GAUGE
18 sts and 24 rows = 10 x 10 cm measured over St st using 4 ½ mm needles.
Check gauge and adjust needle size if necessary.
NOTE
Sleeves are worked in the round from lower edge to underarms and then back
and forth to mid back were the two sleeves are grafted together.
Moss stitch: Row 1: *k1, p1* to end. Row 2: p the k sts, k the p sts. Rep row 1
and 2.
SLEEVES
Cast on 68 (80, 80) sts with A using 4 ½ mm, 40 cm circular needle. Join in a
circle and work Moss sts 4 (5, 5) rows. Work 3 (4, 4) rows in St st and then patt
from chart (in size S the pattern is not continuous, i.e. can not be fully repeated
in the round). Total sts after row 16 in chart: 60 (70, 70) sts and after row 24: 52
(60, 60) sts. When patt is complete incr 1 st after first sts and 1 st before last st
of rnd, then in every 10th rnd up sleeve, total 6 (6, 7) times => 64 (72, 74) sts.
Cont without further shaping until sleeve measures 46 (48, 50) cm or desired
length.
Right sleeve
Place last st in the last row and 7 (8, 9) L of next row on holder. Note the
underarm sts are off centred to left. Work St st back and forth over the remaining
56 (63, 64) sts for 22 (25, 27) cm.
Left sleeve
Place last 7 (8, 9) sts in the last row and the first st in next row on holder. On left
sleeve the underarm sts are off centred to right. Work further like right sleeve.
FINISHING
Check if the length across back is suitable. The shrug is rather tight fitted but if
you want them looser work some extra rows. Graft sts on mid back tog and
weave in loose ends.
Binding
With 60 cm circular needles, pick up sts at the edge, one sts every 2 rows
around the opening and every sts of the holder underarms. The binding should
be a little tighter than the opening and you might need to pick up fever sts and/or
use ½ mm smaller needles. Work 5 rows Moss stitch. Bind off loosely
