SpongeBob SquarePants - Games/Activities Jumpin’ Jellyfish Materials: 1 blue blanket or tarp 1 pink sock per child Dried beans 16" length of string for each child 1 purple marker Pink ribbon or streamers Music How to Play: Give each child a pink sock already decorated with purple spots. Ask the children to fill their socks ¼-full with dried beans. Tie the top of each filled sock tightly for each child. Once the socks are tied, have each child tape a few ribbon “tentacles” and create “jellyfish” faces using the purple markers, and have them write their name or initials on their jellyfish. Spread the blue “sea” blanket out on the ground. Place all the jellyfish in the center of the blanket. Position the kids around the blanket's edge, and then ask everyone to grab the edge of the blanket to lift it. Crank up the music and have the kids heave the blanket up into the air and back down, sending the jellyfish flying. As the jellyfish fall off the blanket, continue playing until there is just one left – then check the initials to see whose it is. The last jellyfish still swimming in the sea wins! Play 3 to 5 rounds. Pass SpongeBob Materials: Yellow kitchen sponge Markers Glue Optional: “Googly” eyes, yarn, beads, etc. How to Play: Give each child a yellow kitchen sponge and ask them to create their own version of SpongeBob using markers, eyes, etc. When they are finished with their craft, have the kids hold onto their SpongeBob creations and divide them into two teams facing each other in a line. Collect each team’s SpongeBobs and place in a pile at one end of each team. Both teams sit on the ground with their hands behind their backs. The player from each team sitting next to their pile takes one “SpongeBob” to cradle in his feet. He has to pass it to the next player without it touching the ground. If SpongeBob falls, he needs to begin from the start again. Once each SpongeBob has reached the last player, the first player can start a second SpongeBob down the line and so on. When the first player begins to pass the last sponge, he announces “Last SpongeBob!” and when t hat sponge reaches the end, the last player shouts “SpongeBob SquarePants!” The first team to pass all their sponges down the line wins! SpongeBob SquarePants - Games/Activities Bikini Bottom Boogie Materials: Beach towels Music Optional – grab bag with small prizes How to Play: Just like the old party favorite musical chairs, only in true Bikini Bottom style! Break out the beach towels. You will need one for each child to start with. Place all but one beach towel in 2 rows or “fan out” the towels placing them at an angle around a center point -- which ever is easiest for your group. Play fun kids’ music and have the kids bounce, march, or “swim” around to each towel. When the music stops each child must find a beach towel. Continue taking a towel away each round, until only one towel and two kids remain – the winner is…the Best Bouncer in Bikini Bottom! Consider having a “mystery” grab bag – a pillowcase with small prizes or treats – for each child to go to when he is “out”. Suggested music: “SpongeBob SquarePants” theme by Painty the Pirate and kids by John Ondrasik “The Hoppity Song” by Glen Phillips “Have A Little Fun With Me” by Sugarbeats “Walking On Sunshine” by The Beach Boys “Surfin’ USA” by Scribble Monster and Pals “Beautiful Day” Squidward Scurry Trying to find your own name is a challenge when you’re an octopus and no one wants you to find it! In this fun game, kids will try to “hide" the name they have on their back while trying to find their own. Lots of belly-busting laughter will ensue in this scurry under the sea! Materials: One index card per guest Several colors of streamers or ribbon Safety pins Tape How to Play: Write the names of all of the children on index cards and hole-punch the cards at the top. If children are too young to recognize their name, you may want to use photos. Attach several streamers or ribbons (“tentacles”) to each index card. Each card should have streamers of the same color, but each “octopus” should be a different color (for example: one index card will have all pink streamers, one will have all blue, etc.). Have all of the kids line up in a horizontal line facing the same way. Walk behind them so they cannot see whose name they have, and pin an index card on the back of each guest so that no one has his own name. Ready, set…go! Everyone has to find the person with his/her name and pull the streamer. At the same time, each child must avoid letting anyone pull the “tentacles” off of them. Be sure that the streamer color matches the others on the card…no one is allowed to pull the wrong tentacle…the color will give you away!!! ©2009 Viacom International Inc. All Rights Reserved.
