Godzilla has been reborn yet again
for Godzilla VS. Mecha Godzilla, the 26th
Godzilla film since his creation in 1954. This
time around they return to the old formula
and bring Godzilla back to his roots, as compared to 25th movie where they tried a
whole new look for Godzilla .
As we entered the 21st century, technology has increased Dramatically over
the years, bringing about a real robot age.
This was the perfect chance to revive the
mechanical beast Mecha Godzilla once
again to do battle with Godzilla. TOHO
brought on board director Akimasa
Tezuka for this project, who had worked
on Godzilla VS. Megagilas in previously
in 2000.
Mecha-Godzilla’s first appearance was
in 1974 and this film will mark the first
time in 9 years he has appeared in a
Godzilla film. Ever since his first encounter
in 1974,
Mecha Godzilla has appeared 3 times,
each time to be destroyed by Godzilla.
This time, Mecha Godzilla will prove more
than a match for Godzilla as he has been
upgraded to a new stronger, high-tech weapon of destruction, a super cyborg.
The new film is planned for a December
2002 release and will run with the amazingly popular kids show Totoko Hamutaro
(Hamtaro in the U.S.), which also ran with
the Godzilla G.M.K Movie of last year. This
proved to be such a success, since it brought
in a whole new Younger audience to see the
Godzilla film.

officer who pilots the new Mechagodzilla.
To prepare for this role, she watched
