Market Day Pick Up
At student dismissal time, we are asking 4K-4th grade
parents to wait outside door number 2 for their
child(ren). The other option would be for parents to
wait in line with the rest of the car pick-ups.
REMINDER
If you do not have a handicap sticker for
your car, please park in an empty
spot when dropping off your children.
Parents that park in the lot during morning or
afternoon pick up, please walk your child across
the bus lane. We are trying to make arrival and
dismissal times as safe as possible for all.
Thank you for helping to make Bristol a great school.
Sincerely,
Jeff Terry

A Few More Reminders
Dear Parent or Guardian,
This is a reminder about our drop off and pick up
procedures as they relate to our school safety plan.
At student drop off time, please drop your child(ren)
off at the door. As part of our safety plan, we are
really working hard to
SUN SAFETY
With warmer weather quickly approaching,
a few safety
precautions to review for protecting the skin
while enjoying the summer months.
 The sun is strongest during the middle part of the day.
Plan indoor activities during this time. Look for
shaded areas to play, if unable to be indoors.
 Dress children in light weight clothing. Keeping the
skin covered reduces exposure. Wear a hat to protect
the sensitive areas of the head, neck, ears and face.
BRISTOL SCHOOL NEWSLETTER
APRIL 2015
 Encourage children to wear sunglasses. Sunglasses
need lenses that provide protection from UVA/UVB
rays.
 Use sunscreen with appropriate SPF protection, at all
times. Areas often missed include the ears, nose and
tops of feet. Reapply per manufacturer directions.
Sunscreen is necessary on overcast days due to
UVA/UVB rays ability to penetrate through clouds.
 Wear lip balm with appropriate SPF protection.
A serious sunburn can increase the risk of skin cancer. Follow
the Sun Safety Tips for a fun and safe summer.

BABYSITTERS IN THE AREA??
With summer being right around the corner, we
occasionally get calls from new families moving into our
area on child care that is available in the Bristol School
District. Are you a stay-at-home parent that wouldn’t
mind watching children over the summer while their
parents work? Are you interested in watching younger
siblings while the parents work and older brothers and
sisters are in school?
If interested, please call the Main Office at 262-857-2334 and
leave your name and phone number with us. You could also
email us at [email protected]. If you have a
preference as to only younger children, before and after school
only or whatever the case may be, also let us know that
information. Thank you.

ATODA Award Winners
Every year Bristol students participate in the
Greater Kenosha Community Alcohol, Tobacco,
and Other Drugs Prevention Education
Awareness Programs. Typically students in
grades 3-8 participate in the Slogan contest in
the fall and grades 2-8 participate in the Poster
Contest in the winter months. If a classroom
has 100% participation their class gets put in for
a drawing for a $50 class prize.
This is the 35th year of these programs. We
have seen many great slogans and great
posters made through the years. There are
different age groupings for the contests so the
younger students are not competing with high
school for example.
In the past we have had one winner. This
year we have two poster winners. From 2nd
grade in the category K-2 was Kostandino
Sdralis who won 3rd place. From 7th grade in
the category 6-8 was Marie Tyree who won 1st
place.
These students will receive an engraved
trophy, monetary award, get their picture in a
special section of the newspaper in April and are
invited to a special brunch in their honor with
their families.
Congratulations for a job well done! (Who
knows maybe we will get some classroom
winnings as well. Last our school received all
three of those!)
4th grade Safety Poster Winners
Every year our 4th grade students participate
in a county-wide poster contest regarding
safety. The poster contest is sponsored by the
Kenosha County Sheriff's department. A poster
is selected each year in each classroom. This
year we had Sam Murillo win from Mrs. Birch's
classroom, we had Morgan Chyla win from Mrs.
Gillmore's classroom and we had Grace Cetera
win from Mrs. VandeHei's classroom.
Students were invited to dinner with the
Sheriff on Tuesday, March 24th at the Parkway
Chateau in the Brat Stop and received new
bicycles as their prizes. What a nice prize to
receive right before spring break.
Grandparent Lunch Day
Grandparent lunch day was held on March
26th. It was a huge success!!! We fed 365
grandparents plus 418 staff and students.
We’d like to say thank you to our wonderful
junior high student helpers, the office staff,
teachers, aides, janitors and our parents who
helped out in the kitchen. We couldn’t have
done it without all of you! Thanks again!!

JUMP ROPE FOR HEART
On February 24th, students at Bristol School jumped all over heart disease and stroke by participating in
Jump Rope for Heart. The students raised $4,642 for the American Heart Association, which funds research,
programs and education to fight heart disease and stroke, our nation’s No. 1 and No. 4 killers.
On behalf of the American Heart Association and the millions of Americans served, thank you very much
to Bristol School families for this donation. Families and schools are critical links in providing the foundation for
cardiovascular wellness in our country. By holding a Jump Rope for Heart event at Bristol School each year, we
raise awareness about heart-healthy living. We help the AHA fund more lifesaving scientific research and critically
needed education efforts. Thank you.
Almost every family in America is touched by heart disease or stroke, and Bristol School’s contribution will
significantly impact the fight against these devastating illnesses.
Students had a lot of fun, and the kids enjoyed learning about the importance of physical activity and how
they can play a role in saving lives. Jump Rope For Heart is a program that promotes physical activity and heart
health through jumping rope.
