June - Fagowee`s
A Message from Our President
It’s Patio Season!
In case you missed it, Laurie and I did a tour of patios last summer. We went to 100
patios, mostly around Cleveland. We rated them based on atmosphere, beer selection and food. Some of our favorites were Merwin's Wharf, Don's Pomeroy House,
Whiskey Island, Edison's and Tremont Tap House (the location of this month's happy hour.)
Sometimes it was just the two of us but many times we invited friends to join us. It's
fun to have a big group and smaller, more intimate groups are fun too.
We're at it again this year. We're revisiting some of our favorites but we want to try
new places too. If you have a favorite patio please tell us about it. We'd love to meet
you there.
Friend us on FaceBook if you want to join us on our adventures. We've been trying
to let people know a few days ahead of time but often we decide at the last minute
and post it on our way there.
See you on the
Patio!

Congratulations to the Fagowee of the Month!
Our newest Fagowee of the month is also one of our oldest, yet he has been doing the
clubs hardest job.
He joined, oh I don’t know, 6 years ago or so and has had a great time being a Fagowee.
A superb golfer, I’m sure you’ll see him at the Fagowee golf nights using orienteering to get
back to the fairways. And, of course, he is a great gentleman who as he says “ Looks only at a
lady’s eyes”. Right, you can trust him on that one ladies.
Yet when all is said and done, our Fagowee of the Month is a great guy with a great
sense of humor. As our retiring Happening editor, he has to have one. Of course, I am speaking
about John M. Our editor these past three years, he volunteered to be editor when no one else
would and did a great job. This is his last issue, so God knows what he will put in it.
So next time you see him buy him a beer, especially at a golf course. Everyone is a lot
safer if he spends the evening in the club house. As a special favor to our Fagowee of the
Month, he may choose his own picture for this article. A rare privilege indeed. Thanks Jack.
Congrats to a great guy…. Jack
M.
Here’s your favorite editor having a pre-breakfast Cuba Libre at a swingers bar on the
beach. Retirement is not all it’s cracked up to be.

Fagowees Ski Club
2015 Racer of the Year
This racer is a consistent producer of points for the team and so is her husband. She won her class… again! this year with 172
points which was the most points for all Fagowees racers. She not only made every race, she finished every race. She accumulated
5 1st place, 4 2nd place, and 3 3rd place medals along the way.
Although she repeated as the class champ, she was unable to repeat as the Bristol Combined champ finishing a disappointing 3 rd.
But it’s all about the boots, no trouble. Keep bringing the booty back Deb! Boom! Boom!
Please congratulate our Fagowees Racer of the Year, skier Debbie McCreery
Fagowees Ski Club
2015 Most Improved Male Racer
After struggling to finish races most of the season last year, this racer finished every race… well, almost every race. He had a little
trouble with that Bristol Combined slalom. Woulda, shoulda, coulda had a combined trophy. He still won the overall points in the
class with 162 points accumulating 5 1st place, 4 2nd place, and 2 3rd place medals. He has also been a damn good Fagowee serving
as our VP this past year!
Please congratulate our Fagowees Most Improved Male Racer, skier Mark Pillon
Fagowees Ski Club
2015 Most Improved Female Racer
This racer started her rookie season very slowly last year finishing consistently in last place until the Swain race where she managed a 6th place finish in the slalom just 17.6 seconds behind the 1 st place finisher and 13 seconds from the podium.
This year she was determined to get a medal and even made a bet on it. Well, she started off slow at the first race finishing last.
Then she took 4 3rd place finishes in the next 5 races coming closer each time to the top finishers. At the Holiday Valley duals she
had a photo finish… well, I wish I had a photo as she used the timing padding as a ramp, did an invert and took out the timing but
still finished. Splat! Finishing strong, she won the Swain super G carving turns like she had been racing for years. She looked hot
in the cat costume too even though she was freezing. She didn’t even realize she had won as she thought there was a second run.
She then proceeded to win the GS race convincingly and was just 3 gates from the winning the snowboard combined on the second
slalom run when she went down hard. Splat!
But she’s a bad ass and she’ll be back again next year to kick some more Snowballer butt.
Please congratulate our Fagowees Most Improved Female Racer, snowboarder Lauren Krysiak
Fagowees Ski Club
2015 Rookie Racer of the Year
I try to remember to smile as I get in the gate before the start, because if I’m not having fun doing it, then it’s not worth doing. This
racer is always putting a smile on everyone’s face. She is enthusiastic and having a great time even when she is not having a great
race. In fact, she was having so much fun at the Holiday Valley duals that she went through the wrong finish on her second run. I
guess that finish gate was so good she wanted to do that one again. Rookie mistake.
Although she started last year qualifying at Swain 2 she didn’t have any points races. She missed the first race of the season this
year but made it to every other race and finished at the top of her class with 157 points and 9 1 st place wins.
Please congratulate our Fagowees Rookie Racer of the Year – Barb Jordan

Calling all Golfers!
Golf season is again upon us. With thanks to Wes and Yvonne for coordinating a spectacular program for
the past few years, we welcome Erik and Sue as our new commissioners.
We will secure starting times at a variety of local golf courses for each Wednesday through September. We
plan to put a lot more fun and laughter into our games, streamlining our starting and finishing times, and, of
course, locating the best 19th hole party spots.
Look for more scramble style play, three person scrambles, increased hole sizes, and tee box variations.
The popular score card raffle will continue, with an end of the season drawing for great prizes. The more
times you play, the better your chances!
Be sure to sign up for the Bonus Rounds Program at any Cleveland MetroPark Golf Course, since we will be
there often.
We are open to any suggestions for improvements.
The Metro Cup is on 07/25/2015 at Punderson State Park Golf Course, so save the date. We want to assemble a complete team, and challenge to win the Cup! Cost is $87.00. We are ordering shirts this year, so
keep that in mind as an extra cost.
Although you are welcome to participate at any time, please let us know the dates you are able to attend, in
advance. We want to stay on good terms with the courses and that starts with an accurate head count for tee
times The weekly schedule is posted on the Meetup website, for Fagowees --- A sport and social group with
a skiing problem-------- website, and Facebook. Rainouts, course changes, and updates will be posted weekly.
The good weather is right around the corner, we hope to hear from you and see you soon.
Here is to a fun filled season ahead. Take a look at our season schedule on the next page!
