A CHAIR SO REMARKABLE IT SITS
IN THE MUSEUM OF MODERN ART.
The Aeron Chair took three years of research and
development before it was introduced to the public.
It quickly became apparent that Herman Miller had
succeeded in its goal of creating a new industry
standard for task seating. In fact, the Aeron Chair
was chosen for permanent exhibition in New York’s
Museum of Modern Art. And, more importantly, it’s
chosen daily for offices all across America.
The Aeron Chair was designed to address many of
the needs recently recognized as evolving from the
demands of the modern office. Increased human
stress levels and the emergence of national and
international health and safety codes were key
factors. Also, the design acknowledges the need to
reduce the artificiality pervading the workplace and
return something of a natural feel to the office.
Much of the revolutionary success of the Aeron
Chair involves the innovative woven fabric Pellicle.
Made of elastomeric polyester, Lycra and fibers, it
was developed especially for use in the Aeron Chair.
Pellicle’s stretchable, mesh-like construction allows
air to pass through, preventing heat buildup. It also
conforms to the body as it equitably distributes
weight to seat and back.
The Aeron Chair is quickly becoming the leading
choice for seating among companies that recognize
the need to balance comfort and style with the need
for functional support for the user.
