On behalf of the Recreation Department, I would like to
invite you to the Spring/Summer season. Our staff works very
hard to provide you with programs for all ages from our fields to
our beaches!
In the near future we will be launching our new recreation
software system. Now our residents will be conveniently able to
register and pay online!
As with all of our programs, we appreciate your feedback as
we continue to work hard to provide you with the best service.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION
Registration is open to Port Jefferson Residents first. Registrants may be asked to
show proof of residency (2015 tax bill, Year-Round lease, Driver’s License) to receive
the resident discount.
You can register for most programs online at www.PortJeff.com
You can register in person at the Recreation Department 101-A East Broadway, Port
Jefferson.
Deadline for all registrations is 3 business days before a program begins unless
otherwise noted.
HEALTH REQUIREMENTS
Participants are advised to have a complete physical prior to participating in any
activities that may be strenuous.
PAYMENT
Pre-registration with payment is required for all programs, unless otherwise noted. We
accept cash, check, Visa, MasterCard or Discover card. There is a $20 fee for all returned
checks. All checks are payable to the Village of Port Jefferson.
CANCELLATION
Minimum class requirements must be reached in all programs for them to be offered.
Programs are subject to cancellation based on availability of instructors, facilities &
equipment.
REFUND POLICY
Refunds will be given only if the refund request form is submitted more than 5
business days prior to the start of the program, or if we cancel the program.

SENIOR PROGRAM
Seniors are welcome to join us for fun and camaraderie every Wednesday
from 10 AM to 2 PM at the Village Center. Bring a lunch, the coffee is on us!
Transportation provided to Village Seniors.
We take fun trips to local theaters and gardens, and enjoy special seasonal
luncheons hosted by the students in the Port Jefferson Schools.

The Village Center and Port Jefferson Harborfront Park have become an exciting part of our lives, providing
a vibrant space for recreational, social, and educational functions, as well as exhibits and annual events.
To ensure that the Village Center lives up to the dreams and expectations that drove its creation, the
Port Jefferson Harbor Education and Arts Conservancy (THE CONSERVANCY) was formed. This volunteer
organization, with its not-for-profit status, raises funds and secures grants.
The Conservancy will continue its funding efforts to increase knowledge and appreciation of local history,
cultural arts, marine life, recreational sports, and educational experiences. It will enrich the lives of individuals,
families, and friends as they visit the Village Center and Harborfront Park.

Port Jefferson Village Archives & History
The Port Jefferson Village Archives, dedicated to the preservation, protection and promotion of Port
Jefferson’s rich culture and history, resides on the second floor of The Village Center. The Archives also
support the Digital Archive found online at http://www.portjeff.com/village-history/.
The Port Jefferson Village Digital Archive provides public access to a variety of materials including
photographs, postcards, documents, manuscripts, prints, textual items, maps, drawings, and more.

The Archive is administered by the Incorporated Village of Port Jefferson through the office of the Port
Jefferson Village Historian with support from the Port Jefferson Harbor Education and Arts Conservancy.

GOALS
The goals of the Port Jefferson Village Digital Archive are to:
• Unify local government, not-for-profit organizations, private individuals, and other parties in a community
effort to save and share audio, graphic and textual records.
• Preserve, protect and promote Port Jefferson’s rich culture and history.
• increase access to analog media by converting physical records to electronic form, making the resulting
digital facsimiles available on the Internet;
• Contribute to scholarly research.
• Provide unique educational opportunities for area residents.
• Create a virtual museum, supplementing the physical exhibits at the Village Center.
PARTICIPATION
The Digital Archive seeks the public’s participation in preserving audio, graphic and textual records about
Port Jefferson’s culture and history. If you would like to provide originals for digitization, storage and
dissemination, please Contact Us. You will be credited in accession records and by “source” in the metadata.
Clients will also be given a DVD of their collection, protecting the images from repeated handling while
providing a backup in the event of theft or damage.
OBTAINING COPIES OF IMAGES
Low resolution images on the Digital Archive’s website can be downloaded. You may also purchase a highresolution copy of an image in the Digital Archive’s collections if the owner of the original grants permission.
