NINETEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
August 7, 2016
Focus: What Time’s the Meeting
In our (overly) scheduled lives we can lose sight
of the fact that the most important “meeting” we
will have is one that we cannot put on any
schedule.

From the Pastor
First of all I would like to thank Fr. Gary Wiesmann from the Diocese of
Mandeville, Jamaica for talking about the work and the need among the people
over there.
The kids and I had a great time in Poland with the Pope and 2 million other
young adults. Monday and Tuesday, before the official beginning, we had a
chance to tour Auschwitz and Birkenau, this was the death camp. Most of the
buildings have been torn down now, some simply from age but most right after
the war simply for fire wood. The property itself has never been used for anything
else. So we could see where the buildings had stood, brick chimneys still standing. We walked through the middle of the camp, along the railroad tracks that
brought the condemned. Then we walked the perimeter. It was a very long and
quiet walk. That was the last time I walked without my cane. That’s the end of
my “witness.” The kids will be talking at the masses next week.
BBQ Weekend. The Hoe Down and Trivia are behind us.
Please come back and join us for the chicken dinner and bring
your neighbors.

Am I waiting for the “right” time to
become a good steward? Do I plan to
share my time and talents “later?” Today’s Gospel warns those who are procrastinating about stewardship to be prepared — “at
an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.
BOOK OF THE WEEK
ST. VINCENT de PAUL CONFERENCE
In the Gospel, Jesus says "Sell your belongings and give alms. Provide money bags for
yourselves that do not wear out, an inexhaustible treasure in heaven that no thief can reach
nor moth destroy." Please help the St. Augustine,
Society of St. Vincent de Paul bring hope to local
families in need and you will indeed find "an inexhaustible treasure in heaven!"
Opening the Door of Faith by Thomas
D. Stegman, SJ. Essays that bring forth
another source for study and reflection
on the issue of faith, the five major
voices of the New Testament– matthew,
mark, Luke, John and Paul. This book
lays out four dimensions of the life of faith from each
of these voices. ( suggested donation $9.95)
The books are in the back of the church in the rack.
Our next meeting is Thursday August 18 at 7 pm in
the Family Center.
