Gulfgate Dodge Chrysler Jeep has consistently improved their presence in the Houston Metro
Market. James Davis, Dealer Principal at Gulfgate started in the auto business as a new car salesman
in 1983 at Mac Haik Chevrolet. He learned the business and trained under former Chrysler Minority
Dealer Dale Early at Deerbrook Forest Chrysler jeep in 1991. In October 2002, James gladly accepted
the opportunity to branch out on his own and became the Dealer Principal/General Manager at what
is now Gulfgate Dodge Chrysler Jeep in Houston, TX.
Mr. Davis is most proud of maintaining his success despite the challenges and changes that
have taken place in the auto industry the last several years. He stays focused by staying connected
with his employees and the community. According to James, “Getting and keeping the right people is
the key to his success.” He has a simple business philosophy; to be the dealer of choice by providing
transportation solutions to the entire Houston Metro market while serving and staying connected to
the minority community. He is very active in the community and just last year, he sponsored one of
the one of the teams that played in the Little League World Series.
James is married to his wonderful wife Marla of 22 years. They have three children Jada 18,
Tavia 16 and Jillian 15. They reside in the Greater Houston Metro area and are active in a number of
school activities and charitable events, such as the Annual Catholic Bizarre. James and his family
attend St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Houston, TX.
We wish James Davis and his team much continued success!

Chrysler Group
reports Q3 earnings
Chrysler Group halved its
net loss in the third quarter,
having sold more vehicles at
higher prices, and upgraded
its earnings guidance for the
full year, the Financial Times
reported.
Chrysler Group said it made
$239 million in operating profit
in the quarter compared to
$183 million in the second
quarter, according to The Wall
Street Journal. Revenue totaled $11 billion. For the full
year, Chrysler now expects an
operating profit of about $700
million and free cash flow of
about $500 million, The Journal said.
The previous forecast called
for break-even results on an
operating basis or a small operating profit of $200 million,
and a $1 billion cash loss, the
newspaper said. Revenue is
expected to be $42 billion.
Chrysler Group CEO Sergio
Marchionne said, ―We are not
only living up to our commitments but we are also exceeding our 2010 financial objectives,‖ according to CNNMoney.com.
Analyst Jesse Toprak of
TrueCar told the Los Angeles
Times that Chrysler Group
should have success bringing
customers into showrooms in
the coming months as it continues to roll out 16 new or
redesigned vehicles.
Chrysler Group gained U.S.
market share for the fifth consecutive quarter, The Associated Press reported.
Charger leads revamped „11 Dodge line up
Leading the charge, so to
speak, of the Dodge brand’s
recovery is the revamped 2011
Charger, Road & Track said.
Looking at the exterior, Car
and Driver wonders whether
there is an ―angrier‖ car on the
road.
The magazine said there’s
―menace‖ in the scowling headlights, the shield-like crosshair
grille, and the shoebox-sized
side windows.
Dodge looked to the second- generation Charger
(1968–’70) for the new body’s
defining characteristics, the
magazine noted.
For those who can’t resist
the lure of the HEMI® engine,
the 5.7-liter V-8 returns with an
expected 370 horsepower, Car
& Driver said, adding that the
engine has no trouble fulfilling
the Charger’s muscle-car contract. The new 3.6-liter V-6 will
make an estimated 292 horse-
C
power, the magazine said. It
can accelerate the Charger
with plenty of thrust (we estimate 0 to 60 in 6.5 seconds),
Car and Driver added.
When compared to the previous generation, ―every aspect
has changed for the better,‖
Road & Track reported. The
Charger has been redone with
a focus on retaining its unique
character while improving interior quality and driving dynamics, Road & Track said.
Edmunds Inside Line reported that while the engineers
were busy, the accountants cut
the price. You can have a Pentastar V-6 2011 Dodge
Charger SE for $25,995 —
$200 less than a 2010 Charger
with the 3.5-liter V-6, Edmunds
noted. Better yet, Dodge has
lopped a full $2,000 off the
base price of the V-8 Charger
R/T ($30,995), the website
added.

“Scrappy” Chrysler Group on the rebound
Chrysler Group is ―feeling
scrappy again,‖ writes the Detroit Free Press in a front-page
story.
The Detroit News notes that
Chrysler Group is ―proving its
skeptics wrong‖ one year after
outlining an ambitious, five-year
business plan.
―The Auburn Hills-based
company is exceeding financial
goals, investing more heavily in
products and plants than expected and restoring jobs and
morale,‖ The Detroit News said.
The Free Press said the
company’s ―design and engineering prowess‖ is displayed in
the new 2011 Dodge and Chrysler models being test-driven by
media this month.
―They have done better than
we expected,‖ IHS Automotive
Analyst Rebecca Lindland told
The Detroit News.
Motor Trend Editor Angus
Mackenzie blogged that ―Fiat
might be the best thing to have ever
happened to Chrysler.‖ Mackenzie retells a story from Chrysler
design chief Ralph Gilles of how
he borrowed a leather sample
The color of the Durango Citadel’s
plush interior was inspired by leather
found in the Ferrari design studios.
from the Ferrari design studio
and was able to match the Ferrari’s lush tan color for the interior on the new Dodge Durango
Citadel.
Mackenzie concludes that
―any company that can allow a
little piece of Ferrari to make its
way into a Dodge crossover
simply has to be the best thing
to have ever happened to the
perennial scrappy underdog of
the American auto industry.‖
Chrysler releases pricing for 200, minivan
Chrysler announced pricing for the 2011 200 and Town & Country,
Autoblog reports.
The website said four trim levels are available on the 200 – LX,
Touring, Limited and S – with pricing starting at $19,995 for the base
model, $21,995 for the Touring and $24,495 for the Limited. Official
pricing for the top of the line S has not been released yet.
On the 200, The Wall Street Journal reports that just about everything a car shopper sees or feels has been replaced from the prior
Sebring model: the seats, dash, center console, door liners and instrument panel on the inside, along with the hood, grill, trunk lid, front
and rear fenders, wheels and lamps on the outside. The roof and
doors are the only exterior parts that remain untouched, while underneath the car has a new suspension and transmission and new engine choices, the newspaper said.
Motor Trend said the Town & Country gets a $4135 hike from the
2010 model, to $30,995, further distancing itself from the Dodge
Grand Caravan. The magazine notes that price jump ―isn’t huge
when you consider Chrysler has simply eliminated the base LX trim.‖
Fiat brand prepares
for U.S. launch
The Fiat brand will return to
the U.S. market after a 27-year
absence with the Fiat 500 subcompact and big hopes, Bloomberg reported.
The news service interviewed Sam Germana, a lawyer who bought his first Fiat in
1982, and still has fond memories behind the wheel of his
Italian import, Bloomberg said.
Germana jumped at the
chance to plop down $500 to
reserve a special first-edition
version of the 500, the tiny car
Fiat SpA hopes will make a big
splash as the brand returns to
the U.S. market this winter,
Bloomberg reported. Germana,
who lives on New York’s Long
Island and works in New Jersey, has driven the European
version and figures it will be
perfect for his daily commute,
Bloomberg said.
Fiat is betting there are many
more customers who fondly
recall the sporty Fiat image of
bygone days, the news service
reported. The Fiat 500 subcompact, known as the Cinquecento in Italy, has sold 500,000
units since 2007 in other parts
of the world, Bloomberg reported.
Autoblog reported the first
batch of U.S.-bound Fiat 500s,
called Prima Edizione, will be
available in Rosso (red), Bianco (white) and Grigio (gray).
