three-way interviews
Principal’s
Message
Our Term Three '3 Way Parent-TeacherKaryn
Student Interviews' for 2016 take place in Simes-Martin
the week of Monday, 5th September to
Friday, 9th September. We believe it is
vital that we work together to ensure we can provide the
best education possible for your child. These interviews
are for all students from Prep to Six.
Interview times will be of 15 minutes duration. Three way
interviews mean the teacher, the student and the
parent(s) coming together to chat about the students’
progress over the term, and goals planned for the
remainder of the year. We offer this type of interview
once per year, so the student can discuss what they have
been doing in their classroom. This section will take
around five minutes of the fifteen minutes, with the
remaining ten minutes a chance for parents to ask
questions and teachers to provide information. The
student stays throughout the fifteen minutes, unless the
parent wants to speak about something confidentially.
Our aim is to provide an opportunity for each student to
share their work and goals for the future within a small,
trusting group. As parents, the more we know about
child’s work at school, the better we can provide both
encouragement and support at home.
All bookings will be done online using Compass.
Instructions to access the interview times can be found

PARENT HELPERS NEEDED
Class teachers will be seeking parent helpers to assist ALL children in the group . If
you are available please let your child's class teacher know ASAP. It is compulsory
that ALL parents at the pool assisting the group or their own child, particularly in
the change rooms, hold a current Working With Children Check (WWCC). Therefore
all parents attending the pool and traveling on the bus to will need to present their
WWCC at the office prior to the commencement of the swimming program.
Parents, Please Note — If you are only coming to watch the swimming lesson and you
wish to assist your child in the change room, you will need to use a separate change
room from the rest of the group, unless your WWCC has been approved and you
have been issued a ‘Parent Helpers’ badge from the school office.

Staff Car Park
It has come to our attention that some parents are dropping off and
picking children up in the staff car park. We have recently seen cars
u-turn out whilst children are walking in and leaving. This could result in a
serious injury to our students. Can parents please use the drop off zones
provided outside the school in Molbray Street, at all times, to ensure
student safety. This area is a closed zone from 8.45am to 9.15am and
from 3.15pm to 3.45pm.
Also, I would like to ask parents to remind their children that the
driveway to the staff car park is not a walking zone to the Library. There
are students who use this as the closest entrance to the school. It is strictly
a cars only area, and children are not permitted to walk through the
carpark before, during or after school.
Please help us to keep the students safe!

FATHER’s Day Breakfast
Dear Parents/Guardian,
This year to celebrate Father’s Day we are excited to announce the return of The Father’s Day Breakfast.
This exciting event will be held at school on Monday 5th September from 7:30am- 8:45am in the MultiPurpose room. As this is a family event parents must ensure that their children are supervised by a parent
until 8:45am. At this time, teachers are on yard duty and have duty of care of the students. If a parent
can’t be with your child/ren until 8:45am please ensure that they are enrolled in Before School Care on
that morning.
For the Father’s Day Breakfast we will offer egg and bacon rolls and a juice for the dads and juice for the
children. The egg and bacon rolls will be offered with many optional condiments such as BBQ or tomato
sauce and yummy cheese. The cost of each roll and juice is $7 per person. Gluten Free option will be
available with Gluten free toast. If you need to make variations due to dietary requirements such as
vegetarian, please do so on the order form below. For those families who have more than three people
attending, we have capped the cost at $21.00 per family.
Payments of cash or cheque are preferred, but for orders above the amount of $10 parents may use the
credit card option. These are the only payment options available for this yummy event.
Please indicate on the order form below what you would like to order. Please return the form and the
money to school by Monday 29th August. No late orders can be accepted.
We really look forward to a fun Father’s Day morning.

Chess News
Only yesterday 28 students from Kerrimuir competed in
our third interschool chess tournament this year. We had
one team in the A division and one team in the B division.
The B team came 4th in their competition and the A team
placed 5th. The coaches commented that the standard of
this tournament was particularly high, so we all faced
some tough games.
Henry Jackson (A team) and Goran Zhao (B team) had
the highest scores for Kerrimuir and also the highest
increase in their ratings. Congratulations also to
Jamie Im, Prranav Pathania, Joshua Shirley, Jasper Dianes
and Nemika Naotuune who competed for the first time.
Many of our competitors in the tournament come to chess
club every Tuesday lunchtime in Mr. Bevis’ room.
Everyone is welcome and you don’t need to be able to
play chess to come. The next Kerrimuir tournament will
be held on the 13th of October.
