And so I insist—and God backs me up on this—that there be no going along with the crowd,
the empty-headed, mindless crowd. They’ve refused for so long to deal with God that they’ve
lost touch not only with God but with reality itself. They can’t think straight anymore.
But that’s no life for you. You learned Christ! My assumption is that you have paid careful
attention to Him, been well instructed in the truth precisely as we have it in Jesus.
Since, then, we do not have the excuse of ignorance, everything—and I do mean everything—
connected with that old way of life has to go. Get rid of it! And then take on an entirely new
way of life—a God-fashioned life, a life renewed from the inside and working itself into your
conduct as God accurately reproduces His character in you.
~ Ephesians 4 MSG
Are you a hero in the making? Live Your BEST LIFE – Be Your BEST SELF!
God cares about our character. In fact, one of the biggest changes we can expect
when we come into relationship with God is that our character will change.
In some mysterious way, by the power of the Holy Spirit, we gain the strength to
overcome challenges, to resist temptation, to make better choices; we become
more loving, more giving, more kind and compassionate. I guess as Paul sees it,
we become MORE LIKE GOD!
Every now and then I think about the great heroes of the faith and the
great heroes of our modern and postmodern times. Most of them are men and
women of great courage AND GREAT CHARACTER. Often the thing that sets
them apart is that the choices they make are clearly for the benefit of others; they
are often self-less and invested in making a difference in the world around them.
Summer is a great opportunity for us to work on CHARACTER BUILDING!
Think about your best character traits… how were they formed in you?
Think about the traits you admire in others… ask them how they developed them!
Let’s look around and notice those who are humble, strong, courageous, resilient,
confident, loving, wise, kind or giving. They might be HEROES in the making!
Let’s work together as God’s people to develop God’s character in ourselves
and in our young people. Let’s encourage one another and take the time to say
that CHARACTER COUNTS! By God’s grace may we each live into the
opportunity to be our best selves
and live our best life!! Amen.
Love & Blessings,
Pastor Angy

New Church Grant
Many of you have heard about the GRANT from the
conference to fund a new church here in Columbia.
A couple of people have expressed confusion and
concern about the District’s new church project and
how it will affect CRAFT. This grant will benefit Craft
in many extraordinary ways, including financially.
The details of the Grant and the New Church Project
will be outlined for you in a letter, which you should
receive within the next two weeks. In this letter you
will be given an opportunity to find a way to connect
with or support this new church project, if you
choose. We ask that everyone support the project
with prayer, positive encouragement and understanding. Nothing will change for worse for the
current members of CRAFT. You will not lose
anything and in fact, you will gain a great deal!!
This is a HUGE win for CRAFT and the future of
CRAFT. It is a reason to celebrate and anticipate
great things! It is also a giant vote of confidence in
us and in our ability to be part of the Methodist
Team in Columbia. You should all be very proud and
very excited! If you have questions or concerns
after you receive your letter, please call me and let’s
sit down and talk through it. Many details are still
being worked out, but you have my word that this is
a completely positive development
for CRAFT’s members! Pastor Angy
**** Poplar Estates Worship - June 14th & July 12th at 2:00p. ****
Beginning in June our congregation will begin a new Outreach
Worship event at Poplar Estates Retirement Home. Billy Oliver will
be leading this new ministry and invites you all to join him in bringing music, prayer, scripture and a brief devotional to the residents of
Poplar Estates. If you would like to help or lead in any way, or if you
would just like to come and support Billy in this ministry, it will be
the 2nd Sunday of each month at 2:00 p.m. at Poplar Estates.
Sunday Evening Worship & Small Groups
This summer join us for a RELAXED & FUN “come
as you are” time of fellowship, worship and small
groups. This is perfect for people who work Sunday
mornings, who golf Sunday mornings or who just
like to sleep in on Sunday mornings!! Because it is
“RELAXED”, it is also a great opportunity to INVITE
friends who don’t go to church.
