ANNOUNCING THE SECOND
OF THREE ABENDMUSIK CONCERTS
The Tenth Anniversary Abendmusik Fine Arts Concert Series at Rye Congregational
Church, 580 Washington Rd, Rye, NH, is pleased to announce the second of
three concerts featuring outstanding artists who helped birth the series.
On Saturday, September 17th, 7:30 PM, Abendmusik Presents
SIRENS’ SONG, ANGELYNNE HINSON, Soprano and MELINDA MCMAHON,
Mezzo-soprano. New Hampshire’s “Preeminent Duo” will present an evening of sterling
song in works by Dowland, Quilter, Vaughan Williams, and a little heard folksong
cycle by Beethoven.
Sirens’ Song
The Portland Press Herald writes that Sirens’ Song is “an impeccably matched
duo with a brilliant, highly textured soprano and an equally warm and
luminous mezzo-soprano…ingeniously chosen repertoire.” Their CD, Mélange,
has been lauded by the Portsmouth Herald as “classic and beautiful…the
voices and delivery are equally splendid. Hinson and McMahon exude joy at
their craft.”
Sumptuous accompaniment will be performed by Mary Towse-Beck, Piano;
Hannah Reitz, Violin; and Dorothy Braker, Cello. The instrumentalists will also
perform trio works by Beethoven and the famous Argentinian tango composer,
Astor Piazzolla.
Mary Towse-Beck
Dorothy Braker is a graduate of the Julliard School of Music and is known as
the most prominent cellist in New Hampshire for at least a generation.
Hannah Reitz’s violin virtuosity is integral to seacoast orchestras and
ensembles, and she is also Artist in Residence at Rye Congregational Church.
Mary Towse-Beck is an international pianist who has performed throughout
Europe, Australia and the United States and has been a featured artist on
Australian National Radio and on public radio in the United States. In 2013,
Mary released a new CD, The Impressionists, which includes solo piano works
of Debussy, Ravel, and Griffes. It has been critically acclaimed and featured on
numerous radio stations throughout North America. In 2015, Mary performed
works from her CD, The Impressionists, in recital at Carnegie Hall.
The Grand Finale Concert celebrating Ten Years of Abendmusik concerts will
be on Saturday, October 22nd, 7:30 PM. International Concert Pianist,
PAUL DYKSTRA, will include solo masterworks on the first half of the program
and on the second half the most famous Piano Concerto ever composed- the
“Emperor Concerto” by Beethoven for Piano and Full Orchestra, conducted by
