dublin’s Fair City,” however, is known by the
locals as the “Tart with the Cart.” The aquatic sculpture of
Anna Livia, the river goddess of the Liffey has been dubbed
the “floozy in the Jacuzzi.”
Dublin is a city of young people, as is all of Ireland. Over
half the population is less than 25 years of age. It seems as if
there is a lost generation that was created by the mass exodus
from the country that occurred in the 1980s. The lyrics of the
Irish ballads sung today recall this time. However, there’s
resurgence, and now Ireland is having just the opposite
problem with controlling immigration to the island.
The Pub, and a pint of Guinness for “conversation
fuel,” may be the true heart of Dublin. One thing for sure,
the camaraderie that takes place when these elements are
combined is priceless. Take some time to see Dublin and
enjoy a pint ...

Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens Names Interim Executive Director
Marketing And
Communications Specialist
Takes Over Leadership Role
Karen L. Steele has been
named interim executive
director of the Ann Norton
Sculpture Gardens, according
to David Miller, president of
the organization’s board of
trustees. In this role, Steele
will be responsible for overall
strategy and operations for the
gardens, including oversight
of its art, gallery and garden,
financial development, human
resources, programming and
execution of its mission.
The historic Ann Norton Karen Steele
Sculpture Gardens Inc. is a
recognized 501(c)(3) operating foundation established in
1977 by the prominent sculptor Ann Weaver Norton (19051982). The rare palm and sculpture gardens, exhibition
galleries and artist studio are located at 2051 South Flagler
Drive in West Palm Beach.
According to Miller, Steele’s experience as an independent
marketing and communications consultant and executive
with corporations, government-regulated entities, advertising
agencies and nonprofit organizations is a great fit for this
leadership position. Her longtime relationship with the Ann
Norton Sculpture Gardens made her an ideal candidate for the
role.
“Karen’s more than 25-year association with the Ann
GFWC Palm Beach

Norton Sculpture Gardens as a member, donor and volunteer
will allow her to easily jump into this leadership role,”
said Miller. “She brings tremendous strength in strategic
planning and management, marketing and communications
skills through her professional background. Her nonprofit
expertise has been showcased with a series of workshops
she developed and presented for the Community Foundation,
Nonprofits First and other organizations. Her love of art and
antiques, gardens and historic homes is a great fit for us.”
Steele has past experience serving in interim management
roles for companies in transition, and has developed fullservice marketing departments for multiple organizations.
“It will be a privilege to honor the important legacy of Ann
Norton through this very special garden and museum,” said
Steele. “I look forward to working with the great staff here, a
wonderful board of committed trustees, a dedicated executive
committee, the community-minded patrons of the Gardens
Conservancy and the Gentlemen of the Garden, and all of the
gardens’ donors, members and volunteers to explore continued
opportunities for the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens.”
In addition, Steele has served her community in volunteer
roles with the El Cid Neighborhood Association, Rosarian
Academy and St. Andrews Episcopal School, South Florida
Science Center and Aquarium, Bethesda by the Sea, the
Norton Museum and the American Red Cross.
The West Palm Beach resident received her Bachelor
of Arts degree from Rider University in New Jersey. Her
husband, J. Rodman Steele Jr., is an intellectual property
attorney, former president of the Ann Norton Sculpture
Gardens Board of Trustees, and long-term member of the
Gentlemen of the Garden.
The 1.7-acre Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens are currently
open to the public Wednesday through Sunday, from 10 a.m. to

The New Benzaiten Center For The Creative Arts Now Open
The new Benzaiten Center for the Creative Arts opened its
doors on Friday, Jan. 23 to a large group of supporters, board
members and well-wishers. The organization and facility is
a realization of the vision and mission of JoAnne Berkow.
After a number of years of friend and fundraising, the facility
is now open to working artists and the people who support
and appreciate their crafts. The evening included DJ music, a
lite buffet, a selection of wines, glass blowing demonstrations
and exhibits from local and international artists. The capacity
crowd participated in the official ribbon cutting. The facility
opened to the public on Saturday, Jan. 24.
About The Benzaiten Center For The Creative Arts
The center was developed by the Benzaiten Center for
Creative Arts Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Benzaiten is a unique concept in the world of the arts and
is South Florida’s most compelling community development
project. Located at 1105 2nd Avenue South in LULA, the Lake
Worth Arts District, this former 1920s era train depot will
be the permanent 14,500-square-foot home for a glassworks
studio, metalworks studio, gallery
and gift shop, and offer a worldclass facility for working artists. The
center will incorporate viewing areas
for visitors and demonstrations, off
street parking, truck access with full
loading dock, and is serviced by the
Florida East Coast Railway (FEC) to
accommodate large item rail shipping.
Benzaiten is the Japanese goddess of
all things flowing like art, music, poetry
and learning and, in the case of the
center, a lot of hot glass and bronze.

Connie Frankino Named Pande Family Award Winner
At 2015 Place Of Hope Golf
Invitational And Charity
Dinner, March 22-23
Connie Frankino Has Always Had A Heart For Children,
But Her Compassion Had Led Her To Do More Than
Most Could Imagine
As the president and founder
of KidSanctuary Campus Inc.,
Frankino directly influences
children’s lives by creating
new homes for them to live
and thrive, once they’ve been
displaced due to abandonment,
abuse or neglect. Currently,
KidSanctuary Campus has two
cottages – the Rubin Cottage and Dodero Cottage – as part
of a five-acre residential site that serves as home to foster
children in West Palm Beach. A third cottage is currently
under construction, along with a corresponding naming
campaign and a fourth home is planned.
At the 11th Annual Place of Hope Golf Invitational and
Charity Dinner, Frankino will be honored for her work
with a Pande Family Award. The award will be a highlight
of the Charity Dinner on March 22 at the Old Palm Golf
Club, where guests will enjoy an auction event and live art
performances. On March 23, the golf tournament begins at
8 a.m. at Old Palm Golf Club, followed by lunch and an
awards reception.
In 2009, Place of Hope began recognizing families and
individuals who have gone above and beyond in their service
to the mission of serving Florida’s foster children. The first
award was presented to Maudie Pande and her son, Jim, who
generously dedicated their time to helping Place of Hope
grow. Every year after, a new recipient who embodies their
spirit is honored.
Originally from Westlake, Ohio, Frankino has been a Palm
Beach County resident for more than 30 years and began
KidSanctuary Campus after helping other charities through
the administration of her family foundation. The Samuel
J. and Connie M. Frankino Foundation supports several
nonprofit missions annually, which is how Frankino learned
of Place of Hope. After her foundation gave to Place of Hope,
Executive Director Charles Bender persuaded Frankino to
get further involved with the foster care organization and she
now sits on the board of directors.
“What we do is akin to a mini-Place of Hope, and what I
do is lead an amazing staff and caring donors to create a much
needed environment for so many children in need,” Frankino
said. “None of what we do is possible alone. So many people
come together to make KidSanctuary Campus possible, so
this award is for everyone who works alongside me.”
The 11th Annual Golf Invitational & Charity Dinner
welcomes Place of Hope supporters from across the country
to raise operating funds for programs, housing, services and
outreach. Based in Palm Beach Gardens, Place of Hope is
a faith-based, state-licensed child welfare organization that
provides family-style foster care (emergency and long-term);
family outreach and intervention; maternity care; safety for

You’re Detoxed,
What’s Next?
Congratulations! You have
started the addiction recovery
process. Your decision may
have started with personal
motivation to improve your
life and health or external forces
such as loved ones or legalities.
Regardless you are on the right
track.
Medical detoxification is
the first step to recovery. South
Floridians are fortunate to have local resources that
can safely and comfortably treat alcoholics and other
substance abusers. There are hospital choices like Jupiter
Medical Center and Good Samaritan, sole purpose
centers like Lumiere and Sunrise, traditional residential
inpatient facilities and in-home options as well.
Unless you opted for a residential facility program,
you have important choices to make. If you have left
detoxification still on medication or you are suffering
from pain, you should schedule an appointment with an
addiction or pain management doctor. At the same time
you should get a comprehensive mental health evaluation.
So many people relapse over and over because they were
not diagnosed properly or never addressed the core
issues that caused their self-medication. Next you will
need to decide what ongoing aftercare is best for you
and your family members. Depending on your schedule
and severity of the addiction, you can choose from
outpatient groups, 12-step meetings, family counseling,
sober coaching and a combination of services, to name
a few. There are so many options, it is a daunting
task coordinating all the services and making sure the
providers can work together as a long-term support team
and insurance can cover the costs. Case managers and
consultants can help in this process.
If you and your loved ones need a higher level of care
but are not willing or able to leave home or spare time,
in-home treatment is your best option. A comprehensive,
customized one on one program, in the comfort and
privacy of your home can be designed based on your
schedule, clinical evaluation and personal preferences.
In some cases detoxification can be done in-home as
well. A recovery team is formed that can be available to
you long term, whenever you need them. This treatment
model has proven successful in all stages of recovery.
This program also works if you are a snowbird and
would like to recover while you are here for the winter
months. Some non-Florida residents prefer a short-term
individualized intensive treatment plan in Florida as well.
In all cases, your recovery team can continue to support
you and your family in person and remotely. Consistency
of treatment is crucial for the best long-term results as
most addicts relapse in the first year.
After detoxification, your journey has just begun!
What is next for you and yours?
Addiction Reach Home manages the in-home practice
of addiction treatment providers and acts as a resource
for addicts, their loved ones, clergy, legal and medical
professionals, corporations and inpatient facilities. For

Palm Beach Opera’s Seduction Of The Senses Gala
Featured International Renowned Bass, Ildar Abdrazakov
The highly-anticipated Seduction of the Senses Gala
Recital and Dinner hosted by Palm Beach Opera took place
on Feb. 5 at The Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach. Palm Beach
Opera’s sold-out black-tie gala began with a pre-performance
champagne reception. Following the reception, guests
were regaled with a private concert by the internationally
renowned bass Ildar Abdrazakov accompanied by pianist,
Mzia Bakhturidze. The dazzling concert featured a variety
of pieces from the bass repertoire.
Since making his La Scala debut in 2001 at 25, the Russian
singer has become a mainstay at leading houses worldwide,
including New York’s Metropolitan Opera, the Vienna State
Opera, and Munich’s Bavarian State Opera. Ildar’s powerful,
yet refined voice, coupled with his compelling stage presence
have prompted critics to hail him as a “sensational bass …
who has just about everything – imposing sound, beautiful
legato, oodles of finesse” (The Independent). Also an active
concert artist, he has performed at London’s BBC Proms
and at New York’s Carnegie Hall, as well as with leading
international orchestras, including the Chicago Symphony
and Vienna Philharmonic.
After his concert that ended with two encores, Palm
Beach Opera’s guests were treated to cocktails with Ildar
Abdrazakov followed by a sumptuous three-course dinner
in Mar-a-Lago’s magnificent Grand Ballroom.
Palm Beach Opera’s Board of Directors Chairman Dennis
Williams and his wife, Roseanne, lead the Gala Council.
Honorary Host chairs were: Melania and Donald Trump;
Platinum sponsors: Drs. Henry and Marsha Laufer and
Dennis K. and Roseanne Williams; Gold sponsors: Susan
Carmel Lehrman and Lois Pope; Silver sponsors: Veronica
Atkins, Ari Rifkin and Dr. Charles and Julianne Weissmann;
Bronze sponsors: Nancy Edman Feldman and Mike Chefetz,
Ronnie Isenberg, David I. and Ingrid Kosowsky, Hermé de
Wyman Miro, Marc S. Solomon, Melania and Donald Trump;
and the Mar-a-Lago Member sponsor was Arlette Gordon.
Palm Beach Opera is dedicated to producing live
opera at an international standard of excellence and to
enriching the life of the communities it serves with a diverse
offering of educational programs. Founded in 1961, the
Dennis and Roseanne Williams with Ildar Abdrazakov
fully professional Palm Beach Opera presents main stage
performances at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in
West Palm Beach and is a proud member of OPERA America

Registration Now Open For Fourth Annual ‘Brain Bee’
Academic Games At Max Planck Institute For Neuroscience
Three Winning Teams,
Comprised Of High School
Students, Will Receive
Donations For Their School’s
Science Department
Max Planck Florida Institute (MPFI) for Neuroscience
invites local high school students in Palm Beach and Martin
Counties to enroll in the Fourth Annual Brain Bee Challenge, a
day of academic games and neuroscience discovery, on March
14. The event will be held in celebration of National Brain
Awareness Week, where the goal is to increase public awareness
of the importance, progress and benefits of brain research.
Brain Bee participants will compete in teams of three to
answer questions on neuroscience topics such as learning
and memory, emotion, sensation, movement, aging,
neurobiology, brain anatomy and neural disorders. Teams
work together to provide a single answer within an allotted
time period. Schools are encouraged to send teams of students
to compete. Individual students may also sign up and will be
assigned to a team on the day of the competition.
“We’ve seen competition over the past three years ignite
a passion for brain research and neuroscience discovery
among area high school students,” said Ana Fiallos, Ph.D.,
Max Planck’s head of Education Outreach.
Each student in the top three teams will receive a gift card
and a cash donation to their school’s science department.
Science departments of the first, second and third place
teams will receive donations of $1,000, $500 and $250,
respectively. The donation will be split among the school
science departments proportionally if teams have students
from different schools. The first place team will have a chance
to shadow an MPFI scientist for a day.
Space is limited and early registration is recommended.
Judges are neuroscientists from Max Planck Florida
Institute for Neuroscience. All students who participate will
receive a Max Planck T-shirt, a tour of an MPFI lab and a
complimentary lunch.
For the fourth year in a row, the MPFI Brain Bee is funded
by the Mary and Robert Pew Public Education Fund.
For more information about the Brain Bee Challenge, or

Fooled ya! There is no classic
Cosmo, as we like to call it. The
history of this drink has more
stories than we can imagine and
is more popular than ever, with no
end in sight. Rarely has a cocktail
craze lasted so long. There is one
theory that the drink was started
by a cranberry juice company in the 1960s. Then, there is
another story that it was developed by a bartender in Miami
in the 1980s while
test marketing a
flavored vodka.
The Cosmo started
appearing on the
menus of hip
restaurants across
the country. When
it appeared on the
hit TV series Sex
and the City in the 1990s the Cosmo became center stage in
bars and eating establishments. Today, the Cosmopolitan is
still a very popular drink worldwide.
Ask 10 professional mixologists to make you the perfect
Cosmopolitan and you might get 10 different versions. So,
here is my recipe for the Cosmopolitan.
In a shaker combine:
2 ounces of premium citrus vodka,
¾ ounce Cointreau,
1 ounce of cranberry juice (make sure it is 100 percent
cranberry juice),
¼ ounce fresh-squeezed lime juice
... and shake with plenty of ice.
Pour into a chilled martini glass and garnish with an
orange peel preferably flamed to release the essential oils.
In my test, nine out of 10 friends said it is the best
Cosmopolitan ever. The 10th person said they only drink
beer. Go figure!
