offering boat slips and watercraft rentals on beautiful
Lake Cumberland.

for the SOMERNITES CRUISE CAR SHOW. Discover a

enter downtown. “Show and Shine” lasts from
1 to 7 p.m., and “Cruising the Strip” begins at 7 p.m.

the farm. Visit a 1900 Vintage Homeplace, feed the animals and
enjoy the nature trails. BEAR WALLOW FARM also offers a fouracre corn maze and hayrides to the pumpkin patch, where you

October’s HARVEST MOON FESTIVAL
is held at the Pulaski County Judicial
Center Plaza in Dowtown Somerset.
The Center for Rural Development hosts
the annual SHELTOWEE ARTISANS ART
FAIR in November. These events feature a
diverse mixture of high-quality arts and
crafts demonstrations and items for sale
from throughout southern and eastern
Kentucky.
The CARNEGIE COMMUNITY ARTS
CENTER in Downtown Somerset
is home to a wide variety of art
shows, live music and other community gatherings month after
month. Several artists maintain
working studios in the Carnegie
and the Sheltowee Artisans have

At the base of nearby Wolf Creek Dam, the U.S. Fish
and Wildlife Service maintains the WOLF CREEK
NATIONAL FISH HATCHERY where trout are raised
to stock Lake Cumberland, more than 100 other
Kentucky waterways and for the Cherokee Indian
Tribe in North Carolina. Every summer the Hatchery
hosts CATCH A RAINBOW KIDS FISHING DERBY, a
fun-filled day of fishing for kids and their families.

fishermen bringing home a 58-POUND STRIPER, a
22-pound walleye or a catfish weighing an amazing 208
pounds! From Cumberland Falls to Wolf Creek Dam, Lake
Cumberland is filled with crappie, bream, walleye, trout,
catfish and five species of bass. Shoot for the record book
anytime during the year-long fishing season.

Lake Cumberland Performing
Arts and THE CENTER FOR RURAL
DEVELOPMENT bring everything
from Broadway musicals to drama,
acrobatics, ballet, comedy and all
genres of music to the CenterStage

Vienna Boys Choir, The Nutcracker
and country music stars play in

The MASTER MUSICIANS FESTIVAL is the premier
midsummer music event in the Lake Cumberland

holes that overlook the lake. Guests at WOODSON BEND RESORT simply step
from their condominium onto an 18-hole Trevino-Bennett course. EAGLE’S NEST
COUNTRY CLUB, an 18-hole, par-71 golf course, is one of the most challenging
and scenic courses in the region. SOMERSET COUNTRY CLUB offers another challenging 18-hole golf course and is the oldest course in the county. WAITSBORO

WALKING TOUR of downtown
Somerset leads you through part
of its rich history. In addition
to showing such places as the
once-thriving Commercial District
or the historic homes on Harvey’s
Hill, the tour gives insight into
diverse aspects of life in Pulaski
County, such as town beginnings,
a Civil War Military Hospital and
a turn-of-the-century trolley car
system.
Kentucky artist Chris Ramsey and his
woodturned hats have received national
acclaim. Ramsey hosts beginner and
master level WOODTURNING WORKSHOPS
at his studio throughout the year.

THE MILL SPRINGS BATTLEFIELD VISITOR CENTER
and Museum in Nancy displays authentic Mill Springs
Battlefield artifacts and other Civil War clothing and
artifacts. The visitor center includes a Civil War reference library, a gift shop and a free 20-minute video on
the history of the Battle of Mill Springs. Regular events
include a weekend full of history and fun for the entire
family held the fourth weekend in June. Learn about
the Battle of Mill Springs, visit a Civil War camp and
learn how to shoot a cannon. In the fall, participate

The PULASKI COUNTY HISTORY
WALK presents local interpreters who
portray characters from Pulaski’s past
like author Harriette Simpson Arnow
and statesman Sen. John Sherman
Cooper. The live portrayals provide
close, personal history not found in the
classroom or books. Tour groups meet at
the Pulask County Judicial Center Plaza
and are limited to 25 persons. Proceeds
used to benefit local preservation

variety of local plays throughout the
year, a Winter Shorts Film Festival
in January, Sketches! An Evening
of Short Comic Plays in April and a

The EAGLE SCOUT TRAIL at
Pulaski County Park is a hiking
and biking trail nestled in
the beautiful Kentucky hills.
While hiking, enjoy a series of
bridges, including a suspension
bridge over Porter Creek that
you have to see to believe. If

then you’ll love the IMBA Spec
5-mile portion of the trail.

August. In 2010, the first raft-up achieved a Guinness
Book Of World Records ranking. All participating
boats must be connected together in a single line
for at least one minute and have at least one person
on board during this minute. The final tally of 1,651
boats, was comprised of vacationers from 20 different
states, and the District of Columbia.
