Woolworths 2009 Valentines Promotion Packaging WINS awards...
Columbit is thrilled to announce that at the
2009 Flexographic Technical Association of
South Africa - Print excellence award for
Best on Show, as well as the Gold Award,
for Shrinkable labels went to Colpak for
Woolworths “Lady in Red” sparking wine
packaging. The shrink sleeve packaging was
printed by Colpak, who is our sister company.
on 40 micron PET material using UV inks
bought locally.
Alcoholic Fruit Beverages and pre- mixed
drinks for a number of years.
Shrink sleeves offer a unique opportunity for
branding as one can have continuous artwork
which wraps right around the bottle. This
affords endless design opportunities to attain
“shout” on the shelf amongst other brands.
The international market has been more
adventerous with applying sleeves on wines
and sparking wines.
Colpak is the first flexographic printer that
we know of to produce work of such a fine
screen ruling which matches that of Gravure
printing.
I am not sure how many people saw this
packaging on the shelf as it was a limited
edition made by Villiera and sold out really
quickly.
In addition the packaging is enjoying
international recognition; as we have received
notification from the Flexographic Technical
Association (FTA) in America that we will
receive an award at the FTA Excellence in
Flexography Awards Ceremony in Las Vegas
in May 2010.
The packaging design was conceptulised
and designed with talented Woolworths
product development manager - Claudine
Adams and Designer Fabienne Bain of Fab
Design.
