MEMORIAL CHAPEL DEDICATION – FEBRUARY 28, 4 PM
I know I’ve mentioned it previously, but every time we have something important,
someone will say, I didn’t know anything about it. So on Sunday afternoon, February 28, at
4 pm, we will gather in our beautifully repaired and renovated Memorial Chapel to
dedicate its continued service to the Kingdom of God.
A memorable program is being planned with several choirs, a responsive reading, favorite hymns, and
videos of testimonies by long-time, First Baptist members. Following the dedication service, there will be
tours and explanations of the repairs and upgrades. Finally, the afternoon will culminate with a reception in
the Atrium/Concourse for everyone to visit and reminisce about their memories of and attachments to the
Chapel. There will be no evening service on that Sunday.
Not many churches are still able to use a former house of worship – most have fallen into disrepair
over the years. That is why I am so thankful our 110 year-old Memorial Chapel is not only still in use, but
will continue to be one of the most desired venues for worship services in Tifton for decades to come.
Time is short if you would like to participate financially in the Memorial Chapel’s restoration. You
may still contribute any amount to the Chapel Fund. In addition, for a gift of $1000 or more, you may
designate your gift to the pew fund in memory or in honor of someone, with the list of those doing so being
included in the commemorative program. The deadline for that contribution is February 14 to allow time to
have the program professionally printed.
Please make plans to join us on February 28, at 4 pm, in the Memorial Chapel. We anticipate a
capacity crowd of current and former members, along with friends from throughout the region who have
expressed a love and appreciation for its worshipful beauty, gathering to dedicate the Memorial Chapel to God and our continued consecration to His service.
Gratefully yours,

Youth/College/Singles Ministry– Bill Hughes
The weekend of March 4-5-6 is very important in the life of our youth. That weekend we
are holding our 27th annual DiscipleNow. Why is DiscipleNow such an important event?
Because for 3 days youth will be talking about, thinking about, and participating in evangelism,
ministry, and missions.
There is a tendency for Christians, and even churches, to focus inward on their needs, their comforts and
their wants. Besides being totally unbiblical (see Matt. 28), this approach ultimately is not fulfilling. Jesus said that
you find life when you give life away (see Matt. 10:39.) As we disciple teens, we desire for them to discover this
before they entrench themselves in a life of selfishness—fairly common in our culture.
We still have room for a few students to participate. The cost is just $25. And, we ask the entire church to
pray for our students on March 4-5-6. We will have a make-up date for youth unable to attend DiscipleNow due to
scheduling conflicts on March 26. Please call Bill or Emily if you want to participate in DiscipleNow or to add your
name to those involved in the make-up date. Bill
Easter, Traveling Choirs and Dedication Programs!
Music & Worship - Gary Aikens
Can you believe it’s only a few weeks before “The Day He Wore My Crown,” our Easter
Musical? You’ll be so excited when you see and hear this great presentation with it’s exciting sights
and sounds. I hope that all who have a gift to sing, will come and join us for rehearsals this month
at 7:30 pm in the Choir room, and for final rehearsals on March 6, 13 and 20. at 3:00 pm. There
will only be one presentation on March 20 @ 6:30 pm. It will be an exciting and joyful time as Eastside Baptist
Church joins us to sing this musical.
But don’t get so caught up in the excitement of the moment that you forget the reason you are there — to
worship Jesus Christ. Because this is such a powerful presentation, be sure to bring friends and family members to
hear the precious retelling of our Lord’s resurrection. After all, He called you to serve so do it with all your might,
either by singing in the musical or bringing someone with you. Please don’t look at this as just an entertaining
opportunity but make it special by enabling someone you know to hear and receive the Gospel.
Joyful Sound is going to be singing at FBC, Pelham, on February 14. Pray for them as they travel and sing for
the congregation there.
February 28 is our Memorial Chapel Dedication program at 4:00 pm. All of the children in choirs, 4 – 6
grade, will be singing in the new chapel along with Joyful Sound. We have a brass ensemble and violin duo to help
bring excitement and joy to this time of dedication.
We have great days ahead! Look for more opportunities to serve God through our music ministry! Gary
