2015 Holiday Guide
Spokane
is
this holiday season
The freeze hits November 27 to December 31
Downtown businesses are
encouraged to leap into the
holiday spirit by decorating
windows, skywalks, doorways and
lobbies. Immerse downtown by
theming your holidays around this Year’s inspiration: “Frozen”
Elements
You cant be Frozen without snow, ice, hues of blue and cool lights. Traditional elements of Norway folk can be used as
costumes or for window displays.
Decorate
Show your holiday spirit with a window or floor display that captures the tradition only downtown can provide!
Creating theme-specific displays is an easy way to add excitment while exploring downtown.
Painting
Window painting is an easy way to extend the holiday
spirit into skywalks* and storefronts. Do it yourself or
hire a professional. DSP will coordinate Skywalk painting
throughout downtown.
Display
Use a street or skywalk facing window to celebrate the
traditional display that downtowns are known for.
Get creative with your own design | Utilize classic
holiday décor or elements from the theme to create a
fantastic display for customers and visitors to enjoy.

Light it up
Let’s light up downtown! Make the holidays more enjoyable with an explosion of lights, creating a destination for
families, shoppers and more. From small displays to dancing light shows, nothing cuts through the dark like the
warm glow of twinkling lights. Consider adding lights to your holiday plan this winter and add your location to the
Downtown Holiday Lights Tour by filling out the Holiday Participation Form.
Inspiration
Change your internal top floor building lights or
external building lights to festive colors.
Build a gobo (projection of a lighted image) to cast
onto a wall or building.
Create a Laser Light Display on your building,
fountain or other eye catching feature.
Cover your exterior with lights and create a dancing
light show.
Make your trees twinkle by wrapping them with
lights.
See our Holiday Lighting Guide for more ideas.
Resources
If you have street trees in front of your building
that already have power to them and need twinkle
lights or replacements, contact Andrew Rolwes at
509.456.0580 or [email protected].
Expect costs of $100 per hour.

Find Olaf*
Bring a little whimsy and fun to your downtown
business through these engaging activities.
From November 27 through December 16,
downtown visitors can search for Olaf in 25
businesses and organizations in Downtown
Spokane.
How it works
1. Users get their OLAF Passport by printing one
online, or stopping in at Auntie’s Bookstore, River
Park Square or at any one of the other participating
businesses.
2. Users search for the Olaf figure inside the
businesses listed in their passport. When Olaf is
located the user has his/her passport signed or
stamped by an employee.
3. When 10 stamps/signatures are collected they
are dropped off at Aunties to be automatically
entered into the grand prize drawing for a
downtown family pack (and other prizes) that will
be held on December 16. One entry per person.
4. Users who find Olaf at all 25 locations will earn
