Unleash the Power of Reading at our Book Fair and Grandparents Day!
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Our school Book Fair is taking place on Friday 22nd August. We need volunteers to assist with many aspects of
the fair so any help will be greatly appreciated, even if you can only spare an hour. We will mainly need
assistance with:
•
helping teachers to set up the book stalls on Thursday 21/8 (12.00-1.30pm)
•
reading to small groups of children on Friday 22/8 (9.30-11.00am)
•
serving morning tea to Grandparents on Friday 22/8 (11.00-11.30am)
Please leave a message at the office if you are able to assist.
We appreciate your support in whatever form it takes!
With thanks,
SHPS Staff and Students
New Kindergarten Enrolments
Please inform the school if you have a child beginning Kindergarten in 2015. Children must turn 5 years
of age before 1st August 2015.
It would be helpful if you could inform a neighbour, friend or relative who has a child beginning
Kindergarten in 2015 to get in touch with school and inform us that your child will be enrolling in
Kindergarten 2015. We are in the process of putting together enrolment packages and an information
sheet on our Kinder Orientation Program. Our Program will consist of a parent information session
where the Principal, current Kindergarten teacher, Bu Anna, and a representative of the P&C will
attend. New Kindergarten children will be invited to join our current Kindergarten class while the
Parent Information Session takes place. We will arrange four more visits for 2015 Kindergarten children
to attend class time with Bu Anna and her current Kindergarten students. Times scheduled for the
visits will be from 9.00am to 11.00am and this includes the parent Information Session.
Indonesian News:
On Monday 18th August, the school will celebrate Indonesian Independence day. We will start with
a flag raising ceremony in the morning and a 'krupuk' eating competition in Indonesian class time.
Students are asked to wear 'merah dan putih' (red and white) on this day to symbolise the colours of
the Indonesian flag. We also ask that students bring a gold coin in to donate towards the sponsorship
of our adopted orangutan in Indonesia.
Terima kasih,
Bu Mel
Gaagal Wanggaan National Park Tour
Years 5 & 6 will have the opportunity to undertake this tour and be part of a promotional opportunity
for the Park and highlight our students in their marketing materials. A photographer and film crew will
be on hand. A separate permission note will go home after the excursion seeking approval to be
photographed and filmed. Children without this permission will not attend the tour. We’ll leave school
at 9.00am and return by 1.00pm. We will need assistance with transport.
Yarahapinni Festival
Stuarts Point PS is organising this day and a note will follow once all arrangements have been made.
The cost of the bus will be $6 per student. Permission note and information will follow.
Year 2/3
Year 2/3 had a great time out in the Bush Tucker Area gathering 10 different leaves to sketch. All
children are wearing their red headbands to signify a deep respect for the land on which they are
carrying out their class assignment.
