Winter Read Program Kick Off
An
anniversary is a
time to honor the love
that you share and commemorate the original
commitment of a relationship. The Friends of
the Library invite you
to celebrate with us at
the 10th anniversary of
The Festival of Tables
on April 21, 2012.
In the past, the profits
from the Festival have
gone toward summer
reading programs for
children,
storytelling programs, winter
reading programs for
adults, teen reading
group events as well as
books and materials.
This year, the profits
from The Festival of
Tables will be going
toward the capital campaign “All Booked Up
and Ready to Grow”.
This capital campaign
project includes the
construction of an 8,100
square foot two-story
addition to the current
facility and remodeling the existing 4,300
square foot library.

LibraryhasnewWeb-Page!
The Lake Odessa Library webpage has a new look thanks
to Plinkit. Check it out at ww
w.lakeodessalibrary.org and
see the changes. Plinkit is the
web authoring environment
that libraries in partner with
states/regional organizations
use to create smart, new web
sites for their patrons. Plinkit
is built using Plone, an opensource content management
system.
It was originally
intended for public libraries
only, but is now used by other
types of libraries. Library web
sites are created and edited
right through the web, using
built-in text editors and other
powerful features that make a
tough job simple and give patrons a clean, usable, web site
where the information delivery is the true and proper
focus. Staff member Jennifer
Salgat has put many hours
of work into the new site and
monitors it daily. Many parts
are still under construction
and will be available when
completed. Take a tour and
see what you think.

If you did not receive the
‘PURE LAKEWOOD’
photo book for Christmas,
there are still books available at the library, So Simply and The Heirloom Gallery in Lake Odessa. One
hundred copies were initially ordered at the close
of the Photo Contest. Sales
of the book sky rocketed
during the holiday season
and a few copies still remain if you were unable to
purchase one earlier. The
cost of the book is $40.
This book is a collection of
the fifty best photos chosen
from over three-hundred
photographs. Sixty-three
individuals from the Lakewood Area submitted photos for the contest. Help
support the library’s building and renovation project
by purchasing a pictorial
scrapbook of Lakewood’s
best ‘hometown’ scenes.
This would make an excellent birthday or anniversary gift as well.
